Oh, in case you didn't know, the newscaster is Tom's sister. She moved down to Cali with her husband and now Tom and Nova employ them both. This was my first Tom MacDonald experience. It was summer of 2020 and I was looking for something OTHER than riots protests and looting - i disconnected my DirecTV cuz I was done with TV, and I went to RU-vid and found a reaction channel - never knew these existed - of some young dude "Rap fan listens to Metallica for the first time". I was intrigued having grown up in the 80s and Metallica was my fav band. I had a blast watching vicariously through the young man's eyes discovering the greatness of the music I was obsessed with my whole life - i started digging deeper and found dozens of these reaction channels existed, and all them simultaneously reacted to this song by this weird looked tatted up braided dude that raps - and i don't like rap, so I never bothered, but every single channel was doing this and I didn't understand the hype. So late one night I said "fine i'll check it out just so I can say i did it, and then can move on and realize it wasn't my thing." Boy was I wrong. 30 seconds in I'm cheesing over here laughing and loving it and by the end of it, I was ready to watch every channel's reaction. Next morning I showed my wife, and she fell in love with the song; i still remember her going "OH MY I LOVE THIS GUY!" I spent the next day listening to ever video of his I could find and I was hooked. I bought every one of his CDs online that day, and he has become my favorite artist since discovering Metallica back in 1986.

I'm with you on canceling participation trophies! When I was young we'd throw our second and third place trophies in the trash. My soccer coach made us stay on the sidelines and watch the other team celebrate after they beat us in the 1996 regional finals, because he wanted us to use our sadness and anger as fuel to do better the next year. I love that you agree. I thought these reactions were going to go a different way, probably because of they way the world is right now. Tom Macdonald should be a politician honestly. He speaks the cold hard truths. Thanks for having an open mind and actually listening because more people need to see and hear it, and when ppl react positively to it, other eyes get opened as well

Your use of the word Conviction is spot on. Most people today crack under the slightest amount of pressure or debate, they lack conviction, and somehow that's something to strive for. "You don't wanna deal with yourself" 100%

I just stumbled on to your video. We are both Britt's . Our name is derived from Britania. The people called britons were from what was once known as Britania. They decended from picts. They were the only people to defeat the Roman troops as they conquered what is England. They were strong and brash and had no shame but they could use their brains and outsmart a empire. I think that translates because you can play a controversial artist, react like a sane person, and even find the capability to self reflect and find flaws you may have once been "guilty" of without being "triggered". I use quotation marks because you can't say, write (do people write anymore?) Or type anything without being nailed to the perviable cross much like the one McDonald's video. I loved your reaction and your insights. It was a breath of hope to me.

My son was in rec league soccer from elementary school through most of high school with the same guys. Their last year they played every game and LOST every game, but they were all there having fun together.
