As someone that isn't sporty. This anime was the hypest shit ever. Plus the camera work and build in these animations and openings are godly Favourite character is Kageyama (the black haired main guy)
Haikyuu is a great sports anime its a very realistic journey of playing volleyball and the right amount of slice of life, comedy, sportsmanship and such. Every match is good and every team is highlighted and got their own spotlight and also you'll reach to the point that you will also wanted to cheer the opposing team.
If you like character development with very realistic portrayal of different athletes and teenagers, Haikyuu is for you. If you like being on the edge of your seat hyped cheering for a team of a sport you didn't even know much about at the start, Haikyuu is for you. If you like more chill, slice of life elements mixed with a bit of drama, psychology and finding yourself rooting for characters that are opponents because of how human everyone is, Haikyuu is for you. It's honestly an amazing show that most people dont even want to give a fair chance to because they think a sport anime is about as engaging as watching sports on TV and they might not be sports fan but it's a great story with compelling themes and likeable characters all wrapped up with the absolute thrills of learning about a new sport and becoming invested in matches!
I mean this in the most meaningful way possible: if it has hooked you, watch the show. I guarantee you that not only you won't be disappointed, but you'll feel a tiny bit of dread knowing that you almost missed out on going through the experience of watching and loving this show. plus, it's **always** good for RU-vid algorithm. it's a win win. this is a show that cares about and respects its fans and audience and you feel it every damn minute you watch it. what else could be better?
Haikyuu!! is one of those shows that you just can't help but get hyped and emotional for. You don't need any passing knowledge about sports or anything. Every character's unbridled enthusiasm is infectious and you can't help but feel a little sad no matter who wins or loses. Cause this isn't your standard Shonen anime with mustache twirling villains. These are all just really motivated people who desperately want to win and have put in all the work to make their passions into reality. So whenever a game is over you can't help but feel for the defeated. They've put in the work to win too. You should totally react to the endings to Haikyuu!! as well BTW. They're really good too.
I JUST started rewatching haikyuu and you drop this!! Incredible. The show might be about sports, but it's built on really deep characters and interactions of the teams, I love it despite not being a fan of sports
Haikyu is one of THE greatest, hype as hell, emotional "all the feels" rollercoaster, story building animes out there. It's a sports anime but also has a lot of chill moments, which makes it a slice of life at the same time. But it's definitely my comfort anime that I rewatch a few times a year. You would enjoy watching this for sure (plus there's quite a few AOT voices in there)!
I'm freaking old, but this is one of the most inspiring anime I've ever watched... I've rewatched it several times. Even though I'm mostly into darker anime, this is like my comfort anime... Favorite character/moment has to be Tsukishima Kei
As you said, it's a passionate and mood-lifting anime. I've watched it over and over again, but even though I know the results of all the games, I'm nervous every time and support every team with all my strength. Please take a look and get hooked!
Haikyuu is such an awesome anime. It’s actually super realistic to the sport. You don’t even have to be a volleyball fan or even a sports fan to enjoy it. Super tense, emotional and enjoyable. You get all sorts of great feelings watching this show
The names of the teams are mostly referenced to animals, Karasuno is the name of the "main" team, if you will, and Karasu is crow in japanese. Also, the 5th opening Hikari Are is mostly in the dark because the name of the song means Let there be light :) This is such a great anime, I obviously want Karasuno to win but I don't want the opposing teams to lose so it's really complicated and I love it 😊
Greatest sports anime of all time alongside "Slum Dank". The writing, the characters, the music, the animation. Incredible series from start to finish. The emotions as you watch this series are insane. The endings are really good too. You could check them out as well!
No disrespect to slam dunk cause i love it but the fact that it ended or the lack of ending makes it "not the greatest of all time sports anime" You cant really rate something like this without an ending.
@@Thesinistereyes1 I mean....for anime onlys haikyuu hasnt ended either...but I get what you are saying. Still I think that for some anime that are legendary, the lack of ending isnt enough to say they arent the greatest. Rurouni kenshin or Bleach never had the ending adapted (until now, both are getting final arc/reboot) but still are consider great anime
Ah that first op really hits me everytime, it's like feeling nostalgic to a past I have never experienced 🤣Really hope you can make a reactions to Haikyuu too. All the things you guessed about the anime at the end of the video were spot on. This anime will not dissappoint you.
As someone else already said, if you want to see some more sport's anime openings, I'd go with Kuroko no Basket, which is about basketball (obviously). Some really strong openings as well
Also Kuroko no Basket is the best if he wants to start with a sports-anime reaction in the future in my opinion. Well paced, good animation, awesome games, good at building up hype and just the best allrounder. Haikyuu for example often drags on for too long and can get boring from time to time. For someone new getting into anime or the sports genre it's definitly more enjoyable. Sports openings are mid tho :D
Yo Gaz, since you were a fan of the first song of this anime, you should give the openings for Gintama a shot! 1-21, and 2 of them, 13 and 21 are by the same band, Spyair, who did opening 1 and 3 in this video. The other songs are pure bangers as well, and definitely up your alley!
haikyuu is one of the most inspiring anime. i watch and read the manga, definitely amazing!! people undersitimate haikyuu bcs thats a sport anime but when they watch it, they regret everything what they said before
This show has the nickname "Hype-kyuu!!", and it's definitely fitting. I've never been more hyped watched a show, and I don't even like sports. I broke a chair watching this show because of how excited one of the episodes got me.
the team mascot of the protagonists is a black crow thats why crows appear on the openings it also reflects their playstyle, they all band together to attack as a murder of crows funnily enough the team mascot of their rival school is a cat so when both teams play against each other they call it the dumpster fight because in japan cats and crows usually fight each other over the food in trash cans
Yooo, Gaz. Love it! One of my favorite anime ever and my personal favorite sports anime. I love it so much. I picked this one up on a whim years back when it first premiered and stuck with it because of how real it is. I love anime because of how over the top it is in some cases but the reality of this one, mixed with the faithfulness to the sport kept me coming back for me. The art style for this one also kept evolving season after season and as a fan of the show this was just great to see each season. I said it in the stream but this show gave me my favorite JP band in Burnout Syndromes. Love these songs! Regarding the two it keeps showing, they're teammates who become rivals and drive each other as the show goes on. I won't spoil anything by going into the details but the story evolves very well and it keeps you coming back for more. The thing that also made me love this show so much was it doesn't do what a lot of anime do, just focusing on one or two characters' development. The show is very good at developing the whole cast as they grow and overcome their own personal challenges. I keep editing my comment as I wanna be as informative as possible lol. The significance of the crow is that it's their school's mascot. The OP that showed them on the mountain of snow and the mountain unfurls into a bird is the school they play that season and the guy holding the ball is considered one of the best, if not the best player in the country and it's focused on their game for an extended period of time. I absolutely love the editing they do for the OPs to show the power in everything
I really don't look like much of an athlete, but I can really relate to all the emotions that you'll see in this series of Haikyuu. As for favorites for me it's a tie between the short guys and Fly high is my absolute hype song when I get a lose from playing co-ed softball.
Haikyuu is great. Especially for those of us who've been in the school sports environment and experienced the wins and losses. And for those who didn't, it hits all the same!
There's a long tradition of sports manga and anime ranging all the way back to the 50s, from combat and non-combat sports shounen, or boys', series that in some ways parallel the story telling techniques of more fantastical action shows, to a boom of shoujo, or girls', series, including about volleyball, in the 60s, with the first published in '81 Captain Tsubasa and '93's Slam Dunk among the first in finding wider success abroad.
So, what's the meaning of the birds... Little background: all the protagonists go to a High-School named Karasuno, and they play for the school's team, the Karasu in Karasuno means crow/raven. The eagle: that's the Shiratorizawa school, the best team in the prefecture, as for Karasuno, their name contains a bird, in this case Shiratori, that means swan, however given that Shiratori it written with the same exact characters of Shiroi Tori, that means White Bird, and that it's the strongest team, they decided to represent it with a white eagle. Bonus Fact: there's another school that has an animal in their name, and that's Karasuno's friends and rivals from another prefecture, Nekoma. In this case the animal is Neko, the cat. Being that they have a friendly rivalry with Karasuno, each of their matches is nicknamed "the Battle of the Dumpsters", as both cats and crows are fond of spending time near dumpsters, where they can find food.
my absolute favourite thing about this show (that I'm sure you'd love about it too) is that EVERY team you come across you feel yourself rooting for. every single time. there's no villains. there's friendly rivalry, but everytime someone loses (even if it's the 'opponents' for a certain match that you'd think you'd want to fail) you just feel bad for them. this show does an absolutely incredible job at dragging the emotion out of you. my brother joined his uni volleyball club with no experience after this show lol
The best thing about Haikyuu, it is the most realistic anime I've been watching.. The storyline, character, tournament, all of them were just amazing! Please react to this anime...
Haikyuu! is an awesome anime, and I love the band Spyair, Imagination is on all of my playlists, it gives so much energy and hype. If you enjoy sports anime, there is a cycling anime too called Yowamushi Pedal, I always enjoyed thier openings.
I love this anime/manga to almost absurd levels. The greatest anime i have ever watched. words can never do it justice. I have laughed, cried, yelled with both frustration and excitement over this show! Absolutely Bloody Brilliant!
Coming back to say, please react to this show. Incredible writing, fully fleshed out characters, and amazingly wholesome with matches that keep you on the edge of your seat even if you know nothing about volleyball. #flyhigh
feel good show with lots of heart stopping moments. Most wholesome show that will make your heart ache for the good things in life - bravery in the face of disadvantage, hunger for success, and the treasure that is true friendship. hope you'll watch this, it's so good!
The MC is a very short character who can jump really high. When he jumps he feels like a bird flying. It been a while since i watched so i dint know why crow specifically. Maybe cus he is the underdog in this sport?
i really really love your reactions and your commentary, you approach these videos from ways for fans of the show to really resonate with. thank you for the uploads
Ohhh Haikyuu! Love it so much! My favourite put of the openings is the 5th one, Hikari Are (means something along the lines of "there'll be light"). As for characters I think it's very difficult to choose just one, but I really like Ushijima (the purple team's captain).
I strongly recommend the openings and endings of Rurouni Kenshin, they are simply sensational and an auditory delight, a jewel that many would like to know thanks to your channel, and as an extra, the Inazuma Eleven saga (ops, Go, Go Chrono Stone, Galaxy) and the endings of Bleach and Naruto Shippuden are noteworthy, I guarantee you will not regret it.
I adore this anime and I loved your reaction! They really make you feel everything the characters are feeling, and matches are so exciting. My favorite character is Daichi, who is the team captain and an absolute rock for the other players (he has shirt number 1) 🖤(Black heart for Karasuno Crows)
Solid sports anime. All the over the top effects are just for show. Symbolic of the moment they are used and evoke the feelings of the scenes in a way that only animation can provide.
ohh im so hoping that you watch the show, even if youre a kind of person who know nothing on sports just like me ,you will get addicted to this show. Its also a kind of show where you will love both opposing teams no matter who they are and not just the show main team. so please i hope in the future you check it out
Man I really hope that they’re gonna make two movies for Haikyuu, not just one. Otherwise the whole story-end just won’t fit and it will be super sad cause Haikyuu is the only completed sports manga with really lit ending
If you plan on doing more sports anime opening reactions, a lot of them focus on highschool teams playing through regional tournaments to then play in national tournaments
My pick for favorite OP is a toss-up. "Fly High" has the best combo of song and visuals, but "Hikari Are" is my favorite song. And "Imagination" gets an honorable mention as the nostalgic first song that perfectly sets the tone for the show.
This anime is considered one of the most realistic sports anime, if not the most. The crow is the symbol of the college of the main characters, the college is Karasuno, and crow is Karasu, thats why the crow is the symbol that appears all the time.
Won't say react to it straight away other anime you should probably do after aot first but this is definitely peak sports anime. Only hajime no ippo and slam dunk are on the same level in my opinion
