Goblin slayer first episode is really shocking but that does a great job at making goblins a threat. Without that, you dont really get why the Goblin Slayer go around killing them. After that, the shocking scenes are few and far between. It is mainly a very dnd inspired show.

@@GOTGames Goblin Slayer is genuinely a good show but (cw: SA) [spoiler]episode 1 has a rape, and there's a reference to rape in a later episode; but in both cases it's to cement the antagonists as evil[/spoiler] Berserk? The original adaptation is *amazing*. The films are really good, but have some iffy animation on occasion. The new series have awful animation and horrendous sound design (swords sound like frying pans). There's nothing wrong with the 90's adaptation, but if you enjoy that, then you're better off switching to the manga. BUT, similar cw to Goblin Slayer - there's a few moments that hit that same point, but those moments are few and far between.

Kinda makes you feel bad for the gaming mentality of chasing the most rewarding and exciting quests. You forget how in the real world the "lower level" fantasy quests are often the most impactful. Gotta respect the Goblin Slayers of their universes doing such important jobs even if their names don't get known across the world as some legendary and rich hero.

Goblin Slayer is a great anime just Episode one was a shock to most on the detail and scenes. It's worth watching and so is the movie, it's deep and shows that any monster can be a danger. Berserk is just a classic that sadly may never get its true ending since the author died but still a good show to watch.

With Berserk at least the main plot points will be what was intended even if the execution of them is someone else's interpretation (and it's being done by Miura's friend of +30 years and the studio he trained for multiple years so I trust them).

Exactly the first episode of goblin slayer is here to warn you that ok the anime is heroic fantasy but is not a "friendly" one here if goblin got you he will stab you to death because it's how "it work" even if it's kinda hardcore. In fact int's a pretty good anime and not that fked up

I hate it when people just deny goblin slayer because of episode 1 when the story is not mainly all about that kind of stuff. To be honest, goblin slayer is not as bad compared to other stories released from japan. Goblin slayer just took a big hit from twitter and cancel culture because it was animated.

Oh man, I was such a fan of "Another" like 8 years ago. What's interesting, it first came out as a novel, and not as manga, like it usually does for other anime shows. It follows the story of a young boy named Koichi who transfers into a new school, and ends up in a class, which is bound by a mystical curse by which every year one of the students in that class has to die. The whole feel of the story heavily resembles the "Final Destination" movie series, where characters who desperately try to avoid their death still end up being killed in most unusual ways possible. Highly recommend checking it out, if you like that kind of horror stories, with a big sense of mystery.

You must not have seen many LN "adaptations" if anything I feel theres more shows based off LNs than manga but I unfortunately became quite acquainted with the LN anime "seasonals" which if its only 10 episodes typically means it was just an ad for the LN and never expect a 2nd season ive lost count of how many shows ive seen like that but some of my favorites were Mondaiji and Rakudai

Out of this three, Berserk is by far the most messed up, and is *BY FAR* the best one. The story, the arcs and the characters (specially the protagonist and main villain) are a master class in not only anime, but fantasy literature as a whole. Though I'm not a fan of the Fantasia arc (the latest one), everything before that is amazing: Golden Age and Millenium Falcon are 10/10 long arcs, massive in scale and development of the world. Lost Children and Tower of Conviction are incredible smaller arcs as well. Black Swordsman is enjoyable but bear in mind that is not all that Berserk is about. So yeah, Berserk is a must _read._ I'm sure you heard this before but Berserk should've be read and not watched, cause the anime adaptation don't do it justice. The 90's has some stellar direction qnd the movie trilogy (Recently adapted into a show) has good moments and OST, but the 2016 is infamous for being one of the worst adaptations of all time. If you plan to make reaction videos do yourself a favor and watch the 90's anime then skip to the manga.

6:03 Goblin Slayer is an amazing anime. the first episode is so controversial because they use the first episode to (minor spoiler) show you WHY Slayer does what he does. they try and succeed to instill in you an INTENSE hatred for goblins. so they go *incredibly* hard and don't pull any punches when they show you what goblins...do...and why they should be killed 6:26 i feel like you would enjoy it. it's a fantastic dark fantasy loosely based on but heavily inspired by D&D

Berserk is basically the godfather of Dark Fantasy. The original 1997 show is the prologue to the story and shows that came after were the continuation of that story. So the old show is quintessential watching for the others

Man the hype is real hearing Goblin Slayer's OP. Season 2 should be airing this year! Episode 1 is a bit on the crazy side and wont be everyone's taste. But if you manage to get through it, you'll find a whole new kind of anime. Thanks for bringing the hype back, hopefully people will start watching it again!

Even if they lighted up almost the rest of the episodes, I still fell in love with the world and characters even if you never ever hear anyone's name even once... Being realistic with deaths in a world with monsters is really not edgy or messed up, it's just a dark world fantasy with no mercy. (There are real examples of edgy animes that tries to look dark)

Another is the anime that started a whole generation terrified of umbrellas! That great OP from Ali Project just brought back memories of Vietnam, amazing. Ali Project is also the official voice of the Code Geass Endings and the Rozen Maiden OPs (I hope that you reactions to both). Goblin Slayer is perhaps the dark fantasy of the decade, an incredible anime. Mili is also a great voice within the industry, simply unmistakable. She also sings the Ending that you liked so much in the video-reaction that you made of the Endings of 2022 (The one from Kinsou no Vermeil) and she also sings one of my favorite Endings of all time (the one from GLEIPNIR, which I also hope your video-reactions , both to his OP and his ED). I don't have much to say about Berserk. Only that they massacred my boy with the CGI of the recent adaptations (the 97 version is the one you have to see). Yes, the openings are good and it is the only thing that does justice to this adaptation of the best Seinen and dark fantasy that has been written and drawn in the history of manga. Long live to Kentaro Miura!

Nah, Made in Abyss is the dark fantasy of the decade. It's both more dark and more fantasy. The big problem with Berserk is everyone wants to remake the Golden Age arc.

@@OmniscientlyMe You have a mouth full of reason. While it's true that I said that Goblin Slayer is the dark fantasy of the decade, Made in Abyss is in my top 10 of a lifetime. About the remake of the golden age, I don't lose hope, see that Kinnikuman will have his remake. With the manga I don't know whether to give up, we'll see how it goes now that Miura-sensei's assistant is taking it up again.

Old Berserk's opening is in Engrish but I still love it. It is actually considered a classic by many. Berserk 2017's Ending is good too. Berserk OSTs are awesome.

Berserk is such an important and masterfully crafted dark fantasy that paved the way for a lot of very important games and pieces of work, notably being largely part of the Dark Souls franchise inspiration and Guts "Dragon Slayer" being the foundation of Cloud Strife's Buster Sword in FF7. The series itself deals with a lot of dark themes and struggles but ultimately gives the motivating message of defying your "fate" no matter how impossible it might be while drenching it in deep character arcs and intense badassery while you follow Guts in his quest for finding purpose amidst a fate of violence and vengeance. Unfortunately no anime has done it anywhere near enough justice, the 90's adaptation being the closest we've ever gotten to that and the newest adaptation from 2016 being a shameful butchering of it's art style and not very faithful recreation of the story's events. The manga however produces some of the most amazing panels and pieces of art in manga history and is honestly worth it alone purely to see what Miura before his sudden and sad passing a few years ago created and evolved over his lifetime. It's not for the faint of heart that's for sure, but those willing to take the plunge will find a piece of work that deserves your time, recognition and praise. It is a MUST READ, AVOID watching it

Goblin slayer is amazing, the first episode really shows how serious the anime is going to be. I recommend giving it a try or atleast try to watch more than 1 episode. Also I would love to see the full opening of goblin slayer if that is possible.

Three of them not only dark but very dark, and took a very serious tone and also they are literally very gore. But, three of them are also my favourite series. Three of them are writtened really well. 'Another' is a supernatural series. 'Goblin Slayer' and 'Berserk' are super dark fantasy world story series.

Berserk is originally a still-unfinished manga that has been running since the late eighties. The original author died a couple of years ago, but his assistants and a close friend of his have taken over and vowed to finish it. There have been a few anime adaptions that only cover parts of the manga. The first is from the late 90s, and is notable for its amazing soundtrack. It covers the arc that gives the backstory of the main character, but leaves out a couple of characters like the fairy because they didn't play a major role in that arc. Next came a trilogy of three movies that covered the same story arc. They included most of the characters skipped over in the first adaption, but were necessarily even more condensed. Finally there were two series covering later arcs from the manga. These adaptions are frowned upon because of the painfully bad CGI used to animate them, despite been based on well-written arcs. The openings you saw are from those two series.

The animation of the movies is not that bad, especially with the memorial edition and in contrast with the 2016 anime, but yeah it doesn't do that much justice to the og art of the manga.

@@spheromancer_ I don't think anyone ever said the animation/art in the Memorial Edition series was bad. In fact I see most people praising it especially the 3rd movies material. People are mostly negative on it because they leave out some key characters (Skull Knight) and are still a bit condensed pacing wise for what it should be. Also because it re-treads the same arc that's been adapted now for a 3rd time. For all intents and purposes though I think the Memorial Edition is a great way to get into Berserk though I'd still suggest watching the 90's TV anime and then reading it being the best thing to do as it is still just the best way to experience the story. Maybe some day we get a true adaptation that does it justice with everything included and good animation, but until that day I will always recommend to just read Berserk.

Goblin Slayer is defenetly something you would enjoy and should watch It's basic gist is that it's a DnD campaign with the players being the worlds "gods" and everything in it is the campaign with the sole exception that Goblin Slayer defies it's rules through pure rage and hatred against the goblins which is symbolized with the Dice in the opening representing the rolls one does in the game. Goblin Slayer is a chad that often get's likened to a medieval Doom Guy and is very smart and ressourcefull with his fights.

Goblin Slayer is very good. The controversy comes from episode 1 where a girl was graped after being caught by Goblins Now that scene is horrific and gives us a glimpse as to why our mc has such a burning hate for them. I think it was a good decision to make it that way and put it in the first episode. It adds to the shock value and robs you from all sympathy towards goblins. Which is a good thing cause if you had even a little bit of sympathy towards them, you wouldn't be able to finnish the show.

The interesting thing from the song "Rightfully" by Mili for Goblin Slayer are the implications from the lyrics that the world is being controlled by dice rolling gods, or rather that the story is just a sort of DnD campaign and the Goblin Slayer is rebelling against his player. The short, non-spoiler synopsis of Another is: It's the equivalent to the anime thriller genre as Final Destination is to the western thriller genre. If you're interested, Another's Opening song is by a band called Ali Project. There is a running joke in the mid-2000's that all Ali Project songs sound the same. The seed of truth behind this is they basically developed their sound chasing their pop success with Rozen Maiden's opening, trying to make that lightning strike twice. Rozen Maiden would be another interesting entry for psychological thriller anime. Goblin Slayer definitely went overboard with its first episode for pure shock value, and there are several video essays about how the first episode actually harmed the series more than it helped. It is not indicative of the rest of the series starting with Ep 2. I wouldn't say Goblin Slayer is so much horror as it is gratuitous senseless violence in the same vein as John Wick. Higurashi is the poster child of understanding the difference between the 3 types of fear (as explained by Stephen King). To paraphrase: 1. The Gross-out: A severed head rolling down the stairs; a thread of unidentified red goo (probably blood) that drips from the ceiling onto your face; the face melting off the nazi in Indiana Jones. 2. The Horror: The unnatural/supernatural; giant monsters with sharp fangs and writhing tentacles; 6-foot tall spiders with clown faces; anything that jump-scares in general. 3. The Terror: The unsettling feeling under your skin when you come home and notice everything had been taken away and replaced by an exact replica. You can't explain it, and you definitely can't prove it, but you know in the back of your mind that everything is somehow wrong. Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni fits squarely in category 3, and explores how this kind of existential terror plays out in a very small town. The kind of small town where you can write every resident's name on a single sheet of paper, and there is only a single "all ages" classroom because there are only 5 or 6 children between the ages of 5 to 18 in a 30-mile radius.

Ou yes an another anime similiar to Another is Shiki an 22ep anime show from 2010 finished and completed. And i still get goosebumps from the Goblin Slayer OP ooooooh how i love it. As for the anime on in itself expect the first episode which is controversial the others are quite normal .... it is like the first episode was like a jump scare :D

Goblin Slayer is a good anime, the first episode start really hard but what happens next is ok even if it is still really violent, the only question is how youtube will react to it lmao Another good dark anime is Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni, pretty gore, lots of psychological horror, and the openings from the original anime (from 2007 or something like that) hit hard, you should react to the openings and endings

Another is 1 of those horror anime that takes advantage of the fear of the unknown since there’s no real antagonist or even some sort of scary monster or creature like most western horror but an invisible curse instead, many people describe it as an anime’s take on final destination where some intangible supernatural force is killing people and no one can stop it Basically taking place in 1998 in a small rural town in Japan, there is a school where in a class multiple individual will die each year due to an event that happen 26 years ago in 1972, the anime takes the perspective of the protagonist having moved into the town recently due to family complication and ended up being put into the class where the curse resides but everyone is acting weird keeping things from him including treating an certain eye patched girl as if she doesn’t exist all while various class members including those related to the class members start to slowly die off, killed in various unusual and/or gruesome ways If you like horror then you won’t be disappointed in another, there haven’t been that many new horror anime in a while but there will be a new horror anime scheduled to release it’s first episode within a week called dark gathering

Definitely please react to Higurashi openings, which has a total of 7 openings as of this comment. It's not exactly horror, but more like a psychological thriller. Milli is a great singer, I love her so much! On top of my head I'd also recommend Paper Bouquet, the opening song of The Executioner and Her Way of Life, as well as Mortal With You, the ending song of Vermeil in Gold.

Goblin Slayer is a really good dark fantasy anime... What you've heard about it mostly is related to its first episode... so, yeah it's messed up, but it becomes more soft down the line. It's originaly based on a D&D campaign made by the creator of the light novel about a guy who only cares about killing Goblins. I really love it! Berserk is one of the best mangas of all time and the epitome of dark fantasy. Deep themes, great characters, disturbing moments and some really beautiful moments as well. The first anime adaptation is actually really good and pretty much accurate... the movies and ova's are also great, and the 2016 version is horrible... As for Another, i only watched it recently, but it is worth it! real good horror premiss and cool story. All of them have messed up scenes, but yeah, they are horror or dark fantasy, so you might imagine some dark s***t is going to happen.

I watched Another, it's quite good, really It's been some time since I watched it, but I'll try to explain what Another is about: A student named Kouichi is transfered to a new school, he meets a girl in his class, Mei Misaki, but for some reason all the other students in their class don't acknowledge her existence. After that a series of deaths starts and the show delves deeper into the reason of their apreheension.

in terms of horror anime i'd like to mention dusk maiden of amnesia. its more 'light horror' + 'mystery' than these crazy extreme horror titels but its got an absolute great story, incredible musik and has a high "rewatch-value". you should react to the opening and ending + its ost "requiem". another is simply about a cursed school-class which has more [ ] than they can handle.

Ah, the dark side of anime. Gotta love it! The band that did the OP for Another (ALI PROJECT) was my favorite anime opening band before Myth and Roid came along, Their style stays the same. Their Rozen Maiden openings were awesome. Also I am so hyped for Goblin Slayer S2! I'm sad that the Berserk remake animation is CGI, but the story is still great. All three of those anime are good.

So a quick break down of the three without spoilers. Another is the most suspense/mystery style horror of the grouping, with a decent bit of atmospheric presence. Goblin slayer has the most shocking/horrifying first episode, and sets the tone for the rest of the series for what can happen to the group in any encounter. (Also has some smart use of environmental factors that you see more with dnd groups than standard fantasy of 'I run in and bop all the monsters on the head') Berserk has great fight scenes, but most of it's horror elements come from the cruelty of the world the cast lives in, and how there are not easy or hopeful solutions to the problems they face. Just pushing through the mire of blood and excrement to achieve something, anything of lasting value.

Berserk can be recapped as 'when a man becomes a LITERAL monster to fight other monsters'. Guts (the main character) learned to wield a longsword when he was a child, grew up using a claymore as a young adult and to fight monsters he wielded the Dragon Slayer, whose description in the manga is 'a heap of raw iron'. That thing should weigh more than 100 lbs (real life greatswords at MOST weighed 10 lbs) and he uses it often with only ONE hand...

On the synopsis of Another. Its about a boy tht returns to his hometown many years later and transfers back to their local highschool. He comes across the main girl in a hospital when he visited there and turns out she is his classmate. He finds it strange tht the classmates dont seem to acknowledge her existence, like they cant see her. Some of his classmates warn about the curse of the classroom they are in and tht doin something he isnt supposed to will cause a series of unfortunate events to happen.

as others have probably said: (usually the epic opening that everyone is referring to is the original/old first season of Berserk 1997, though the openings of Berserk 2016 and Berserk 2017, are good as well) season 1: Berserk (1997) season 2: Berserk 2016 // direct sequel to Berserk 1997 season 3: Berserk 2017 // direct sequel to Berserk 2016 there's also a 3-part OVA that retells (main) part of the story ("The Golden Age") that is within Berserk (1997), with really good animation, unlike the more controversial 3D CGI of Berserk 2016 and Berserk 2017 once you watch the original/old season 1 of Berserk (1997), if you don't mind the 3D cgi of Berserk 2016 and Berserk 2017, highly recommend to watch those, as they continue the story of Berserk, and get pretty "close" to catching up with the manga, and the action scenes are really really good (despite how many don't like the 3D cgi, they're really missing out on at least the action scenes), otherwise, people just read the manga, if they can't handle the 3D cgi of Berserk 2016 and Berserk 2017

I never watched Another... But I saw that god damnd umbrella scene (those that know, know), and it scarred me for live. Story wise, from what I know, it's about a cursed class. One of the students is long dead, resulting in a curse that kills students or their relatives on a monthly basis. Only way to break it, is to find the "ghost student" and kill them again. Problem is: no one, not even the "ghost student" themself, knows who the ghost is.

Another is about a haunted class. All 27 years (IIRC), one of the classmates dies, but still manages to be in class the next year. As long, as they don't find the 'dead person' among them (after they somehow have to find out, that there is a curse and a dead person among them) and kill him/her, the students, teachers, friends, whoever has a connection to that class will die from time to time. After this special year, all memories about that will soon disappear, whether they managed to find out or not and after 27 years, it'll start again.

goblin slayer is a good anime, a protagonist who knows his limits in what he can or cannot do, nothing to fight alone against more than 3 enemies and what he is looking for when hunting goblings is redemption is all I could tell you without throwing spoilers
