As a musician myself it is apparent that she is the leader, as this is her arrangement which accounts for her complete confidence in her performance , She already knows how she wants it is to go and she does not follow musicians they follow her. In the last part where where the horns take over and she sings that phrase" Oh Oh A Oh "..... you can tell she she is the leader , she is not following them they are complimenting her phrasing. The music stops and she goes on completely Acapella for phrase never ever losing timing ,pitch or tone , then that spectacular ending with that little oriental flavor on "if you don't want me" and carries those last notes out so long with perfect pitch right to the end. A masterpiece from a 9 year old not soon to be equaled from any age group.

She did not do all the instrumental arrangements. That undermines the quality of the musicians accompanying Angelina. She does make many of the vocal choices. Excellent reaction.

She can choose a voice, timbre, and phrasing that fits the song perfectly. To see how innate this ability is, watch her channel Billie Holiday singing Gloomy Sunday when she was 7. Yes, she does the arranging for all her songs. Her sense of musical timing, as you heard for this bluesy performance today, is always perfect. Angelina inhabits the style and the lyrics of whatever she sings. You said this was so different from her James Brown cover. I think you should see Angelina 100% opposite this one by watching her own arrangement if Bohemian Rhapsody on America’s Got Talent. Her voice is incredibly beautiful, soulful, and flexible, and she mesmerizes the audience and the judges. Her covers of Adele give us Adele’s power and emotion, but Angelina’s bottomless vocal toolkit goes beyond that with texture, riffs, vocal runs and depth that make her versions your favorites. Her recent cover of Adele’s All I Ask shows you Angelina recently, but her performance of A Million Years Ago, when she was 11 (I believe)-with just an acoustic guitar backing her-may well bring you to tears. Stargate has suggested when she records, the only time she takes more than 1 take is due to a musicians mistake. You should see all 4 performances in Norway's got talent at 7-8. She is the girl with 1000 voices.

In the intro you can see her writing out and passing last-minute changes to the arrangement to a member of the band. They may have gone in that day and been taken aback by playing for a nine-year-old, but by the end of the day they were calling her, "The Boss." If you get around to Angelina's Diamonds Are Forever at age 11, you'll be most amazed by the disconnect between her body language and the sound that comes from her. She could almost have been singing while cleaning her room for the apparent lack of focus as she paces from side to side. And yet what you hear possesses all the intensity of a sequin-clad Shirley Bassey in full statuesque diva mode at the London Palladium. It's a relatively unpopular choice for a reaction but worth checking out especially if you like the song.

But I'd like to draw your attention on another artist, or rather a group of them, as you also mentioned that you like this genre of handmade music (blues/jazz) and pitied that not more people are playing and singing in that style nowadays... Luckily there still are some of those, and one of them is musical genius Scott Bradlee with his collective of musicians called "Postmodern Jukebox" (PMJ). Scott takes all sorts of "modern" music and rearranges them in a vintage style with PMJ, and he does this really brilliantly. They got hundreds of amazing covers out, and each one is worthwhile listening to. PMJ feature different singers on their shows and studio recordings, and one especially outstanding among them is HALEY REINHART. I don't want to loose to many words here, you will get more informations on all of them by other fans (many Angels are Haliens as well...) as soon as you did a first reaction, so I'll suggest three videos all of which are crazily good, you may pick one which you are familiar with the song and like that in the original already, you'll find they'll outdo the originals in every single case, believe it or not... She has trained as a jazz singer and jazz is her first love but her versatility seems to be endless. I know of no other artist who can convey emotions through song better than she does. She is always key to how the music is arranged although I doubt she actually writes it. 😎

In this song, she was simulating Jay Hawkins style and screaming. Before you shift to Bohemian or Yellow brick stone, maybe you would like her simulation of Back to black, Amy Winehouse. She changes some parts of the song to shift from a fokkative song to a trippative song. Instead of «black black black», «laugh laugh laugh». The thing about Angelina is that she can change the tone and style of her voice to suit the genre of the song. But you are right, her roots are jazz and blues, that she started listening to from a baby with her grandma, and started singing at age 3. Nice to see you on Angelina's bandwagon, by the way. Since you wished there was more music like this (I assume you mean jazz/blues), you'll probably enjoy hearing her original '7th heaven' which is one of her contributions to the pool of great jazz songs.
Hard to comment such performance. I've seen it 100 of times and I'm still amaze every time. I you like vintage bluesy R&B from the early 60s. You you check out her cover of Etta James "I'd rather be blind". In terms of jazz her covers of "Summertime" (with the KORK orchestra) is just astonishing. Also her cover of "I"m a fool to want you" (the in-studio rehearsal) is something else. Anyway anyone ouf her cover or originals are worth a listen. She is a vocal chameleon that can sing all styles.

Up to 10 years old, all the musicians would be Norwegian. They are known for being great jazz musicians. She still goes back, however, and does concerts in Norway. Out of the 150 songs, about 6 are originals of hers. Yes, she does all her own arranging for her performances. There are videos of her making suggestions for her performances on Norway’s Got Talent at 7/8. She was 7 when the competition started and had a birthday right before the finale.
This is 10 months later and something you said got me thinking that you cannot teach commitment to performance like what she just showed. That's comes from inside. That's what compelled her to start singing at 18 months. She wanted to sing for Simon Cowell at 3yrs.old. And was in a recording booth by 5-6 and winning her country's Got Talent by 7-8 yrs.old. That drive to learn and explore found a PERFECT family to be born to. Where her choices were re-enforced and failure was embraced as o.k. because you gained information and wisdom that way.
You mean 'alluding to' is the phrase. Angelina has been 'in charge' of her singing since she was old enough to sing. She chooses the songs and if she wants changes to the score she marks them on the sheet music and calls them her wishes. She is in such control her musicians lovingly refer to her as, 'The Boss'!! As she has matured as a young lady her ideas have become bigger and better. This rearranging has reached a milestone with her appearance on AGT The Champions 2020. She's 15 years old now, but she sounds like a seasoned veteran jazz singer. She does have a hand in the arrangements of songs. We have to asume her parents rented the studio and band in her fahthers name Gerry Slattman and when she introduced herself, she must have used her real name not her stage name Angelina Jordan. The musicians told this: After 30 seconds into the song we knew who was singing. Angelina Jordan, Norways superstar since 2014 and also Norways national treasure. From that moment on, they were adoring her and worked many times with her at concerts. This gents are proud to say: I worked with Angelina Jordan. As of today January 2022 AJ is her own Brand and a highly respected artist in the international music Industrie. There is a video of her rehearsing another song by Screaming Jay Hawkins with these same players. He titled if "Portrait of a Man." She renamed it "Portrait of a Child" as that is who she is. i was shock when u said u never heard of angelina jordan knowing that u love old songs. i know her years ago on GOT TALENT. now she's gorgeous teeneger but back than on audition she was 3000 sooo cute...barefoot..messy hair...didnt have tooth...so little...no one expect this little creature sing with so much soul. u must watch it!!!!

You are spot on! She has a huge tool box and continues to amaze with her unique interpretations of all genres of music and vocal styles. She was born to sing and because she started so young, she is miles away from many singers her age in her professional experience. I'm sure many have suggested you go back to her Norway Got Talent audition and performances when she won the competition at 8(!) After that it's any direction you want to go with her youtube covers and her original songs. Have fun!! In terms of covers I'd love to hear- anything from Janis Joplin. She hasn't done that yet!
