They are a religious band. Christian band to be more accurate. But they are not a Christian band where they are trying to convert, if that makes sense. Actually a lot of "Emo" bands are also Christian af!
@@sevyreyna3623 I'm aware, I've been a fan of the band since it came out. I mentioned it because I used to be Christian, and a lot of music about god/faith doesn't really gel with me anymore. I don't care about religion so stuff that's pro or anti faith doesn't usually interest me. It ends up feeling awkward or cliche,. But this song hits on such a genuine, emotional level that I love it because it's about faith, rather than loving it in spite of it being about faith. Lacey is one of the only people I enjoy listening to sing about faith. Something about the way she expresses it makes it a more positive experience. Like I said, there's an authenticity and a lack of ego, in a way that very few people ever reach.
Yes, this song is about meating God. Lacey was feeling suicidal as a teen and ended up in a church speaking with a man there. She felt like God was talking to her, she goes into a bit more detail in her book.
@@dustychapman9350 It's like Jody Scott and Saliva. He left to pursue a christian lifestyle and we want him back so bad it hurts. Same with Austin Carlyle from Of Mice & Men.
I like the part where she sings, "my tongue dances behind my lips for you." She's referring to speaking in tongues. When I saw this band live in about 2008 with other Christian musical acts, by the time they came on stage I got closer to the stage and while I was in the crowd, I could feel the Holy Spirit around me and the love. I didn't want it to end.
I've always thought it was paint coming down the wall. Lots of different colored paint. Lacey Sturm is a phenomenal artist. Her vocals and writing talent are tip top. Glad you enjoyed it.
Thank You for the reaction! I love FlyLeaf. They were Christian but had a lot of none Christian and atheist fans! Could you checkout more? I'm so sick- Flyleaf
Great Song. Lacey Sturm has a Great Voice. Flyleaf’s 1st Two Albums are Absolutely Amazing. Wait til you Hear Lacey sing the Song “I’m So Sick”. When that Video was on MTV it Blew Minds all over the World. You will Absolutely Love It
You got it right away. There are some different opinions on what the blood coming down the walls is for. Some people say that it is a sign sacrifice on the cross. Many others believe that this song is about when she tried to take her own life and encountered God for the first time, and the blood is symbolic of her, as she was dying. It is interesting that the chorus is completely made from parts of different Bible verses. “I can feel you all around” psalm 139:5 “Thickening the air I’m breathing“ 1 Kings 8:10-12 “Holding on to what I am feeling” Psalm 91:14-16 “Savoring this heart that’s healing” Psalm 147:3 Not all of their songs are about Christian, and some of them are about some of the band member’s struggles. I was a fan from the moment I heard. Great reaction!!
idk why your video got supressed so hard... it's pretty disappointing because I imagine a lot of people would like to see this reaction if it would get shown to them. Either way I think their most popular song is probably 'I'm so sick' I would love to see your reaction to that. It's a significantly different vibe to this song that might make you be able to draw that connection to the slipknot fans a little more lol. Also there's no blood in that one, so maybe it won't be crushed by the system so hard?
I believe flyleaf is a Christian band, but focus on religious allegory so the themes are there if you search for them, but are also up for a more secular interpretation.
Please do a reaction to Eddie Murphy I was a king, trust me Eddie Murphy can sing when he wants too. I think you'll like that song if you're into music like that.
She had an encounter with God the night she was gonna commit suicide. She was an atheist that hated God and anything christian related. She’s still a follower of Christ.
Here are a couple suggestions for some songs…. Fully Alive By: Flyleaf So sick By: Flyleaf Time And Time Again By: Papa Roach Blood (Empty Promises) By: Papa Roach A Grave Mistake By: Ice Nine Kills
Even the Kristen May album was really good, even though Lacey left the band on good terms. A lot of fans were very bias against May at the time because they felt Lacey was forced out. Magnetic, Set Me on Fire and Again are all really good songs from the Kristen May album.
*It wasn't [supposed to be] blood. If you notice, there's all colors of paint running down the walls. The red is pink... No blood- just paint. Good guess on the message!*
Flyleaf is so damn good. You should 100% look into more of their music. The lead singer, Lacy Sturm, now does solo stuff. I really like their song Sorrow.
I would love for you to react to Cassie(spelling?) by them. It’s an incredibly beautiful song by them. Tragic AF, but so so beautiful. Loved the reaction! I saw them live years ago and they are even more amazing live. She’s tiny but powerful!
I've always described the meaning of this song as being horny for god... But it's written in a way that you can easily interpret it about a person you have crush on or something
I think she wrote this song after a failed suicide attempt if I recall and felt God's presence all around her or something like that I could be very wrong but I think that was the inspiration to this song
I saw them live in 2009 in Seattle, I was 10 feet away from her, and there was 4 other people there. Then saw them 5hrs later at the full show. She's literally 4ft11. she's the sweetest. Got some pictures with her.
