It is amazing how every genre of music Voiceplay does sounds like the genre of music they are supposed to be singing.

Omar Cardona is in Voiceplay's Dragonborn Comes (the elf), Superstition and Carry on Wayward Son. He's a fav of mine, his voice is stunning, so I was really excited to see this one. And I agree, Cesar and Eli are amazing together. Eli is still my number one voice from all 3 of the main a capella groups. He's been that since Hoist the Colours and stayed there.

During the power trio high part, Geoff is doing an ascending subharmonic bassline then does a two octave jump and comes back down. The technicalities in this one are off the charts! Layne went crazy on the beat in this too.

They took a rock anthem, and injected a groove into it! When I first heard this, I think I was expecting it to be more rockish, and it took me a minute to recalibrate. But once I got on board- phew!! The creativity to recast this song in this manner- it just floors me. I can never wait to see what these guys are going to create next.

When Layne makes that noise I imagine a giant insect scuttling across a floor or making some noise in a sci fi film or some such. Weird but amazing. Yes you know Omar from Dragonborn or Superstition perhaps or Carry On Wayward Son. They are often theatrical but just sensational in everything they do. This is kind of Warriors 2, so if you haven't seen Warriors, maybe check it out.

Geoff is the warmth, Eli is the rasp, Caesar is velvet, and Layne is the etc.😂

One of the things I love about Voiceplay is that whenever they drop a new one, I can literally hear it dozens of times over a really short period of time and every time I hear something different. The layers are so thick and complex. Excellent reaction!

So glad you reacted to this so quickly! I enjoyed your reaction a lot! You’ve seen Omar in their “Dragonborn Comes /Skyrim”. Omar also joins them in their version of “Carry on Wayward Son” (don’t remember if you’ve reacted to that yet? If not, I highly recommend it!) as well as in Superstition.

The beat-boxing and bass were phenomenal. Add to that those high notes and how could this not be amazing.

Omar Cardona guested on Carry On Wayward Son, Superstition, and Dragonborn. His brother E.J. Cardona guested on Go The Distance. If they do add a new fifth permanent member, I'm guessing that Omar will be it. Or maybe they'll just keep on having various guests, until the touring market comes back.

OK, I'm done. I used to say that VoicePlay is very good, but not on a level with the Big Three (PTX, Home Free, Voctave). That's no longer true. It's officially Big Four. This is amazing. It's one of my all-time favorite songs, too, so my bar is pretty high. I came here prepared to be disappointed. Eli has always been my favorite, and Omar is my pick for "please-oh-please-can-we-make-this-guy-permanent," but I wasn't confident that they could handle this level. I am on the floor. Unbelievable.

When Cesar did his Birthday interview with Mortius he said he and Omar are best friends and it shows when they were filming this they were singing 'i've had the time of my life' and even did the jump!

You did notice the broken windows behind them, right? Heard in an interview that Ceasar and Omar are close friends an had been roomies before. Omar is rapidly becoming my favorite VP collaborator, along with DJ Young.

I was pleasantly surprised by this rendition. I've seen Aerosmith in concert 21 times and am a huge fan so I was a little worried to hear this. It was better than I anticipated and that's high praise coming from me. Very nice job. Fun reaction too Nick.

Like you I wasn't very familiar with VoicePlay, and wasn't sure about them. But now I enjoy them as much as Home Free.

I love Layne’s arrangements, but Geoff’s arrangements are absolutely god tier. I don’t think there’s anyone who arranges acapella music better than Geoff.

I was (eeeek) in high school when this came out and I think it's an outstanding cover. It's slowed down a little from the original, but with the set it just adds to the lyrics. It makes it seem more nostalgic, like a look back in time. I was waiting to hear Eli hit that Tyler scream but when they ALL did it I lost it. Nobody could hit that in high school. LOL Geoff. 'Nuff said. And I agree about Cesar--he's amazing! He's got to be up to a 5 octave range now because he can sing baritone too. Eli's already got a 5 octave range, it's just one higher than Geoff's. Geoff's low was a G1 and the highs were G#5s. That depth of sound is what makes them so amazing. I'm a patron so I get karaoke tracks of their songs and it's mind blowing what you can hear in the background vocals or effects. Omar is a great guest for this one. His brother EJ is in Voctave and sings Go the Distance with them. I'd love to hear one with both brothers in it. It's filmed in Eli's old high school by the way. Layne added some sweet sound effects in there. Geoff is releasing a new one on Patreon tomorrow.

Dragonborn Comes, Carry On My Wayward Son. Wasn't that an incredible cover? The outdid themselves. If you know who Mortius (reactor) is, look up his reaction to this. He had Cesar with him and they had a ball with that conversation - who did what - when - behind the scenes with Cesar. It is fun to hear his take on it.

I'm sooooo glad you picked up on the 'trio' - I've been saying that since this debuted, but as always (and with valid reasons) reactors focus on the bass & the beatbox, or the super high notes. But yeah, that high 3 part harmony was tight as hell!
