I don't know what kind of movies you like, but "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" is a great western and one of my favorite films from my youth. I might go watch it again after this! As far as the orchestra, modern orchestras are trying hard to attract younger audiences by incorporating music out of the expected classical repertoire and including more visual, active elements in their performances. They're being quite successful with it, and that's great for music in general.
@iDEATH

The whole trilogy is so epic. Some of my favourite movies ever. And that it all kind of culminates in Eastwood's "Unforgiven" in '92, that amazing deconstruction of the Western genre he helped to build, is like a chef's kiss.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, is also my all time favorite Western movie. This Orchestra gets the music as close to a perfect match with the original score. The second half of this is an fantastic piece Ecstasy of Gold and the Orchestra is dead on. When I am brought to tears by an orchestra trying to copy 2 iconic pieces of music they have done something worth watching again and again.

@@yankee_tango My favorite, likely because it was the first spaghetti western I saw in my youth, is "For a Few Dollars More." The "hanging man" was simply a prop which makes sense if you're familiar with the movie. The woodwind instrument playing with the piano is an Oboe, which is a double-reed instrument and very hard to master, and the gentlemen playing it in this orchestra was masterful. The late Mr. Ennio Morricone (the composer of this song) was a musical genius, God rest his soul.

Morricone introduces in the film music that the characters have their own melody and he often uses natural sounds in his music. He also often writes the music after the end of the shoot in order to compose it precisely for the scenes. This makes the music part of the story. This is the theme song to the third part of the Dollar Trilogy: "A Fistful of Dollars", "For a Few Dollars More", "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly". Sergio Leone (director), Ennio Morricone (music) and Clint Eastwood (actor) turned the western on its head with the films. Before the movies, Westerns were about the settlement of the American West. Leone turns it into "mafia films" and catapults the western into a scenario that could also play in the present. The struggle of different people and groups is the focus here. Leone not only creates the subspecies of the spaghetti western, he changes the staging of westerns in general. The trilogy made the three Hollywood stars, Oscar winners and they are considered the best westerns ever. Ironically, Eastwood didn't get his 4 Oscars as an actor, but as a director and producer. Leone was never nominated and never received an honorary Oscar, but he was repeatedly cited as a role model by younger directors.

@@onetruthmediacompany I guess you're joking. As is well known, it's "Metallica" that uses "Ecstasy of Gold" by the great Ennio Morricone as the opening song. The first instrument to come in after the piano was an [Edit: English horn (first thought oboe as they sound very similar)]. The piano is great for rain, snow, and deep emotion (insert "plin plin plon" meme). The oboe and English horn have a more dry quality, fitting the western movie theme and providing the perfect contrast to the piano's rain, but also has a piercing emotional quality. Pure genius.

The first part, was the theme music of the western of the same name. The latter part is called "Extacy of Gold", and is from the ending part of the movie. It is from a scene in the movie, that is one of the most epic scenes, in movie history. The guy hanging, symbolizes something, that happens early in the movie. The silhouette in the background, is of Clint Eastwood, who was the main character, in the movie, and also the lead actor in two other spaghetti westerns, that was celebrated this evening. The waa waa woman had revolver earrings, in case you didn't notice. And several male musicians in the orchestra, was also dressed as cowboys. It's not easy to see in this video, but in other videos from the same night.

Written by the legendary film composer Ennio Morricone (1928-2020) who has written many many film scores but none has had the impact of this, this score is from a trio of movies out of Italy in the 60's commonly known as "Spaghetti Westerns"...A Fistful Of Dollars (1964) For A few Dollars More (1965) and This one, The Good The Bad The Ugly (1966) all directed by legendary Italian film director Sergio Leone (1929-1989) Both of these men have influenced many directors and composers...These movies also launched Clint Eastwood into the stratosphere. Everything by this orchestra is amazing and there's a lot on here to see. The hanging man is just a theme from the movies as hanging wasn't so much justice dispensed as it was pretty much a sport back then. Tuva Semmingsen (Wah Wah) is a Norwegian soprano and she too is also amazing, please listen to "Bang Bang" and look close she's wearing guns for earrings...Christine Nonbo Andersen also amazing, the skill required for all this is beyond belief, one single note out of place and the entire piece is shattered, it's mind boggling to see what a group of dedicated people can do together, one no more or less important than another, astonishing.

Their job is to coordinate everything in the orchestra, it may look like they're just waving their hands and the baton, but all those movements have a meaning and are directed to specific parts of the orchestra. How I felt? The movie ranks high on my personal favorites list and the soundtrack is iconic. It was awesome to see it done so well. All this might explain why the soundtrack has a flavor of an Italian opera. Spaghetti westerns were popular, and saved Clint Eastwood's career back then. As far as the "Hanging Body" prop, the orchestra was playing music from Clint Eastwood's films. One of which was "Hang 'Em High!" By the way, the fat little wooden instrument that the musician was blowing into, is called an "ocarina."

The guy who wrote this, Ennio Morricone wrote the musical scores for more than 400 movies and TV shows. He was an absolute musical genius. I thoroughly recommend watching the movie too, it's one of the very best "cowboy" movies (it actually spans quite a few genres)

As Someone Said, The Hanging Man Is An Integral Part Of The Film!

The dummy hanging in the rafters is a part of the movie. Eli Wallach was a theif who would get turned in by Clint Eastwood. As the Sheriff was getting ready to hang him, Eastwood would shoot the rope and rescue him and they would ride off to the next town to collect the reward money and do it all over again.

If you are hooked with this kind of music, but you want to hear something more..."catchy" and modern, you can try Ya ni and his orchestra playing The Storm or Playtime... you'll see this orchestra met the most and incredible performers of every instrument around the world. I'm pretty sure you'll be happy to try my recommendation. Have a good day

Three parter along with "A fist full of dollars " and "A few dollar more". The Orchestra does a lot of movie themes. This was actually the third one.

In the Movie Clint's character and Tuco had a hustle where Blondie would turn in Tuco for the reward as a bounty hunter and then as Tuco was being hanged; Blondie would shoot the rope allowing Tuco to escape over and over again. An arrangement that Tuco was understandably ambivalent about to say the least.

Ennio Morricone, an absolute genius. I recommend you to watch the movie, you'll understand many things. The "ua ua" is the is the howl of the coyote (is a western movie) and the hanged man is an integral part of the story. I won't tell you more because I don't want to ruin your film, one of the greatest world masterpieces ever. You are young, but you will be thrilled by this film, which is about a dispute over money in the midst of the US Civil War.

How do they manage to coordinate? That is why there is a conductor in front of all the musicians.

You should watch the movie this was the title music written for it. Although it was filmed in Spain with an Italian Director, it was based on the unique American story line experience. You'll get to know and appreciate it more if you watch the movie. It's not like anything else in the world history. Enjoy the folklore experience.

This performance was very good, but the original orchestration by it's composer, Ennio Morricone, can not be surpassed. Ennio's works are all amazing.

One of the great cinematic compositions. Masterfully performed. Hanging someone for a little dramatic effect is not too much out of the ordinary, is it? Kudos to the arranger, this is even more dramatic and inspiring than the original. Masterful!

A little late to the party but the orchestra played the songs for all three "Man with no name" movies. In the other performances, you can see the cutout silhouette of the hanged man more clearly.

Ennio Morricone. My life wouldn´t be the same without his music. In my opinion one of the top 3 film-music composers of all time. My favorit piece is Nella fantasia. Means so much to me that I actually would like it played at my funeral.
