Eli Jacobson, yes, the bald one, but it's short for Eliezer and pronounced as ellie. Geoff Castellucci the bass of course, Layne Stein is vocal percussion but also sings, Cesar de la Rosa, with all the hair is the newest member of the group after two left, and Omar is the guest here, who has also featured in Carry On Waward Son, Superstition, and The Dragonborn Comes.
They were all dirty, in this and in Halo. Rick Underwood, the makeup artist, made certain of it! They all rocked this song. I wouldn't have thought this song could be so well represented in a cappela. I'm so happy to be proved wrong.
Having this song remade A Cappella style has convinced me that VoicePlay could do any genre justice! One of my favourite things about them is that they pay respect to the original but also make it their own. I'd love to hear you react to some of Geoffs solo work. It takes a lot of guts to take a hard rock classic like Aerosmith and Dream On and do it justice “Acapella-ly”. But they pulled it off again! They took a revered classic and tilted it just a bit. It sounds completely different but it is obviously the same song. So it’s new and old at the same time which is not always the case with a cover or a remake. Far too often it’s either an imitation, like karaoke, or something so far removed that you don’t even recognize the song. This is being called Warriors 2.0. They filmed a cover of Warriors by Imagine Dragons a few years back when Earl and J were still with the group. The story goes that the zombies came and captured Earl and J. Then they found Omar and Cesar just wandering around looking lost and gather them up into their band and they’re ready to do battle again. They certainly look ready to do battle. I highly recommend that cover. It’s not strictly a cappella however. Layne plays a mean electric violin, and J plucks the violin and plays for a bit as well. It is so dramatic and captivating. It was written for a League of Legends tournament. I really am amazed that every time they have a featured artist who is not part of the core group it seems like they’ve always sung with them. VoicePlay and Geoff don’t block videos. You may get a copyright notice because they do copyright the music but they don’t block. It may slow down for a day or so but it will show up. The only long-standing ones that I am aware of were when they did a commercial thing for Sony and Dasani. But those eventually cleared as well.
I really enjoyed your reaction and am happy to see you react to Voice Play again. You did great remembering everybody's names. Eli is pronounced like it rhymes with belly. Cesar is their newest member and Omar Cardona is a frequent guest that everyone is hoping will join on as their fifth member. Voice Play is a group from Orlando Florida and the members all have experience working at Universal and/or Disney theme parks. Geoff and Layne have been best friends performing together since Jr high school. They frequently include guest singers that they have known since high school or college or worked with when they performed at the theme parks. They are so talented as singers and performers but also do all their own arrangements and production in their own studio outside of Orlando (PattyCake Productions) owned by Layne and former Voice Play member Tony. I really like your reactions and hope to see more of you on a Voice Play journey.
I'm enjoying your reactions to Voiceplay and to Geoff. I'm very old and wasn't listening to Aerosmith, so never heard this. I went back and listened to the original after this. I wasn't invested in the original and like Voiceplay's cover better. They make the lyrics so clear and the feeling of the music very dynamic. It is hopeful and harrowing at the same time. Peace!

Check out thier Queen in 5 minutes. It has 2 old members who have moved on, Earl Elkins and J None, and sadly no Cesar (the one with the frohawk in this one). It's a great mash up of classic songs telling a new story with them.

You seem to enjoy music a lot and you seem so genuine, and VoicePlay is my favourite group 😊. You never can expect to hear a copy of the original from them. They always try to do something that’s different to the original (but they pay homage to it, in my opinion) and different from all the covers they’ve found. I greatly appreciate that aspect of them, although it sometimes take a couple of listens for me to accept and enjoy the changes if it’s a song that is special to me. I’m looking forward to more reactions to them (I saw in a comment that you’ve got another one already recorded!) and am hoping to see what you think of Geoff’s newest one as well. Have a nice week!

If you want to hear more of their individual voices, try Queen in 5 Minutes. Not quite the same lineup as they have today, but each person gets a chance to shine. You probably will know songs in the medley, but the story they tell by the way they put them together is unique.
