Everyone always talked about Billy’s Nosferatu look in this video, but lets talk about how awesome James and D’Arcy look! Lol I hate that I dropped off after MCIS, because this era of the band is fascinating to me. Yes it sucks that Jimmy wasn’t there and I understand why, but I hate that it took me so many years to give this album a chance, because its beautiful and creative as hell.

So cool how Billy just sings the climax wherever he wants. Your observations are, as always, on point, and remind me of all the reasons why I love this song. Thanks for sharing another awesome reaction. I know I am going to really enjoy one of your reactions when the video is a lot longer than the song! 14 pauses for comment and 4 back ups, so fun (for me) to hear and see specifically what you like about this song. Thanks again Polo, this video has brightened my day, and I hope you have a great day Too. 🙂

The 'Pumpkins are really good, they got me through darker times back in the day. Their melancholy is soothing. "Zero" is one of my favorite bangers from the Smashing Pumpkins, it's really short at 2m45s, but it packs a punch. "1979" is a classic tune from them. "Tonight, tonight" is pretty epic feeling. "Today" was their first radio/MTV hit.

I've seen this record "Adore" get alot of love recently. People are really coming around to that this is a strong record in their catalog. The drummer had been fired prior to this record and there was a shift in sound. Because this record was indeed fire, to me, that's their 1st 4 record are all knocked out of the park. Siamese is still probably the best

Pumpkins are certainly NOT a one-trick pony! They have many different styles (much to do with their 'defacto' leader, Billy Corgan - Uncle Fester in this video - LOL). He has no issues taking the band in any direction he sees fit - for better or worse (and trust me, there have been some missteps in the history). Highly recommend: Cherub Rock, Silverf%$k, Eye, Rhinoceros, Zero, and some newer stuff for comparison: Purple Blood, Cyr. This is a 4-Runner track if there ever was one. Great reactions my man! Keep it up. Cheers.

Smashing Pumpkins are an American alternative rock band from Chicago, Illinois. Formed in 1988 by frontman and guitarist Billy Corgan, bassist D'arcy Wretzky, guitarist James Iha and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin, the band has undergone several line-up changes since their reunion in 2006, with Corgan being the sole constant member since its inception. The current lineup features Corgan, Chamberlin, Iha and guitarist Jeff Schroeder. Corgan is the group's primary composer; his musical versatility and cathartic lyrics have shaped the band's distinctive albums, which one writer described as "anguished, bruised reports from Billy Corgan's nightmare-land." A distinctive sound up until Adore involved layering numerous guitar tracks onto a song during the recording process, a tactic that Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness coproducer Flood called the "Pumpkin guitar overdub army. Lyrics below: It's you that I adore You'll always be my whore You'll be a mother to my child And a child to my heart We must never be apart We must never be apart Lovely girl, you're the beauty in my world Without you, there are no reasons left to find And I'll pull your crooked teeth You'll be perfect just like me You'll be a lover in my bed And a gun to my head We must never be apart We must never be apart Lovely girl, you're the murder in my world Dressing coffins for the souls I've left to die Drinking mercury to the mystery Of all that you should ever leave behind In time In you, I see dirty In you, I count stars In you, I feel so pretty In you, I taste God In you, I feel so hungry In you, I crash cars We must never be apart I'm drinking mercury To the mystery Of all that you should ever seek to find Lovely girl, you're the murder in my world Dressing coffins for the souls I've left behind In time We must never be apart And you'll always be my whore 'Cause you're the one that I adore And I'll pull your crooked teeth You'll be perfect just like me In you, I feel so dirty In you, I crash cars In you, I feel so pretty In you, I taste god (Ah, ah, ah, ah) We must never be apart (ah, ah, ah)

I’ve been a SP fan since “Cherub Rock.” They’re the only band I’ve seen live almost 10x. I think I’ve Tool 4x. Anyhow, they have a diverse range of sound & that’s what I like about them. Billy & Jimmy are excellent musicians that know when, or when not to show off. I don’t always agree w/ Corgan’s views on religion & politics, but the band has a nice balance of soft dreamy shoegaze, alternative, metal, progressive, psychedelic & electronic.

Polo digging Billy's entry into his "Dark City" phase love to see it 😂 Interesting to hear a comment about the drums, as this was their first album without IMO the best drummer of the era, Jimmy Chamberlain. They took more of a loop kit approach on the album because of it. Coolest thing about the video was the band having to match their lip syncing to the speed of the track, which the directors sped up and slowed down in parts to layer achieve the visual fast/slow effect.

This was post-Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness when there was a gap of time after they had fired their *amazing* drummer Jimmy Chamberlin for drug issues and turned toward more digital drum tracks and fill in drummers. Their peak batting average era was absolutely Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness. They still do great work and still capable of putting out a banger, but those were their stride days of hit after hit and I don’t know what part of that may have been Jimmy Chamberlin’s touch (he’s back with the band, but now they don’t have their bassist D’arcy Wretsky 🤷🏻‍♂️)

Good album and sure it's Billy Corgan's band but without drummer Jimmy Chamberlain they lost an edge, left Billy with 2 decisions; new drummer or drum machine, the latter of which which was in vogue for the 90's. Jimmy got kicked out of the band for a heroin incident which resulted in the death of their touring keyboardist, Jimmy was shooting up with him when poor dude overdosed and Billy has a zero tolerance policy for band BS so Jimmy got bounced out the door...until he cleaned up and he and Billy buried some hatchets some years later.

I've been a SP fan for a very long time. Billy Corgan is a vastly underrated guitarist and bassist (he wrote both for all but 2 or 3 SP songs). I think this is because of the songs that have been chosen as their albums singles. The singles are his most pop friendly songs, not his most technically interesting. His range is amazing, he can write well in most genres. I recommend their album Siamese Dream, it's a perfect album in my opinion (I don't say that lightly).

Exactly! As far as musicianship goes, their most progressive work rarely gets radio play. Jimmy Chamberlin is also an underrated drummer. If you listen to his side projects like the Jimmy Chamberlin Complex and his jazz band w/ Frank Catalano on 🎷 sax, he’s definitely 1 of the best drummers from the 90’s.
