I totally agree with this recommendation to react to Home Free's cover of the Crosby, Stills, and Nash song "Helplessly Hoping". It is another example of their ability to deliver pure, vocal artistry while still honoring the original song. Then there are many other wildly entertaining and humourous songs as well. Now that you have seen the bass singing lead, go for the opposite and review "When A Man Loves A Woman" to see Austin Brown, the tenor of the group, sing the lead and absolutely blow your mind. If you are not in love with him when the song ends, then you ain't female, honey. Also be sure to see "Man of Constant Sorrow" to see how well they can mimic instruments in their songs. You didn't see any beat boxing in this one, but their beat boxer is Adam Rupp and he is a two time world beat boxing champion, as you will well see in most of their songs. Loved your reaction, and with Home Free, you ain't seen nothing yet.

Your reaction was great! The look on your face and almost being speechless was priceless and I completely understand! My reaction when I heard this the first time was one of being totally broken down and breathless, I wept like a child and it took a while for me to recover, and I'm not sure really if I have because I still am crying and almost in complete inability to express my thoughts and feelings about this Powerful performance! I'm conflicted because I have so many things I want to say about it but can't get the words to come out the way I want them to. I don't think that I would have handled your position as well as you did with this video being so new to your introduction to Home Free, with TIM our " FIRE BREATHING DRAGON ' going below the depths of the ocean for those low notes and those beautiful contrasting high tenor notes from the other guys! I think I might have gone into heart failure and just gone ahead and died on the spot! You are now just getting started! The rabbit hole is very deep and oh so much fun! You are going to have a blast on your journey and it's a sweet sweet ride! Home Free is multi-talented and each member can sing different parts and each can beatbox! Adam Rupp is the FREAK OF NATURE and multiple times champion Beatboxer/vocal percussionist! Expect lots of surprise's and switch ups! Home Free is also extremely versatile and can sing Anything! All genre's! They have the most beautiful and tight harmonies I've ever heard in my life.That is saying a lot for me because I'm 63 yrs old tomorrow and I've been involved in music performance for almost 50 yrs and I love all different kinds! Home Free is different than most other acapella groups because they lean heavily into country music but not solely! Home Free, Ptx, and Voice Play are all good friends and there is no competition or jealousy between them at all! They have worked on multiple projects together from Avi being in HF videos to Geoff being asked to arrange a HF video, which is really great! HF ft. The Oak Ridge Boy's in" ELVIRA!" Truthfully they don't like to be compared to each other because it can invite division and discord. Whatever is your preference in music Home Free provides. I think PTX and Voice Play are very talented too! I think that it is way cool how all three groups are veterans of the NBC TV acapella singing talent competition THE SING OFF! PTX on season 3 and being the winner, Home Free and Voice Play on season 4 with VP reaching the semi-finals and Home Free being named the winner! There is plenty of room for everyone! Also one of the things I love about HF is how open and willing they are to share themselves and their private lives with us. They have actually said that they consider the Home Fry's as family members and they really make us feel loved and appreciated! That feeling is very mutual because they have given new meaning to my life (and so many people) by helping me through what otherwise would be much more difficult to manage days and nights because of some major health issues. Don't worry about what you have missed, it's a brand new day with so many possibilities and the Home Fry's will be here for you excited and anxious for each reaction! Keep your eyes open wide for the influx of new listeners because the Fry's are going to come running, expect an exponential rise of subs! By many, if not most, who follow Home Free, this is considered an A Capella masterpiece and their finest work thus far, as you just witnessed, even though they have done more than 150 videos. This was released in advance of Veterans Day as a tribute to all those who have suffered the horrors of war. Home Free is known to have the richest harmonies in the world of A Capella, and they have a huge fan base known as Home Fries. If you add Home Free to you reaction list, your channel will grow even more exponentially. Their talent is unsurpassed and they never disappoint the listener. Their portfolio is amazing.

The lead singer in this is Tim Foust (the bass). He has a 5-octave range. The 2ns to sing was Adam Chance (called Chance) he is the baritone but he takes over bass when Tim sings lead. This has quickly become my favorite from HF. it's so powerful, haunting, sad, and beautiful. It's actually an antiwar song... sung by a dying soldier on the battlefield about life and his fellow soldiers. It always makes me cry. Usually when Tim sings "Now the sun’s gone to hell/And the moon’s riding high/Let me bid you farewell/Every man has to die." It was written by Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits. Thank you for your reaction. It was great to hear someone fall in love with these guys. They are as special.

I hope Megan reads the comments (hard to tell when she doesn't hit the Like button), but this is exactly what she needed to know. She obviously felt all the feels, viscerally, but seemed to have no conscious knowledge about what was actually going on. Personally, I loved the technique where Tim and Chance each appear a bit ghostly transparent when standing by the window.

The song was written by Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits he wrote it about the British troops who won back the Falkland Islands after they were invaded by the Argentinians, I have since heard him say he now dedicates this song to soldiers from any country.

I am speaking as a Veteran of war. Being in combat, risking death time and time again brings soldiers together. They indeed can become closer than blood kin. I hear the soldier in the last moments of death, the harmonies that surround him are angelic. This song carries a reverance that touches the soul. HF is able to touch the sanctity of life and the holiness of the moment of our departure from this experience to a realm beyond.

The song is about a soldier dying on the battle field and talking to his comrades as he dies. Please watch it again and pay attention to the words, without the stopping and talking. To those of us who have been through it and know the feeling of people shooting at you, this song is almost a prayer.

A Man of Constant Sorrow will give you a much better example of their individual and group abilities. The Butts Remix will put a fresh coat of oil on your giggle-box. How Great Thou Are will give you a good few minutes of absolute awh. Adam Rupp (beat boxer) does a 6-8 minute solo on the drums...vocally....that will blow your mind. Enjoy. Oh, Brothers in Arms and the military cemetery on Veterans Day works for me.

Great ideas. I love that Home Free feature Tim as a bass rather than just a background vocalist. Everybody walking this Land emphasises this too. HF & Voice Play & Voctave and Ptx are all great groups. They are all a bit different and emphasise different things. So you can like them all😂

This cover of theirs is very difficult for me to listen to because it is so deeply emotional. I love Home Free and am a dedicated Home Fry. You definitely need to do more Home Free. These guys have a much lighter side, but, as you have so obviously witnessed, have the ability to perform such that they connect on a truly visceral level. So, to listen to something fun that shows their lighthearted spirits, you might try the Butts Remix. Helplessly Hoping, a Crosby Still and Nash cover, I think shows their true vocal ability better than any other. For overall exposure to the group, try Man of Constant Sorrow. You will find that most Pentaholics are also Home Fries. The common ground is that we love truly outstanding vocal performances. You won't go wrong with any of their music.

There's so much symbolism in the videography to support the story of the song. A soldier dying and talking to his brothers in arms that surround him. Black and white with fused lighting and haunting harmonies set the atmosphere. Then when Tim and Chance are by the window they become transparent as if they are now a spirit. The ending with the flag and Adam's wind sounds, just sort of wreck you. Absolute perfection!

Looking for something majestic: React to "how great thou art" Looking for country: React to "Man of Constant Sorrow" or "Country Roads" Looking for country & fun: React to "Thank God I'm a Country Boy" Need an extra laugh: React to "All About That Bass" Need some love?: React to "When a Man Loves a Woman" ... and the list goes on.... If you like you can also do a "double reaction". For many of their videos they also have a "making of". React to the original video first and add the one "from the vaults" afterwards. Those versions show, how the original video was made, where it was recorded and how much fun they had while recording...

Home Free is my favorite group of performers. As a group they are supportive of each other and dedicated to producing great music. They have over 130 covers, of those they have taken ownership of most of them. Each member is superior in their own right, the group has five tenors, five beat boxers, and two bassists, though Chance is referred to as a baritone, only because Tim has few equals. Adam is world class as a beat boxer, Rob has one of the sweetest tenors and the "pop" style of the group. And as many will tell you Austin has entered the dreams of many fair maiden with his smile and voice; "When a Man Loves a Woman" may actually increase birthrates in many regions that patronize this style of singing. Austin, Tim and Chance each have their own channels and work with other groups as featured artists. You cannot go wrong with choosing a song of theirs though I do have my favorites. Also some that I would pass on rehearing, though very, very few. Please, take the time to hear a few more of their songs, a few of their live performances are recorded on RU-vid, you will not be disappointed.

This is hauntingly beautiful. Tim is the bass. He has a 5 octave range so he can go low like this song and yet sing in the tenor range. Loved Tim’s low notes. Loved the echoes. Love the black and white film. Tim and Chance (baritone/bass) looked ghost like in the windows. It’s a Dire Strait song about the Falkland War. So good. Home Free is really known for their harmonies. Try Helplessly Hoping, One Man Band, In the Blood for more great harmonies. Good reaction. It is hard to talk after this one Megan.

This was their latest dropped video. The Bass is Tim and he has a 5-octave range so he can go lower than low and also high. You don't have to wait for multiple asks if you like Home Free they have loads of videos on their page serious ones with the harmonies and funny ones, originals and covers, just pick the one you like and the Home Fries will show up to view your reaction. Welcome to the new world of Home Fries... This song will hit just as hard when you listen (or it did hit just as hard when you listened?) to it for the words and their meaning. The combination of those words and the haunting beauty of the harmonies and Tim's deep voice are truly heart rending. If you read the message they wrote about the song, while it was originally written and performed by Dire Straits to protest the Falklands War (or the Malvinas, depending on your perspective), Home Free takes the broader view that we are a nation divided against itself, and we are ALL "brothers in arms" in this sense - so their version is a call to all of us to come together and stop the fighting. They make this very clear in their own words. One of the great things about this group is their emphasis on healing and positivity, and while they do have a wide streak of American patriotism in their music, it is not about how anyone is better than anybody else, but how we can all be better together as a nation. The more you hear from them, the more you have to admire their messages.

This song is a cover of an anti-war song by Dire Straits written during the Falkland War from the perspective of a dying soldier on the battlefield, surrounded by his brothers in arms. If you can calm yourself down enough...listen to the words and the message. That alone will also bring you to tears, and combined with Home Free's talent, it's intended to make you think about the message that we are ALL brothers in arms.

Home Free is one of the most professional with a sense of humor groups out there. Tim Foust, the bass, has a 5 octave range and can sing Tenor just as easily as the bass registers. Dive Bar Saints is another that shows off the whole group's talent.

Great reaction, pretty close to my 'where the hell have I been' the first time I heard them. I clicked on a cover of American Pie and slid straight into the Home Free rabbit hole. Don McLean, I learned later, asked Home Free to join him in the 50 year re-release of the song. His voice will still give you chills. (I'll admit, I was--ahem--around for the first release.) To hear HF individual voices, that's the the song. IIRC, Adam Chance, called "Chance," baritone with a 4 octave range, sings first. Austin Brown, high tenor, blessed with a voice like none other, is second. Third, Rob Lundquist, lead tenor with a sweet, soulful sound. Fourth, Tim Foust, bass, 5 octave range. When he started singing I said wait a minute, that guy was bass a minute ago, now he's tenor??? Throughout, be sure to keep an ear on multi-talented Adam Rupp, the best beatboxer in the business. I don't know how he kept it up through that very long song without dying from oxygen deprivation, but he did. He always does. He sings a beautiful tenor, too. Please check out the songs mentioned in the comments below. You can't go wrong with any choice. You also might want to react to Honey I'm Good, When a Man Loves a Woman, One Man Band, My Church, or Dreamer (one of their originals).

How Great Thou Are, even if you are not that religeous, will bring you to tears. My church, Go Rest High. Home Free can be serious, to comical and everything in between. These gentlemen try to be as perfect as a group can be with their music. Your reaction to Brothers In Arms is typical for first time listners of their serious songs.

Welcome back to the Home Free rabbit hole! This is their latest release & probably one of the best they've ever done, IMO. These guys are truly amazing talented. I saw them live for the first time about a month ago. They sound just as good in person. Tim, the bass, has a 5-octave range. But his bass range is impressive. I was sitting in the 2nd row for the concert & felt my seat vibrate a couple of times. They did "Ring of Fire" (the first one you reacted to) as an encore & when Tim hit that massive low note at the end, I felt the floor vibrate (we were all standing) & my chest hurt! This one features mostly Tim & Chance (Adam Chance). If you want to hear what all of them can do, I suggest two of their latest releases, "One Man Band" and "Bless the Broken Road". Of course, any Home Free video is a good choice.

Dire Straits wrote this song during the 1983 Falklands War between Britain and Argentina. They are a hugely talented group.

Check out Tim Foust Home Free bass. Tim and Peter hollens did Misty Mountains. Tim's bass will blow you away. Tim has blown sound systems on stage.

"Helplessly Hoping", "In the Blood", for Christmas you need to check out "Do You Hear What I Hear". This arrangement for this traditional Christmas song is totally off the chain, down the hill and through the field and beyond. Home Free has a unique ability to strike a cord with their music. Whether the cord is contemplative or just pure fun, they never fail to deliver.

Hope you’re ready for a fantastic journey down the Home Free rabbit hole! These guys are phenomenal, both in their talent and their interaction with their audiences. One of their best (heck, let’s face it-they’re all the best!) is Mayday, but we Home Fries pretty much agree that you get to know the guys pretty well before you react to Mayday. Also, it’s great to do some of their live performances as well as their videos to really get the impact of their abilities. Man of Constant Sorrow shows their versatility and they have several solos so that you get a better idea of who they are. Welcome and look forward to seeing you react to Home Free…I love to see someone as awestruck as I was when I first heard them (April ‘21) and I still can’t get through the day without hearing them-makes my day!

It was written by Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits about a dying soldier in the Falklands War a British conflict with Argentina on 1985, and what he was saying to the men round him, his comrades in Arms. Listen to it again, its heartbreaking....

The guy with the bass voice, Tim Foust, has done an absolute killer song with a guy called Peter Hollens, called "Misty Mountains". Another bass singer you need to listen to is Geoff Castellucci. Try his cover of "Sixteen Tons".

Girl, you can't go wrong with Home Free. As much as I love Avi and Ring of Fire was my introduction to these guys, it is far from being on my favourite Home Free song list. Simply because there are so many songs they do so incredibly well. They do mostly covers, but they also have great originals. They do covers because they think there's so much good music already that should be loved on, and they sprinkle it with originals. I agree with them. There are so many songs I've heard so many times, this one included, that I never cared that much for until Home Free did it. I saw a suggestion for When a Man Loves a Woman to be your next reaction to get the opposite end of the stick and I second that. You will most definitely be blown away yet again. Since there are absolutely NO bad Home Free songs and many people have suggested great songs for your reaction, I’ll talk about the song. The was written by a British rock band shortly after the British Falkland Island war but applies to all conflicts. It was released in time for Veterans Day 2021 and is a fitting tribute I think. The arrangement was done by Club for Five, a Finnish Vocal group but Tim requested it from their bass. Of course, Home Free just did an amazing job. Thanks for your reaction

The meaning of this song is best summed up in the words "You did not desert me, my Brothers in Arms"......"Brothers in Arms" classically refers to your fellow soldiers, with whom you've developed an incredibly powerful bond, all while fighting desperately, at risk of your own life, to keep your "brothers" alive.

Such a genius touch to show the silhouette of the fellas in front of the window. I know some see it as a "ghost"y reference but it strikes me as a reflection of the POW/MIA flag. We'll never know just how many of those met the same fate as the soldier of this song. 😥 (And just an aside, if you react to more Home Free songs your subscriptions will blow up--Home Fries (the fans of Home Free) are extremely loyal to wherever our guys' music shows up!)

I have been following these guys for years now. Their earlier stuff is more light hearted covers. I love the growth I hear in their newer songs as a fan. Every piece they sing is a beautiful collection of voices, gathered by God. Truly love listening to these guys❤️
