Welcome back to another Philippines Travel Vlog! In this exciting video, come along with me as I ride the MRT train in the Philippines for the very first time! I had always heard so much about this popular mode of transportation in Manila and was eager to try it out for myself. However, my experience turned out to be even more incredible than I ever could have imagined.
Despite my initial expectations, riding the MRT was an exhilarating and unforgettable experience. From the bustling crowds on the platform to the fast-paced ride through the city, I was amazed by the energy and liveliness of the Philippines.
As I looked out the window of the train, I marveled at the vibrant colors and unique architecture of the city, taking in all of the sights and sounds around me. The experience was truly one-of-a-kind, and I'm so grateful to have had the chance to explore Manila in this way.
If you're planning a trip to the Philippines, be sure to check out this must-see attraction and experience the MRT for yourself. And don't forget to subscribe to my Philippines Travel Vlog for even more exciting adventures!

Same, Luis! I had the same impression when I first rode the MRT when I was in the Philippines. I heard so many bad reviews about it before, so like you, I also had very low expectations and was on high alert on my way there. lol. But as I was entering the station and was riding the train, I never experienced any of the bad comments I heard from others. It was actually a very positive and fun experience. I think most of the negative comments are from people who rode the train many, many years ago. I think a lot of things have changed now and the station in general is actually really doing a good job at maintaining everything clean and organized compared to before. That's just from my own perspective and overall experience. Who knows, maybe it's different for those who really use the MRT every day. But I'm glad that, like me, you had a positive experience on your very first ride. I know people have different opinions, but at the end of the day, it's still very important to really be extra careful wherever you are and wherever you go. Keep doing what you're doing and fun in the Philippines, Luis! 🇵🇭🥂

What a refreshing take on the MRT. Indeed it is still the fastest, and cheapest way to go around the city, reason why it is popular among the working class. Let me warn you though that it can be pretty crowded on weekdays, especially during rush hour - with long lines of waiting just to buy ticket, go inside the station, and finally get a ride.

Great video. I'm a Filipino living in Dallas and I could certainly say that Metro Manila's LRT + MRT lines are way advanced and commuter friendlier than here in Dallas. Also, the Metro line here only serves just a part of the whole DFW area unlike the LRT/MRT systems there. Super thanks for highlighting and trying out my country's metro rails. I enjoyed your blog so much! Cheers!

MRT inside is clean and cool. There are types of trains in the Philippines: LRT, MRT, PNR and Subway. The MRT is a light train, that is why it looks this way because the train carries a total of hundred thousands of people everyday. PNR is a train that caters to few selected provinces, but it looks like a simple train. And still constructing trains going to further North of the country, however there was already a train operating before going to some provinces in the earlier years but the distant past administration closed it down. Subway is going to open in 2025 around Makati and to BGC, then would have stations around Metro and Airport. Try also the EDSA carousel buses, which is the one lane bus.

by December 2027, try to Experience Riding Both PNR-NSCR, and Metro Manila Subway, because this is the Deadline for the Full Completion, the Completion of PNR-NSCR Calamba to tutuban is Expected within 42-48 Months.

I think the MRT Rule of "NO TALKING" is actually good. In New York Subway, you hear all kinds of crop inside the train from loud music with no regard from other passengers. You also hear someone singing loud or cursing & just about everything in this crazy city of New York. Here in San Francisco Ca. our Bay Area Rapid Transit (aka: BART) we have homeless people sleeping inside the train with their dirty shoes propped up on the train sits, which is totally disgusting. Where you at now, the train looks clean & even the station is clean.

Great vlog featuring the MRT3! Smooth vids and transitions. No nonsense. keep it up! EDIT: You have to try the other lines as well. LRT lines 1 & 2. Line 2 is the more spacious and colder AC than the 1&3. The added Antipolo station gives off a countryside vibe. The one you just rode gives off city vibes. The LRT1 is the oldest of the 3 (and in ASEAN if I'm not mistaken - oldest metro rail line) and might be the most chaotic in my opinion.

The train is actually from Czech Republic, if you've seen Tatra trains there, you'll see that they every similar to our train. It is faster now since its operating speed is 60 km/h. I know this because this is the line I used to go to SM North from Ortigas. Also many Asian metros are a lot better than NYC Subway, even Jakarta MRT wins the comparison to New York Subway.

Wow! Getting out of your comfort zone of Makati/BGC to ride the MRT, huh? But to really experience what average Filipinos go through during their long commutes, challenge yourself (and your friend) to go during rush hours and further out (e.g., Claro M. Recto, Quiapo, Divisoria, etc.). The notorious snatchers you mentioned are usually not in Makati, you need to go to the places I listed above. The stations there are much older and who knows, you might encounter Mr. S.N. Atcher. Hahaha! :) Anyways, MRT stations themselves are generally safe because of all the security. You should also try the LRT. I believe the Manila LRT system is the first of its kind in Southeast Asia. Ironically, it's more spacious that the MRT you rode. After a lot of improvement, the LRT (Line 2 trains are made in South Korea) is also a more superior product than those old and rickety blue-and-white trains (they are made in China ... groan) trains that you rode. Stay safe and God bless, Luis!! With love from Taipei, Taiwan!!
