Their concerts were Legendary! Each would take turns performing their greatest hits. They put themselves together. They were great friends and the Original Outlaws of the 70’s Outlaw Movement.

They were all friends going back to the 60’s except for Willie and Johnny Cash. They were all part of the outlaw movement in the 70’s led by Waylon Jennings and they recorded duets together several times. Waylon is by far my favorite. I’d recommend his version of “Me and Bobby McGee”.

I love how this song approaches reincarnation. They’re all unreal songwriters… I’m guessing that’s how they got together. Hard to believe Kristofferson was the writer for Me and Bobby McGee and starred in the original Star is Born with Streisand. That one of Willie’s biggest song writing hits was Crazy by Patsy Cline… and of course Waylon and Johnny, well, they changed the face and style of country music.

Waylon Jennings also played bass on Buddy Holly’s final tour. He was to fly on the plane which crashed but gave up his seat to the big bopper (JP Richardson) who had come down with the flu and didn’t really want to go on the cold bus journey to the next stop. When Holly heard that Jennings wasn’t going he told him "Well, I hope your damned bus freezes up." Jennings responded: "Well, I hope your ol' plane crashes". Which it did and scarred Jennings for the rest of his life.
