Gotye is a music genius. If you know, you know. This was his commercial breakout song, and it's Pop-y but his discography is a wonderful bag of music. He plays many instruments. On this particular album, he played most of the instruments himself and used unconventional "instruments" which is so creative. I recommend you check out his music. I think you will like it!! He is definitely one of my favorite musicians.

Just FYI... there have been so many covers of this song, that Gotye, himself, put together a musical collage of it, and it's hysterical! Do a YT search for "Gotye - Somebodies: A RU-vid Orchestra"

This song is fire for sure! However, I’d love to see Kimbra’s music get more love or reactions too. She’s a great artist on her own and love her song “Settle Down”. Highly recommend.

Peter Gabriel was the Lead Singer of Genesis before Phil Collins stepped in after Peter left the group. My favorite Gabriel song (that you should hear) from his solo career is, Shock the Monkey.

ngl I absolutely hated this song when it was playing on the radio nonstop but as I've gotten older and didn't have to hear it every 30 minutes, I've really grown to appreciate it. Really a gem that was partially ruined by radio companies. There was a point though that it was playing on 3 different radio stations at once and sometimes they'd synch up perfectly

It would have been nice had you acknowledged Kimbra's contribution to the song. The song launched her career while it signaled the end of his. Kimbra is a very eccentric performance artist and not especially main stream. That said I really enjoy all the places she takes her music. She is a complete musician who writes and arranges all of her music and choreographs all of her videos. You should really listen to the band Bon Iver (pronounced bone e-vair, it's French meaning Good Winter). The lead singer of the band, Justin Vernon, graduated from the same high school as my kids. His singing voice sounds a lot like Allen Stone. You could start with the song Skinny Love, then work your way through the rest of the songs off their first album (For Emma, Forever Ago). Later in the band's career, they also had Taylor Swift sing with Justin on their song Exile.
