Boz Scaggs is another example of Blue Eyed Soul. I love this concert as he sings all of his hits throughout this concert. 'Look What You've Done to Me' was one of Scaggs' biggest hits from the Urban Cowboy soundtrack (1980)
As a sax player, I have to say that up until you made the analogy, I never would have made the connection, but once you did it is just clicked. Yep, you nailed it. His voice like a smooth, mellow saxophone.
Jack Nicholson noted, in his hey day, that whenever he entertained a woman he always had Boz Scaggs music playing in the back ground. It worked for him. When Boz sings it's like butter. So smooth. He went to high school with Steve Miller and they started their first band together then. He is a prolific songwriter and seeing him in concert is a treat. Please keep exploring this rabbit hole as there are many more treasures to discover. And the two ladies at the end, Barbara and Monet, were quite the surprise.

"We're All Alone" is my favorite Boz Scaggs song. Which had two amazing versions, Boz's and Rita Coolidge at around the same time in 1977, but was originally recorded by Frankie Valli in 1976. I love Boz's version the most, the string arrangement alone on the studio recording is what makes the song! Add his smooth vocals that climb to amazing heights...it's chef's kiss!
When the band comes in and fills the stage it's like the sun coming up. The calm and quiet of early morning twilight begins to give way to the dawn and the world wakes up all around filling the air with sounds and movement and life.
Boz is amazing. He has so much good stuff, and I think this is an incredibly deep dive. I love it. He started as a guitar player with Steve Miller Band, and his first couple albums, it was the Steve Miller Band (- Steve) in the studio. Still out there doing his thing. Thanks for this.

I’ve heard Boz Skaggs tell the story of what influenced him to pursue a career in music. When he was young his father took him to see Ray Charles perform. He enjoyed it immensely and he wanted to sing like Ray.
Again... Another no name that just came out of nowhere, in the mid 70s. " Ledo Shuffle." Was one of his early Pop tunes, but the piece that brought him to the forefront was the song; " Dirty Lowdown. " That is my number One Bozz Scaggs tune. "Look what you've done to me, is my second favorite. This song holds a special place in my heart, as one of those I used to hear on late night radio in the dead of winter. Laying in bed with the winter winds howling outside, rattling the windows in the frame, keeping warm inside listening to the sounds of Boz in my darkened room, lighted only by the stereo dial and stereo components lighting up the room.
I’ve been a Boz Scaggs fan for many years, he has a percussion or unplugged version, amazing, and I’ve heard those two gals many times in my patio listening to his music. Silk Degrees, one of his best albums, check it out. Much love ❤️

Boz is always great ballades like "We're All Alone", "“What’s New”", "We Were Always Sweethearts". he's just classy and smooth songs like "JoJo" and "Lowdown" really well known but my fave is the rocker "Breakdown Dead Ahead"... he's just has that jazzy class in everything he does. btw... you know he was in Steve Miller's band in the late 60's.

Unfortunately I listened to him at an extremely difficult period of my life,so hearing this song makes my heart ache in a very different way…strange(and usually wonderful!) thing about music! If you’re talking about lowdown he performed it on this concert,a tribute to Boz Scaggs greatest hits in 2004. You should check it out at some point. If I remember right the backup singers on the album didn’t do the solo at the end like this, I believe this was Boz giving them the spotlight because he probably heard them singing it in practice and loved it.

This soulful tune is an ethereal connection I had to a great love of my life, who died in 1993. This song always lifts me back to those special moments. For me, it is a melancholy sojourn to memories of wonderful days and magical nights.
He has such a great voice. One of my favorite songs of his. His song Harbor Lights is also one of my favorites. He has so many great songs. Very easy to get lost in his music.
I've heard this version many times and as a lover of the saxophone I would agree. It's like a symphony of orchestrated pleasures combined with an awesome falsetto to really compliment it.

He left the US for some tours in England and around the area and came back and releases Silk Degrees and this song. "Slowdancer" is a real hit from one of his early albums but here is alive version a few years back. In the mid nineteen seventies his music was all over the streets of NYC. Everyone had a radio and Boz was coming out of every bodega and every bar. He was the white Al Green.
This song is on the soundtrack to the movie Urban Cowboy an American Classic that had a huge influence on the early 80s kids. Everyone was sporting a Cowboy hat after seeing the movie. And the soundtrack was excellent. You should watch the movie sometime I think you will enjoy it.

And may I add the sax when played right has a sound that feels like it's being pulled from the soul. I say pulled because it has a raw, unpolished sincerity to it..
