I thought the same! Fern, your voice is gorgeous! You clearly know a lot about music. I learned so much from you just watching this reaction. Thank you!
It’s so crazy now seeing her get so big. Saw her last halloween and tickets were like 30-40 bucks, right next to the stage basically, was such a fun crowd. Now seeing her literally have FESTIVAL size crowds less than a year later is fucking crazy. She deserves it so much. I said leaving that show “she deserves a bigger stage, that was too small for her” and i was fucking righttttt. I’m so happy for her
@@user-bs8cr9pj8oi heard the austin show was amazing! One of my friends was in the opening act so it was surreal seeing both a friend on stage and chappell at the same time. it was iconic
She did this for the lesbians!!! We love to see women unabashedly loving and desiring other women ♡♡♡ wishing you the best, Fern! Love u hope everything is going great for you queen ♡
@@ChaennieBP_123this album is specifically about her realizing her sexuality as a lesbian and embracing that. Of course anyone can enjoy the album, the album just isn't about bisexuality it's about her personal experiences with realizing she's a lesbian
In Red Wine Supernova there's also a nod to a Rhianna song. I saw another "Midwest Princess" reactor point it out -- I would never have known, IDK her music. I'll leave it for Rhianna fans or Fern to see if they spot it.
OK so I ADORED this reaction and just have to say 1) you have an amazing voice like whatttt 🤩 2) I saw her live in Chicago as olivia’s opener, and mind was blown that the vocals were even better live… she’s insane. A true performer and just so captivating on stage
This album is an emotional and stylistic rollercoaster, and that ride is foreshadowed within Feminomenon itself. I also love how trashy, geeky and funny it is too.
Been watching a lot of Chappell reactions since I discovered the album a few months back and this video is one of my faves. Love your vibe and the way you express your thoughts on the music. Wish I could sing along like you do! I definitely recommend checking out the videos for Red Wine Supernova and My Kink is Karma as well, as they’re some of my favorites.
I love watching people listen to this album for the first time because she's so effective at the underlying goal of the album - addictive, feel-good energy that immediately makes you want to sing and dance 🕺 Of course she has a lot of great messaging, but it's impressively cohesive and exploratory at the same time. Such quality queer representation without effort! Really liked your commentary from a vocalist perspective as well :)
54:03 “Oh fuck..” this *sent* me 😹 I had a similar reaction the first time I heard this one. Her voice is so gorgeous. And don’t worry - it took me a few listens before I caught on to what the song was actually about too 💖 1:18:17 Pink Pony Club released in April 2020. Of *course* it didn’t pop off, we were all isolating and staying home and collectively holding our breaths as the world literally fell apart. She was signed at 17, and she was 22 in 2020, still a baby really. I’m kind of glad she went through that “fall” because 1. It gave us this gorgeous song but 2. Based on how her relaunch has gone, she clearly needed the time to become the woman that made this album what it is, and one that can handle this stratospheric rise she’s having. She said she was going to give music one more try before giving it up and going to school, and I’m so glad she did. Thanks for this lovely reaction. You’re delightful 💖
My first video of yours and your singing is gorgeous! I love Chappell so much. I cry every time I listen to coffee and casual. Her midwest princess album is so powerful and she’s here to stay for sure. ❤
I definitely also got the masculine read of Casual. Especially after Feminanomenon, the whole thing of bragging about getting her off when they didn't feels male-coded along with the way she said "dude" and "hit it," even though none of these words/concepts have to be associated with men or masculinity.
I also think the idea of a man's mom inviting her to Long Beach as a sign it's not casual hits harder, because if it's a woman, it would be more likely that the mom is just thinking they're friends and not questioning the relationship (heteronormativity).
I’ve watched soo many of these reactions and I love when people get emotional. Every time I listen to the full album, a different song makes me sob. Just something about her.
It's been awhile since I've tuned into your channel, and I know that you've been through so much, but I just wanted to say that you look amazing and it's so lovely to see you up and dancing. Idk, your aura seems so much brighter and peaceful ♥ I really hope you're doing well, and of course - great reaction! (and backing vocals) :)
What a fun reaction! Thank you! I love Chappell so much. So much talent and energy. Did you see her interview on Elton John's podcast? She is so cute and he is telling her she is going to explode in popularity...which she is. Can't wait to watch more of your reactions 😊
i'm still not done with the video yet, but you're a delight!! i love your reactions to the songs, the dancing, and your general vibe. and your voice is great! you're so good at picking out interesting harmonies when you're singing along ♥
the little cat rant break mid video is so real, this is my first time watching one of your videos but I have a feeling ill be sticking around 😂 also cloud is adorable
Wow I've never come across your channel before but had to subscribe ! Everything from your makeup to your energy to your thoughtful commentary was so so good and interesting to watch !!
Honestly glad to hear that you're keeping your cat indoors after that situation... I can't even tell you how many cat owners I've seen online who go through something REALLY stressful and horrible like their cat going missing and they DON'T learn their lesson and they keep letting the cat out after its come back... putting it at risk for getting hit by a car or destroying the ecosystem with hunting. It might be really really difficult but you're doing something really good and important by keeping him inside and safe! Good on ya! 🥰
Now you have to watch the Tiny Desk Concert. It might even be RU-vidable with editing (I've seen a major reaction channel with a reaction to it that hasn't been taken down). The Tiny Desk really gives insight into the Chappel persona (who's a little different from the singer-songwriter behind her, even if they share a body and a similar backstory).
15:19 the way I’ve replayed this last 10 seconds of your reaction to Red Wine Supernova on repeat just to hear you harmonize…guuuurrrrrrrllllllll!!!!! 🔥 🔥 🔥
@@FernStone I don’t just like your sing along moments, I love your voice, period, full stop. Whether you are talking or singing, it’s something I want to hear more. Your vocals are beautifully resinous, and even novice me can tell you have both power and control. Have you ever recorded your singing? If so, I need to hear it. If not, PLEASE DO!!!!
Loved this album so much! Femininomenon, Casual, Red Wine Supernova, Pink Pony Club and Guilty Pleasure are my favorites. I would like to see you reacting to her Tiny Desk Concert, is so good and her voice in live is incredible
Loved the reaction! Btw there are several more videos for songs that for some reason aren't on her music videos playlist? But you'll def want to check them out!
Your makeup skills are EXCEPTIONAL omg. And if you want a bob, do it!!!!! I grow my hair out and cut it off all the time. It’s so fun and freeing! I LOVE this reaction, you’ve got such a great voice and perceptive insights!
new to your channel, just been binge watching chappell roan reactions idk if you're pan, but your eye makeup is so pan themed i love it!🩷💛🩵 3:43 jk! i should've just kept watching🤣 big love from a fellow pan!
I've listened to Midwest Princess 70+ times and didn't catch it, and watched at least 15 reactors who didn't either. And, first listen, Fern does. Very cool. (And yet she missed what Picture You is about! Adorable.)
The way you describe your cat and your feelings toward him is the exact same for me and my cat. I never thought anyone had the same experience as me because cats are so different but everything you said is literally the exact same for me. I also hate repetitive sounds and he just constantly meows when I’ve given him everything! I don’t even know why he does that, I think he just wants constant attention even though I pet him and spend time with him as much as possible. He’s just extremely clingy I suppose. It also feels kinda crazy because you mentioned seven years with him and my cat just turned 7. (Unrelated but I was so excited when I saw your makeup as a fellow pan person! I love it so much and it looks great. This was also one of the best reactions I’ve seen so far, definitely gonna watch more from your channel!) Edit: oh my, I didn’t realize this would be such a long comment of me ranting about my needy cat lol
Awww no honestly it isn’t a long ranty comment ! I’m glad you relate, it’s hard sometimes for people to understand the frustration even though we love them sooo deeply !!! Xxx and I’m so glad you enjoyed the reaction ❤️
After Midnight reminds me of Carly Rae Jepsen and My Kink is Karma reminds me of Taylor Swift, and she has so many stylistic references, but everything on the album also feels uniquely Chappell Roan, I think it's her lyrics and persona. She's one of my new faves, I'm excited to see what she does in her career from here. I feel like this album is gonna have staying power, like the songs are still gonna be great in 10 and 20 years.
You're being very conservative. This is a new classic. And even from among the greatest albums of original songs of any era, I have trouble thinking of albums that have absolutely zero weak songs on them. But "Midwest Princess" doesn't. Be it banger bop or ballad, ALL FOURTEEN songs hit, which is next to miraculous. I think it'll be listened to and appreciated for as long as people listen to recorded music.
Love your makeup look and energy😌The pansexual flag eye makeup EATS. Also, want to get a standing desk one day as well for the back pain! Great reaction❤
I'm a married lesbian.....I call my wife dude, and she's not particularly "butchy" we are both tomboys but it's just part of our vernacular. And yeah, some women can be just as crass as men when it comes to bagging women.
I agree completely. I call women dude all the time. I just felt the song was about a guy for some reason… if it’s a real song about her life. She hadn’t been with a woman yet while writing this album apparently. Who knows ?!
@@FernStone absolutely!! I feel like there are multiple meanings for a lot of these songs and ultimately it's about how YOU relate to the music and take from it. I think Chappell wrote about both sexes fairly equally. In the end this is a fun very relatable LGBT album and I'm so ready for what Ms. Roan comes up with next.
@@FernStone btw, I did say lesbian however I do personally feel I am more PAN if I say so myself. I was once married to a man and have a biological son. So it was nice to see an open pan influencer. THANK YOU!
