Magic has indeed struck again because Marc is back to continue through the Potter-verse with CHAMBER OF SECRETS. I even convinced him to sport some new Hogwarts Express platform threads! This will be his first time watching, and I'm excited to see his reaction to the secrets revealed.

@@DavidvsFilm Reading the Harry Potter books will give you a deeper appreciation of Ron's character. He was my FAVORITE book character.. I was the same age as the intended audience for the movies, so I eagerly attended every midnight release for each new book. However, I found the films disappointing because they left out important details from the books. In particular, the 3rd movie missed crucial plot points, while the 5th movie had some confusing moments for non-book readers. Additionally, the 5th film missed an important part of Hermione's character development. There were also some unnecessary scenes that could have been cut to make room for more explanation of events. Ron is actually a skilled wizard who knows more about the wizarding world than Hermione and Harry. Unfortunately, the movies didn't portray him accurately, and even changed the roles of characters in some scenes. For example, in the first movie, it was actually Ron who remained calm during the Devil's Snare scene, while Hermione panicked. Overall, while the movies were enjoyable, they didn't offer the same level of depth and satisfaction as the books. I do however enjoy watching them now, 20 years later, since I haven't read them in 20 ish years; I forget a lot of the details that were left out; but I'm going through my 20 year old set of books 1-7; I'm remembering why Ron was my favorite; I also, have this weird love for Draco; mostly because I love a good evil character. I'm a proud Slytherin; remember not all slytherin are bad dark wizards. Loving your commentary, and enjoying watching the first timer's watch though, and seeing them fall in love with it, just like ANYONE else I've seen for the first time. I used to resist the trend of watching movies but got hooked when I stumbled upon one while feeling unwell. I borrowed the first book and loved it so much that I begged my parents to buy me the next four books. I even camped out for the midnight release of the fifth book, and the following books. Then did the same for the movies with my friends. once I could drive. I dressed up everytime as a slitheryn. I found the perfect emrald green and silver stripped tie on clearance, when I worked at Kohls.. I already had a pleated school type skirt, a long black hooded sweater, and basically just topped it off with a white button down, and knee high leather boots. It worked for a cheap but easy cosplay for the events lol whew sorry for the long winded rant. I normally don't comment too much, but it's been a long ass week of work, and IT's finally my Friday! I may have had a drink after I got off work tonight lol

Some fun facts about this movie: 1) It has a lot of improvised moments. For example, in the end Gryffindors, Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs do a standing applause, but discontent Slytherins do not, except for one, whom Draco pulls down. The actor simply forgot that he was not supposed to join the action. 2) When the image of Lucius Malfoy was designed, at first he was to have short black-and-white hair and wear a pinstriped suit, but the actor suggested long blond hair and dandyish robes, and it worked. Also, he held his chin up to make the hair stay perfectly straight, this is why he looks all haughty all the time. 3) Pay attention to Mrs. Weasley's outfit in her first scene ("Where have you been?!"). It is made of multi-colored yarn. As the Weasleys often cannot afford buying new things, she knits sweaters for her kids by herself, and it is implied that this dress is made out of remaining yarn. 4) When Harry and Ron catch Lockhart trying to flee from Hogwarts, he tosses a WIG into his trunk. Another wig is seen on the table during the conversation. Liar, liar, hair on fire!

The great thing about Harry Potter was the way it's target audience aged with the main characters. I never saw this one at the cinema, but I rented it on VHS and took it round to my parents house to watch with my mother (over a bottle of strawberry flavoured sparkling wine.) I still wasn't exactly a fan of Harry Potter's character or actor, but the adult supporting cast were always superb. I've always been a fan of Maggie Smith who plays Professor McGonagall. Oh! Interesting (to me) unrelated anecdote: Years later of course, Maggie Smith played the Dowager Countess Grantham in Downton Abbey. I loved that character, and was enchanted by the title "Dowager Countess". Years after that, I actually spoke on the phone to a real Dowager Countess. I had moved to the UK by then and I worked at the time in a bank's call centre dealing with their prestige customers. The title was from somewhere in Scotland, and I recognised it from one of Shakespeare's plays. After listening to her request, I replied that of course I would help her and asked very respectfully how she wished to be addressed. She replied "Just call me Jane." An absolutely lovely person.

Aww I love that story!! And I really like when high society folks like that are still down-to-earth and humble. "Just call me Jane." Very cool :) I am the same way with the cast, actually. For me, I enjoy them all as a group, but I agree that Maggie Smith is definitely a standout.

The reason the sword of Gryffindor came out of the Sorting Hat is because the hat also belonged to Gryffindor. The founders enchanted it to sort students after they were gone.

watched both of your hp reactions, officially subscribing ! ur both soo funny, "Get in loser, were going to Hogwarts" I died at that... hope you continue the next one is by far my favorite!! Also on a comment below saying your spoiling too much I think your going a pretty good job at giving clues but not going into full detail, I know for first time watchers stuff can be hard to catch and a little confusing, no matter how many times I explain it to my mom she won't ever get the details, def be careful on the next few though as they have more plot twists and potential spoilers

When I read the book I was especially taken by it, some characters in particular I'm sure you can imagine who went on to become beloved favorites. From here on out I am going to be so sparse with details that Marc will think I have amnesia.

The first movie was a lot of fun, and a good introduction to the wizarding world. As with any new ensemble, it takes a while for the people involved to get used to their roles and working with each other. Fortunately, the casting directors did an excellent job, and the chemistry between Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson was perfect. You can tell they are more comfortable with their roles in this film. I have to say here that I think that Richard Harris was the perfect Dumbledore. It was a great change from singer (MacArthur Park is the song for which he's best known) and anything else in his film career (Arthur in the film version of 'Camelot' [1967]). He was concerned about getting typecast for his role as Dumbledore, but took the role when his 11-year-old granddaughter threatened never to speak to him again if he didn't accept. As you pointed out, he sadly died before he could do the rest of the films. While Michael Gambon is an excellent actor (The King's Speech, for instance), he didn't have the calm that Richard Harris exuded. However, I blame that on the directors who took over the reins after Chris Columbus.

Great reaction. But you may be giving away a little too much. I would recommend letting him just learn as it goes and answer any questions after the film. Maybe write down questions he has or your own questions and then have a discussion over them after... yet your commentary is still great! Love this reaction.

(He cracks up at curse words) The only time I let him know he cant watch a reaction is if it's got too scary imagery, or if the 'adult talk' becomes too violent or sexual.

You know what, thank you for mentioning this! I wasn't even aware this was the only film in the Potter series with an after-credits scene, and I have never even seen it myself until last year. I forgot about it when we were watching for the channel (HBO Max rolled to the next movie and cut off the credits), but we watched it today ;)

Just subscribed :) Harry Potter is my absolute favourite series to watch and read it’s so close to my heart ❤️ I was the same age and grew up with the cast when these movies came out and that was such a unique experience I think it made me feel so much closer to the characters and their world since we faced growing up and the challenges that come with that. It’s such a great thing to be able to get so lost and immersed in that world and going on all of those adventures with the trio; Can’t wait to watch the rest of the movies with you guys and I’m looking forward to seeing more of your content! :D

I would love to loop in Addams Family maybe as part of Halloween this year, if not before. I LOVE those movies, and it's been years since I've seen them (Anjelica Huston- I mean!). The animated one I watched for my nephew because he loves them and wanted a reaction :) Lastly, Percy Jackson was a revelation to me- didn't know anything about it when I saw the first one, and it was awesome! Sure, it's cool and I love it, BUT why endanger yourself by taking a name that's an anagram giving away your secret? "Nice to meet you, Mia Veil. WAIT! That's an anagram of I AM EVIL. You must be the one behind the mysterious disappearances!" Etc., etc. Loved the doggy cameo, btw.

In the next book Hermione discovers there are house elves working in the castle so she spends the entire book trying to free them by leaving socks all around the castle. It was truly a fun aspect that I am sadden it wasn’t in the movies.

Just like your reaction to the first movie - I really enjoyed spending this with the two of you and hearing your reactions. These movies are certainly classics. My daughter is the HP expert in our house and thankfully never tires of my questions whenever the movies marathon on TV (which they do A LOT). I had Star Wars as a kid - she has HP books and the movies. I still remember the midnight release parties at Barnes and Noble. Good times. Great reaction, looking forward to the next one!

This one was actually in 3D when it came out in theaters. I saw it with my cousins when I was about 10. The part where the snake gets thrown in the air made one of my cousins scream because she's afraid of them lol.

Awesome video reaction to Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets! I hope he becomes a Potter head and take deep dices into the fandom 😊 I was wondering if you have watched the 20th Anniversary special on HBOMax? So wonderful and moving. Love if after all of these movies you guys was the 20th Anniversary special. I don't know david if you've seen it but I think that would be a cool thing to react to because as far as I can tell it hasn't been widely reacted to. Also if you want to I hope you check out A Very Potter Musical by Team StarKid and it's two sequels as they are amazing tributes and I think you would both have a blast with them. (remember to put on subs is you watch them as they were made awhile ago and mics were not good) Can't wait for the next movie, my favourite.

This is the ONE HP movie I saw in theaters. I am a severe arachnophobe. I had NO idea what I was walking into 😅😅😅. I have to give credit to these movies being absolutely amazing despite my loathing of the author.

@@DavidvsFilm the way I see it is the author created this vast and beautiful universe and, like most massively beloved franchises, it has grown beyond just the author’s reach. It will always be her creation, but now we all have our own communities based in the fandom, our memories from growing up with this franchise, etc that she has absolutely no control over. The franchise is truly magical and the moment we let the authors bigotry outshine what she just so happened to create is the moment we lose to it
