She is onLy 7 yrs of Age & She has invited the Spirit of BiLLie HoLiday & Hav Embodied Her to Sing This Song.& Draw Tears From ur Eyes with Every Word👍👋🍷🍺🍾
It seems by now you should know Angelina's family, so allow me to introduce you: Angelina's full name is "Angelina Jordan Astar." Jordan is her MIDDLE name, not her surname; she adopted Angelina Jordan as her stage name. Her mother (the blond woman backstage in this video) is Sarah Astar. Her uncle (Sarah's brother) is Michael Astar, who is also Angelina's manager. You may occasionally see AJ's grandmother, Mery Zamani (a well-known artist from Iran who immigrated to Norway). You don't see her often because Mery is likely to have shot the video you're watching. From time to time you'll see AJ's little sister Juliette. Her father, Gerry Slattman (who is Swedish) is seldom seen, as he prefers to avoid the attention. I just thought you should know the folks who have, collectively, done such an amazing job of supporting, protecting, encouraging, and nurturing Angelina. She may be a gift from God, but she wouldn't be who she is without the incredible love and support of her family (like moving from Oslo to LA when Angelina was 12 to further her career). We owe them all a big thank you!
Just another aside. This is a very mature song/selection she chose to sing. About losing a close partner, and imagining you might contemplate suicide just because you are so lost without them there. This song has some notoriety as a "suicide song" because some people were actually moved to do just that. I watched a documentary movie about the notoriety of this song LONG before there was an Angelina around to sing it for us. Originally written by a fellow from Hungary, and Billie Holiday's version was one of the first recordings of the song with English translated/adapted lyrics.
I didn't expected you hadn't seen this performance yet:-) There is a longer video with subtitles and a little interview with Angelina which is a lot of fun to watch. During NGT she did three more performances: I'm a fool to want you, Bang Bang and Summertime
Vibe you nailed what the first judge said. He said he got goosebumps from the start but was at a loss of more words. The 2nd judge, exclaimed, "You ARE music" and the 3rd judge said she was born to sing and was a star. The final judge said people don't see how children can sing as mature as you did and then asked if she knew what the song was about. Angelina replied, "Yes, it is about a sad Sunday" and the judge agreed and said he could feel that sad Sunday.
The judges are like, she's so sweet, and she's gonna sing Billie Holiday, that's going to be so cute. Whoa, what?? Are you hearing this? Really?? I recently heard Alan and Pontus interviewing others talking about her musical and emotional genius and grace. We hear it even then. I read somewhere that Sara was crying because she knew at that point she would have to share her daughter with the world.
I read somewhere her mother said in an interview that she cried backstage during this song because she understood during the performance that she had 'lost' her little daughter to the world.
This is IT! This is where it all started. We have seen videos of Angelina before this one, but THIS video is what put Angelina on the map. No one had ever heard of her up until this point, and this is the start of her meteoric rise to superstardom. Apparently, the evening this aired, RU-vid blew up in Norway, receiving 3 MILLION views after her TV performance. Great reaction Ray! ❤️👣
50K Ray! Good to see you. Congratulations. LOL! "The Angelina Bomb." LOL! She called her a star, Ray. No, he's going on about she should be a grownup to sing the song, does she know what it means? Yes, it is about a sad Sunday" There is one with English subtitles, VIBE. Ray you keep on truckin' Grandma Ellen, out.
Ray this is a Great Choice for when it's all begins for the barefoot princess Angelina Jordan A star is born. And of course she's won the contest beating out Adults LOL 😆
AJ's mom said in an interview those were both happy tears, but also sad tears because she said she realized she would have to share her little girls with the world.
Hi, Ray! Thank you for continuing to feature Angelina on your channel. Every nanosecond you spend watching and listening to her is worthwhile. I've been looking for your Playlist of Angelina performances to determine what to suggest next, but either my old eyes cannot see it, or you have yet to create one. 🙂 If you haven't done one yet, please will you give some thought to doing so, as it will then be much easier to make suggestions for future reactions.
I have 2 Angelina suggestions that you may have not found yet. Not this seasons coming of Summertime, the one she did a little later with an entire KORK orchestra. That is the best version of Summertime on the planet. She set the bar soooooo high after that. 2nd suggestion is her singing Kawa no Nagare no You Ni. (Like the flow of the river... nearly a 2nd Japanese anthem) Yes. In Japanese.
Always love your reactions but it might have been better to react to one of the videos with the introductory segment and English subtitles. Some very interesting exchanges including the iconic comment "You ARE music"... The last judge asks her if she understands what the song is about and she sweetly replies: "Yes: it's about a sad Sunday..." You might try this version: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-d3gSho9yf88.html (and similar for her later NGT performances.. the whole progression is great to watch )
My favorite "Baby" Angelina performance is right after she won NGT when she sang Dinah Washington's, What a Difference a Day Makes, at an outdoor concert in Norway when she was 8. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZSfgCIGd7k4.html I couldn't find a playlist for Angelina, did I miss it? If not, a playlist makes it much easier to see what you've already done.
The Judge asked Her did She Even Know wut This Grown-Up Song was About. AngeLina Say Yes i do Know wut this Song is About. It is About a Sad Sunday. & The Judge Agreed & Say Yes it Was & You Made us feeL the Sadness🍾🍺🍷👋👍
The Judge asked AngeLuna did She Even Know wut This Song Was About & She Said Yes This Song Was About a Dad Sunday. Her Answer Shocked the Judge. She not onLy Sang This Song but Knew wut it Was aLL About💃🌹🍺🍾
Hey 50 K Ray, congrats and love your reactions. You asked for Young Angelina? well here it is, a 5 minute clip of some of her youngest moments, including her first recording of her holding and singing into a Mic. at 1 1/2 years old. It occurs just before the two minute mark.. Thank You! keep up the great Vibes! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VJjG68Dfr-8.html
Most of my playlists are roughly chronologically sorted. But this is the playlist section with her specific 2013 to 2016 performances, age 7-10: m.youtube.com/@most2dot0/playlists?view=50&flow=list&shelf_id=7
Don’t give a rap about your camera, microphone, or chair you use. You are gaining subscribers because of your personality, insightful commentary, humor and who you choose to react to. GOOD JOB!
Ok Ray, Check Angelina out at 6 singing ' I who have nothing' in studio ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RjQZKBpVaes.html She also sings 'Rolling in the Deep' in studio at 6 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-M-QspUVhrUM.html
