It’s hard to say any one of them gets lost in the shuffle, but I think Kirstie may be the most underrated singer/songwriter of the bunch. Water is a gem and she is just magnificent singing it. Glad you made the time for this performance, I know it’s more of a commitment than the average reaction. I enjoyed it very much. Peace …
I love when a reactor takes on Popspring! It’s a perfect way to showcase how good they are live, and to hear three of their original songs, plus MJ of course. I find myself randomly singing “Water” a lot, lol! I’m so glad you liked it, too!
Just a note, during the bridge, those really stratosphere high notes are coming from Kevin.😁 There aren't many songs that grab you at first listen, but this is one of them. Written by Kirstie and Kevin I believe. It is unbelievable that radio does not play their music.
Water is my favorite from this set. The whole vibe is so cool.Vocally Scott is a riffing beast. Live they are such a treat. They do more than just sing, they literally interact with the crowd. Kevin's ability to beatbox through an entire show is crazy endurance. That's what always amazes me about them, being in sync with each other and keeping that flowing through the entire act. This is live..Avi's bass is special. Mitch and high notes, treasure. love that, you vibe attracts your tribe...
You finally got a taste of PTX original music!!! They just don't do covers baby!! Check out their The Lucky Ones(deluxe) album all originals and all bangers! I knew you'd love Popspring 😂 I kneeewww Water would have you feeling some type of way! ❤😂 Great reaction
Glad that you reacted to this one. It's a fan favorite. Thanks. Happy that you loved "Water". Me too. I love when Kirstin is the main songwriter/cowriter and lead for Pentatonix songs.
The three original songs come from Pentatonix's 2015 self-titled originals album. "Water" is one of my favorites and was written by Kirstie, Kevin and a songwriter called Audra Mae. It never got an official video, so I'm really glad to have this great live version.
Hey doll, since you're in the studio a lot & you've mentioned wondering how each song gets started & arranged, I wanted to leave you a link that you'll really enjoy! Whether it's a cover or original, it usually starts with someone in the band mentioning an idea & then they just jam to start developing it & at some point the unofficial 6th member of PTX, Ben Brahm, will come in to help finish the arrangement. This link is for a collection of random jamming sessions that shows how they arrange! Hope you enjoy! Oh, and we've decided they are all alien unicorns😉 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GjhdU1rktpg.html
Trust me, Kevin is breathing. He incorporates sounds that happen on an inhalation throughout. He's also said that when he needs to burp (because they drink so much water) he just incorporates the burp into his beatboxing. And Kirstin gave him a dirty look and basically accused him of gloating because singers can't do that.
There is another vid on youtube from this concert. It has the whole of PTX's performance (about an hour, in case you want to just check it out on your own) but you see now why everyone recommended this cut vid. It's just long enough to give someone new to PTX a good feeling of what it's like to be at 1 of their concerts, but it features 3 great originals of different genres & lets you see the "choreo" they came up with for Evo of MJ since that wasn't in their official vid for it.
I feel like Love Again was their first original song. But Can’t Sleep Love did make it to #1 on the billboard charts, maybe that’s what you’re remembering. It’s also my favorite song, specifically with Mitch doing the rap, although I like the official version as well. Water was written Kirstie and Kevin. It’s phenomenal.
No. Not their first original. They were doing originals back in 2014. Baddest Girl and Show You How to Love, and Love Again was from their July 2014 PTX Vol 1. Standing By, Run to You, and Natural Disaster from their 2014 album PTX, also from Vol 2 (October 2014).
1st an original song. No Avi is the one for me. That bass is hott. My girl is called not Kristy but Kristy sounds like thirsty. 2nd original song. 4th original song again.
"Too much Soul" and Scott isn't even doing his thing in this one! This group is absolutely amazing. Each one has MULTIPLE talents, especially Kevin (you already heard his crazy origin story). Scott can get REALLY soulful, Kirstie can belt like a Siren, Mitch... yeah. Avi and Matt on the Bass, K.O. can sing too! And Kevin wasn't recruited to the group as a singer. He clearly took voice lessons as part of his career because you can tell he's improved over the years. It's hard to tell because he sings so rarely but when he does, it's evident. The vibes their songs give us are totally real. I drive Uber at night and a girl cried in my car after hearing "Hallelujah". Another time, three girls twerked in their seats and were LOUD and excited when I put on "Daft Punk" or "Love Again". They sing to "Bohemian Rhapsody" and they get Mitch-Slapped on certain songs. It's entertaining AF. About 60% of people have never heard of them before and they're blown away. Also: Bose speakers for the win!
@@sharonh951 It would be really interesting if one of the Trio learned how to beatbox. Scott takes over the Bass when Matt (or Avi) sings but Kevin has no backup. Granted, it's a lot of work to master beatboxing but if anyone could do it....
I love your reactions. The fact that you are a producer puts your videos on a different level. Having said that, there have been the occasion when you say things that are offensive to certain populations. Like when you said something to the effect that Scott chose to be gay. The fact is that he no more chose to be gay than you chose to be straight. He was born that way. So the comment that he could get any woman he wanted was insensitive. That would be like someone telling you that you could get any man you wanted.
That wouldn’t offend me my skin is thick feel me ..it’s just words I didn’t intend to what ur implying…but I greatly appreciate your support ..I love all people
That bass indeed! There are some really good basses out there, but none as great as Avi Kaplan. Classically/Operatically trained Basso Profundo with the greatest resonance of them all. YOu really should react to some of his solo work. Much more to the folk, western, country side, but his voice is so fabulous.
Such a great set, lovely reaction. Kirstie was on fire during water, MJs hits were amazing. All the Mitch-slaps, Scott riffs, Avi's full, warm bass and Kevin as a drum machine. Fantastic, enjoyed your vibing.
I love this performance!!! MJ had tons of hits but when they are smashed together like they do it truly becomes “Oh love this one. Ahhh one of my favorites” til we finally realize and remember how great he really was. And with such a massive following in Japan, I don’t see them there and not doing his evolution. Water is insane. It has a way of captivating you into a trance like state. Me, it’s to the point of, don’t drive and listen as ya might get sucked in so much that you forget basic rules of the road. It is a favorite original of mine. Glad you like it too. Just remember, it’s Kirsten not Kristen. Can’t wait to see more from you
I would suggest you listen to Rise -Katy Perry cover by Superfruit. I think you would enjoy it. It gives me goosebumps every time I watch it. You might already know but superfruit is Scott and Mitch.
I am partial to the studio version of "Water", because it has a few sections with Kirstin's vocals layered in a way that cannot be duplicated live, and the balance is (understandably) perfect. There isn't an official video, but there are audio-only and lyrics videos available. You might want to listen to one of them to get the full realization of Kirstin, Kevin and Audra Mae's composition.
The metranome comment, I think they learnt from way back in their 'Sing off' competition days where they were criticised for speeding up. Plus Kevin is pure genius.
You know, nobody believed them, but the Beatles said that Ringo was what made the band: nothing fancy but dead steady. Kevin’s dead steady but he’s got the fancy, too.
Popspring is one of my favorite vids! Their originals are so so excellent and Water gives me chills and goosebumps every time! I hope you do one of their first originals (the first?) called Love Again. I think it will be 🤯. I wish you would also do See Through (audio only)- I always request it from reactors, but few take me up on it 😭. 😁
👋They are just So AMAZING, so you know they can do this LIVE!! Cracked Can't Sleep Love Water Are PENTATONIX originals!!! Are you going to continue the Sing Off series??
All original songs, except, obviously "Evolution of Michael Jackson". And where does Scott manage to get all those great jackets? On the current tour they are doing "Can't Sleep Love", but I think I still prefer this version.
Glad you enjoyed the concert! Water is my favorite of the originals they performed, and I think it's a shame that they never made an official video for it, but at least we've got this one to enjoy!
Please do some originals. Different members helped write the songs: “Sing” (I dare you to not move) “Be My Eyes” - Kirstin shines “Coffee in Bed” “Thank You” - Scott wrote this and plays piano Scott also has a single he released late last year called “Mars”. I can’t remember if you have reacted to that or not, BTW- I think you need to buy “Water” and put it on a playlist. definitely know what you mean about it putting you in a zone.
I was late to the party, too - I just discovered Pentatonix last September. We find out about things when we find out; no use obsessing over the fact that we missed them earlier.
5 Heartbeats was one of my favorite movies so when you referenced Eddie and showed the clips. It took me back to my childhood. Flash worked at my mom's job like a decade or more after that movie came out. I was hype.
Love your reaction 👍 It's always a joy to see again Popspring Special, this is just phenomenal how they sound live and how great are their originals. Wonderful ! They all shine for me in this one but Avi, that smooth bass which caresses you, it's just incredible. Hope to see you react to Avi solo work, he's mind blowing 😍I recommend When I'm a fool live at Sunset Sound with Shooter Jennings. You'll see what his world of music is about. A masterpiece of music. Avi's singer, writter, musician, arrangist ... he just feels music and this is wonderful. Hope to see you react to this one sometimes. Thanks for this moment 😘
Hey Wolli, I had to look up who the Knicks are because Sports are not at all my forté, but that's what Google is for. Are you therefore in New York? If so, are you gonna go to one of the two PTX concerts in that State in August? If it's just a hat, where are you located and will a PTX concert be coming your way this year? I bet you and your family would LOVE to go! I saw them at the Hollywood Bowl last year and they were FIRE.
u know i love your reactions, but the comment abt scott "choosing" to be gay was a lil off!! seen odd replies from u in comments about them too, just wanna check in. nobody chooses who theyre attracted to, yknow? scott & mitch & kirstin are just not hetero, and they were born that way 😊🌈✨️
It’s just a real strange that in Perth Australia and made a better job than the very j dud, ASAP? OR HE WILL ACTUALLY RUIN YOU. Stand your ground. Don’t listen too three Moth. Hmmmm!!!! I actually think, you bark is better than bite on A Brike.ok. By the way.did anyone other than steve. Been in touch with my boy. ❤️🙏🤷♀️🫶🇬🇧👍😍🤪🙄😇🍀
Dude... love your reactions but her name is KIRSTIE....not KRISTIN. Pronounced like Kermit the frog ( really bad analogy, but still) say it with me now Keeeeerrrrrstie 😂 lol
