That was the real beauty of this movie. Everyone was right. They all had their perspectives and acted on them, all remaining true to their respective characters.
Interestingly enough, Tony said “He killed my mom.” Not he killed my mom AND DAD. Sort of puts into perspective how Tony was close to his mom but not his dad.
No, you can fault Ross pretty easily. Nothing the Avengers did causes the alien attack on New York, nothing they (actually) did caused the Sokovia disaster, and I mean not even Tony, nothing they did caused the events in DC, that was SHIELD and Hydra, and you can't even blame Wanda for the bomb, because if she'd done nothing more people would have died.
@@cory6266 I mean Sokovia is literally Tony fault, nyc the same governments they’re supposed to trust tried to bomb nyc. Then DC was because the government so the whole thing was ridiculous.
@@cory6266 sokovia is the only one that is valid because had tony not fucked up with Ultron (even though his motivation behind it was good) those people would have never been in danger. Everything else is bullshit because the casualties would have been worse had the avengers not stepped in
@@carterharris2724 When did Tony fuck up? Remember, Jarvis said they weren't even trying to make AI yet, just examining the stone, Ultron was the cause of a fluke reaction between the stone and Jarvis's program. Where, specifically, was Tony's mistake?
@@cory6266 tony literally set all of that into motion, of course he didn't predict it or expect it but it still happened because of him. Not saying he had bad intentions but it's still a consequence of his actions
The fact that he was just a regular person with no superpowers yet he still brought the Avengers to their knees...that's some Lex Luthor shit. Great villain.
My favourite part of dialogue is at Peggy's funeral, when Sharon gives her speech because they pulled some of it from the comics. In Amazing Spider-man #537, Spider-man asks Cap how he deals with the feeling he has when it seems like the country is against you & Cap's response is, "Doesn't matter what the press says. Doesn't matter what the politicians or the mobs say. Doesn't matter if the whole country decides that something wrong is something right. This nation was founded on one principle above all else: The requirement that we stand up for what we believe, no matter the odds or the consequences. When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world - No, YOU move.”
Winter Soldier is still my #1 MCU film but this is a great sequel. It's crazy to think how Steve and Bucky's friendship has shaped the arc of the MCU. Glad to see Sebastian out there making a name for himself.
Yea winter soldier is definitely still my favorite as well. Perfect comic movie. I was really hoping Ragnarok was going to be a cosmic winter soldier but they went a weird route for Thor.
So happy you brought marvel back, some great marvel movies coming up too! Chadwick Boseman was amazing and a genuine treasure. R.I.P. You have such great reactions and commentary in your videos!
This was the perfect wrap up for the Captain America Trilogy. It was a masterpiece all the way through. Chadwick Bosemen is the actor who plays Black Panther, and he absolutely crushes the performance! Great reaction, bro!
Chadwick Boseman is black panther, RIP ❤️. Zemo although he has no super powers or anything is the best villain. He completely destroyed the Avengers by having them destroy each other
The words that Zemo used to enrage the winter soldier were his activation codes. He was a Russian/hydra sleeper agent (one who can lead a seemingly “normal” life but there is orders/ programming put in his subconscious through brainwashing). The words were random and had no real connection to each other to prevent anyone from activating his killer instincts accidentally through normal conversations. Since there was a large code book that zemo had, it could be implied that certain strings of code-words put together would activate his brainwashing to do different things. For a hypothetical example; a code like house-freight train-jambalaya-Doberman would maybe put him into a relaxed state of mind, whereas David hasselhoff-gym shoes- bacon strips would order him to topple a government in South Asia.
Pretty much all the MCU movies from here out are 10's.. I just watched the final movie this past weekend. "He is my friend.... So was I" that kills me.
@@Jason_Van_Stone and @Thomas MacGruber Your opinion and poor taste is in direct contradiction to the very vast majority of critic reviews, box office revenues, rotten tomatoes and general appreciation for compelling story telling. Black Panther up until last year was the highest earning Marvel character stand alone movie (none of the Iron Man or Captain America movies could even touch it, congrats and tip of the hat to the newest spider man movie). Black Panther through its story telling also gave us anti-villain epitomized: producing Killmonger, who most critics and viewers acclaim the best villain in Marvel movie history and garnered reviews and headlines like "Black Panther-Storytelling at its finest" and this was for a freaking Marvel movie! But I surmise that compelling story telling and multidimensional characters goes beyond your Marvel movie expectations and seems dull to you right, not enough boom boom explosions to keep your simple dull mind stimulated. Luckily most of the world doesn't suffer from your affliction.
"Black Panther elevates superhero cinema to thrilling new heights while telling one of the MCU's most absorbing stories -- and introducing some of its most fully realized characters" - Critics Consensus Rotten Tomatoes. You're "special" when you jump in the comments to shade not only one of the most commercially successful MCU movies of all time but also what remains till this day the highest critically acclaimed and ranked MCU movie. Black Panther is literally the most critically AND commercially successful movie in the MCU, but you can't please everyone and there will always be outliers who just have bad taste.
@@Jason_Van_Stone you’re taste is terrible then… Black Panther is one of the best films in the MCU… visually stunning, great characters and very important to the overall arc in the story of all the films
Glad to see the MCU reactions are back bro thank you for that I appreciate the edits and awesome reactions. This is where the MCU really starts kicking off
Yeah this movie had me so conflicted, from Tony wanting revenge for his mom and dad, to Black Panther wanting revenge for his dad, and even Baron Zemo wanting revenge for losing his entire family. As a family man I definitely understood everyone’s point of view.
It takes smart writing to make a conflict feel organic in how it starts and at the same time make it so you can understand or relate to everyone involved. Most people see comic book movies to be movies about the spectacle. We've all already seen these superheroes fighting villains in previous movies and defeated them. So a movie where the superheroes fight each other was the logical next step. The most amazing feat this film accomplished is that even though most people went to the theaters looking forward to see that spectacle of the heroes fighting each other, the characters were so well written and the film did such a great job at making us sympathize with them, that even though we paid for our tickets to watch them fight, by the time it happens we are all wishing for them to STOP fighting. That fight at the end between Captain America and Iron Man was heartbreaking to see.
First reactor I've seen have a reasonable response to this movie.. Everyone was fighting for what they felt was right and they all had a reason to feel that way.
Fire. One of the best MCU movies, maybe THE best of them all. I love this one. The tension level is off the map, the FX, the choreography, just everything about this flick rolls balls out.
Everyone in this movie had legit beef, it's ******* amazing that we love these characters and see all their points of view. Ultimately, no one is the real villain except war itself. And I gotta say I love Tony and I love Steve Rogers, I have ever since I was a kid.
I think that mother's words weighed especially hard on Tony because it reminded him of who he was before he became Iron Man. He stopped making weapons to protect innocent lives but he found he couldn't escape it.
Hey devin great reaction bro! You got to watch the black panther movie next you won’t be disappointed. He’s one of the best fighters in the marvel universe and is apart of the avengers in the comics and one of the most important and main characters in the avengers and marvel comics and he’s also married to storm from the X-men FYI!
Did you recognize the coach from Warrior is the bad guy at the beginning with the cool mech suit that blows himself up? First video I watched of yours was your Warrior reaction.
Devin G... You got this all right . You explained it right on the money and I am very happy to be a subscriber to your channel . This reaction and commentary is now in my favorites list . I enjoyed every minute of this... the sad moments did get to me but it was clear what was happening and why . For me the only one ingredient missing in this movie was The Hulk but Dr. Bruce Banner ( Hulk ) was trying to not bring out the Hulk so he stayed away . I get that the Hulk struggled with his powers more than the others... in The Avergers he admitted to trying to kill himself but the Hulk wouldn't let that happen.... that is some hard consequences to deal with . Given that the Hulk was MIA and he is my favorite ; I still feel that out of all the Marvel movies this is my favorite . Thank you again Devin G for this .
16:37 That moment when Spidey just stopped wintersoldiers punch like it was nothing.... "Cool arm dude!" -Not long ago we saw winter soldier punch his way out of a steel cage... It says something about just how strong spidey is!! So yes, he beats everyones ass. He can take out anyone if he wants to, just wait till you get to No way Home!!!... Spidey is the ultimate hero. Brains and muscles and he's got heart and empathy!
The one thing that bothers me abt Tony’s motives to the accords, nobody pointed out the reason that woman’s kid was killed, was because Tony decided he’d play with AI and created Ultron in the first place. Tony’s bad, Tony’s responsibility, Tony’s mess. The Avengers had to clean his mess up.
17:30 Wanda Maximoff is an untaught natural witch that was experimented on by Hydra to turn her into a weapon. Strength? Well, it's way up there if she can spank Vision in seconds or drive all of the Avengers insane in just a few minutes. She becomes unbelievably powerful when she is upset or hurt. Remember what she did to twenty Ultron bodies when she felt her brother die?
Out of all of the avengers, Captain America is my favorite. He represents pure morality and Chris Evans nails his character. You will see why he represents pure morality when you watch Avengers Endgame.
Wooo!! Nice! Of course now you got to watch the 2017 film Spiderman : Home Coming. :D Also not sure if you've seen the 2015 film Ant-Man, but while I was tie-ing my shoelaces so I could go check the mail, because the mail box , a metal box that is far from where I was tie-ing my shoes, I heard from my sister's cousin's brother that you really should see Ant-man also. I'm not giving out spoilers but both are really good and family friendly. : )
This is such a great movie, glad to see you bringing some Marvel back, I understand why you 're not posting them on on RU-vid, but please when you get to Infinity War and Endgame post them here. I really enjoy your reactions and would love to see your opinions on those ones.
Awesome reaction video, Devin. I remember seeing this in theaters and not being prepared to see Iron Man and Capt fighting each other. As you said everyone had legit motivations on why they are doing what they do. I'm still team Capt all the way though. It's hard seeing Chadwick Boseman in this, just like with any movie with people that have passed way too early in life. I can't wait for the other Marvel movies to react too!
Great flick, love that we can believe in everybody's motivations. The one knock I'd put on it: Zemo's plan was convoluted as hell. So many things that he had no control over had to go perfectly. Doesn't ruin the flick, but if you take a minute to think about it...
The plan: He acquired the book of code words. He knows where Bucky is roughly. He has an EMP ready for that powerplant. He infiltrates the security agency set around that convention. He sets of a car bomb with the purpose of framing Bucky. This will cause the agencies and the avengers to find Bucky for him. At the agency the power is killed by the EMP, he asks about december 16th and turns Bucky loose for his escape plan. At this point nobody suspects Zemo so he jets over to Moscow. Kills the winter soldiers. Finds the video evidence on Bucky. Waits for the Avengers to show up, which they will because Bucky knows where Zemo is, and exposes Stark to his parents deaths. Conflict would ensue. He'd either be killed or kill himself after its done. Only thing is, he didn't know about the black panther. The 'not so deliberate' murder of the king is the factor that got him caught before he could rob himself of live. What part of this is random and up to chance?
The fight in Sakovia (Age of Ultron) is the one fight that you really can blame on the Avengers (specifically Tony and Bruce). No Ultron, no Sakovia fight. I think that's why the deaths there (represented by Charlie Spencer) are the ones that really weigh on his conscience. He knows every one of those is on him.
26:17 His name was Chadwick Boseman but in the MCU his name is T'Challa AKA The Black Panther. 20:33 That is how we know Tony is not a fan of being stabbed in the back. 23:37 That is how you make a good film. Make the audience relate to both sides of a conflict.
Devin! Have you looked into Reacher at all? It's on Amazon Prime Video. Based on the Book "The Killing Floor". You'd love it! It is a series though, not a movie.
It’s in my top 5 but Infinity War is MCUs masterpiece so far…..Infinity War, The Winter Soldier, Ragnarok, Civil War, then No Way Home …..those are my top 5 5 currently
Cap has seen what happens when governments become too powerful and have complete control over "security". Tony wants to relinquish responsibility, be it positive or negative, for what happens when the Avengers intervene in world affairs. Plain and simple Tony is wrong. Their power is THEIR responsibility. They are not a weapon that some board of government appointed bureaucrats gets to wield for its own purposes. Those who would trade their own autonomy for security deserve neither and will lose both.
@@cinemappendix1389 I dont either. Ya gotta think, Cap has fought the NAZIs in WWII, and they all just recently just dealt with Hydra infiltrating the highest levels of the US government, and Tony's next step is to give even more power to unnamed, unelected, government bureaucrats. It makes no sense!
It was a hard movie to watch, all the pain and hurt, revenge, they’re all fighting each other, pissed at each other. It was still great though! You’re gonna have to check out Black Panther now, this movie was his introduction into the MCU.
