First Time Watching *BARBARIAN* (Reaction) | f*** THAT!

"Is this in Ohio." No, Detroit. I suspect some of this will be lost on people outside of the U.S., but things have been real, REAL (!) bad for Detroit, Michigan, from the 1970s on. For decades, Detroit (and the surrounding area) was home to a number of car manufacturers. These plants (and the businesses connected to them) were so big that they ended up employing a huge percentage of the city's workers, so when those same car companies started to move their manufacturing down to Mexico, pretty much everybody lost their job. Some moved to other parts of the country, but the people that stayed behind were stuck in a situation where their homes lost all of their value, crime spiked in a massive way and there was nowhere to find employment. To this day, there are parts of Detroit that look like they are part of a war zone.

Also that neighborhood is in Detroit here in America. There are actual neighborhoods that look just like that. The neighborhood just became rundown over the years. The guy didn't lock her window, he unlocked it so he could sneak back in later.

This movie was such a fun time in theaters! We were all so untrustworthy of Keith but we all regretted it at the end! I was so shocked 😭

Lemme clear this up. This WAS a set. BUT, this is pretty much exactly the same as a TON of neighborhoods in Detroit, not just this one. Literally miles and miles of this between the city and the suburbs.

The mother was definitely the most empathic person in the movie. She was one of the many rape victims of the old man in the basement. If we look at it from her point of view, she thinks Keith, AJ and the random man are trying to kidnap Tess and take her away from her. She loved Tess so much and was just trying to keep her safe. This woman has been through so much and everyone just thinks that she is a monster trying to kill these people. If she wasn't kidnapped by that horrible man then Keith, AJ and that random man would still be alive. The old man is the true monster in this story and nobody sees it. I feel so bad for her :(

Keith deserved so much better in this movie.

I feel like the shift at the middle of the movie is to show AJ's perspective to the same situation Tess went through, like Tess said, men usually are not afraid of going scary places alone, usually men like AJ feel like they can take on anything like he tried to do with what he thought was a squatter

They knew what they were doing when they casted Bill Skarsgård. His face is so sexy but so creepy. All I see is Pennywise when I look at him

I've heard multiple youtubers question why the movie's title is "Barbarian". It took me under 5 minutes to catch the name of the street.

The movie is rather Impressive honestly especially with how they handle Bills Skarsgard's character in the beginning

In 1984/85 Detroit went from a booming metropolis to everyone trying to leave as fast as possible because the factories went robotic. It eliminated the majority of the decent paying jobs in the city and made a mad rush to leave.

Please watch Terrifier 2. It's a gorefest and it made some people vomit in the theaters. Art the Clown is hilarious as the villain. The movie was made for only $250,000 and it's awesome.
