Well he technically was. They had some recordings that weren’t used so they put them in the third movie. I like to think that this is his final performance
The voice actor and inspiration for Doc Hudson, Paul Newman had passed away due to lung cancer after the first movie, so they made Doc pass away in a similar way to memorialize him in the 2nd and 3rd movies
People who hate on this movie forget that it's called "Cars", not "Lightning McQueen" This movie enriches the lore of the franchise, shows us more of the racing, and has the most thrilling spy action I've ever seen
I can see why some would, cause you'd expect the sequel to the first would still mostly be about racing right? The spy stuff just kinda seems way out of left field, but I will give them credit for creativity with the spy stuff.
@@adekunletaiwo1342 the spy stuff is just "Maters Tall Tales". If you watched "Cars Toon" as a kid, you'd see Mater telling a story and no one believing him. Then they find out it's true at the end. This would just be an extension of that. The message is about friendship and trust. The plot is that there are people who are hurt who just want others to feel the same. They make these messages very obvious, I think people would rather just hate on a series just because it's different than what brought you into it
What’s funny is I remember a time where people SHIT on this movie, and now it’s one of the most memorable cars movies, that’s why I believe we’re living in a simulation, because shows/movies that I remember people were calling shit, are now praising them.
People hate new because different, then embrace it later on because old. This is a common practice across humanity. Just look at the Pokemon fandom. Hate every release, buy them anyway, then say it was peak two gens later.
WTF on you on about? Since when was this the most memorable cars movies? LMAO. All the people that shit on this movie STILL shit on this movie. And everyone that loved it... STILL loved it. Nothing changed except for your focus on the different opinions that has already existed...
@@MrMagicianJr if i don't see at least "Holley Shiftwell" in that movie then i won't see it until it comes on disney +. Couse seeing disney now-a-days. They movies SUCKS. Inside out 2 at least looks good right now but you never know
@@crocothegamer13666 Disney ruined a lot of things mainly star wars, I don't mind when some animations get a lot more sequels than they should do, like toy story I'm happy that there's a 5 movie coming out
Hope you’re ready for a SUPER CONTROVERSIAL TAKE, I actually love this movie. Like I legit did not know this movie was so widely HATED when it was first released!!!!
i dont care what anyone else says about this movie, its fucking cool ok, did everyone just want the same movie again where he does another race? nah, great movie would reccomend 11/10 oh yeah, i also just remembered how hard the soundtrack slaps
Finn McMissile is voiced by Michael Caine, who's most famous for playing Ebenezer Scrooge in The Muppets Christmas Carol and Alfred in Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy.
to me this is a masterpiece and the best of the franchise. It’s so grounded in its own ‘cars’ universe and its quality never ceases to amaze me. just because it felt like a different genre of movie doesn’t make it bad. It’s evolved. Pixar is just showing the lengths they could go within their universe. since a child parts of that world still lives in me.
Just to be mindful. To those who say this sequel wasn't as 'family friendly' Just remember. Mia and Tia "flashed" their headlights at McQueen A joke about being high at the Rustees sponsor's tent Sally's "back tattoo" Mater not understanding "Piston" cup.
As a Neapolitan, I guarantee you that ours is a historically cosmopolitan city, always influenced by cultures ranging from the Spanish to the American one, even passing through the Arab one. For complicated historical reasons, we Neapolitans ourselves have been the subject of racism from northern Italians in the past, we know well what it means and we have it like scars on our skin. We would all be very happy to help you change your opinion about our city, which is truly MUCH more than the classic "mandolin pizza mafia" stereotype.
Living in a town with a huge Italian population the Calabrese get a lot of grief as well. It's all light hearted for the most part but it still lingers on from the old country.
@@ronweber1402 yes it hasn't disappeared but it is decidedly rarer and more veiled and belongs to the older ones, teenagers can almost joke about it, but we have all had grandparents who told us about it in a much heavier and more painful way.
@@elvioerrichiello6994 from hearing from my family and other people, (my family is from Basilicata), the discrimination spreads through most of southern Italy, and still lingers to this day. Not sure how accurate that much is, but I can say confidently that what you're saying is true.
31:58 their objective is to make oil seem like the best option that way they will be more popular and since they are old cars it is hard to find parts for them so when they finally become recognised their parts will be in stock again
Fun fact: There is a mini seires called "Cars Toon" it's about mater's imagination's adventure I think... The last time I watched it is when I was a kid so I can't remember much
Ngl i cant wait to see cars 4 come out in 2025 i think they say its the final race for lightning and its called "The comeback" but cars 2 shocked me so much i i didnt even think they were gonna do all that spy stuff it was awsome
Van's protest "Hey, that didn't happen!" is a reference to several Mater's Tall Tales when at the end of each episode LIghtning would say "Hey, that didn't happen!" because he disbelieves that those stories Mater told (from racing in Tokyo to being a hardboiled Film Noir detective).
It's cool to see that during the second time seeing this movie I noticed that the Rally Car (the cars that specifically race on dirt roads) was always trying to drive off road, which is a neat bit of extra detail.
Side rant of the Oil Rig in the beginning but I currently have 3 family members on a Offshore Oil Rig where they carry out drilling and such, you can find more information about it but it’s such a high paying job because of the mortality rate being so high and the danger you’re around 24/7 for 6 months out of the year but you get plenty of money to support yourself for a long time
It’s funny because when I was younger, I never knew who the unmasked villain was until the end of the movie. Could someone tell me the clues to how to find the unmasked villains in the movie before the end of the movie?
So the boat at the beginning of the movie is a real ship in a Discovery Channel program called Deadliest Catch. The ship’s name in the movie is Crabby and in real life it’s The FV Northwestern. And Crabby is actually voiced by the real ship’s captain Sig Hansen.
This is one of the movies that was not what I expected it to be. Some of the movies include,(which I would also like you to react to) are: Real City Heroes: Sergeant Cooper, My Little Pony 2017 Movie, A Lullaby For a Princess/The Moon Rises. I really want you to react to Sergeant Cooper, my sister loves these series. This is a kid series, but I don't mean like little, I mean like 10 or 12 years old.
This movie is good for sure. Its my fav if we look at the movies seperatly. But it doesnt connect the movies. We went from a amateur new racer mcqueen racing and learning about manners to spys, alternate fuel, violence etc. And them in 3rd movie we are back at racing. But this movie is underrated af i dont hate it
The reason why Alexander Hugo backed down was because he thought Ivan (Mater in disguise) was threatening him to leave him alone by saying his identity and criminal record aloud. "Do not mess with Ivan today. He's in a bad mood." Finn thought Matee was trying to intimidate him into being quiet.
And also look - «Cars On The Road» & Monster Truck Mater By the way, so as not to look «Monster Truck Mater» you may or may not, but you should definitely watch instead of Monster Truck Meter - Tales of the Meter, there will be episodes all in a row
And yes, Doc Hudson died 🥹😓😭 It’s a shame there will be something new in Cars 3.... You’ll understand when you watch it, I don’t want to talk about it before and be sure to watch Cars on the Road!;)
Working on an offshore oil rig can be very lucrative, but it's just about some of the hardest manual labor you can experience. You definitely earn your paycheck.
There’s only one thing I don’t like, and perhaps not for whom it’s also possible not to comment, but so that we can hear the sound and picture of what’s happening, or not enough comments, because here they can watch those who haven't even watched this Legendary Cartoon
This was my very 2nd Pixar movie ever (Cars 1 was the first) and I see how this is the most hated Cars movie because it doesn’t focus on racing but the movie is called Cars not Lighting MqQueen so I can be about anything with the cars, in my book this movie is goated because most of my childhood was made of watching this, playing the game on Xbox 360 and collecting all the toys
15:32 In terms of real life, NASCAR cup series cars at tracks like Daytona International Speedway or Talladega Super-Speedway (at least until before the start of the 2017 season) could move at speeds of 200 miles per hour at best and back in the 1980’s a man named Bill Elliot put on the fastest qualifying lap ever at 210 to 212 miles per hour. Formula One Cars on the other hand can go at about 230 miles per hour.
I believe the voice actor for Doc Hudson passed away before Cars 2, so his character also "passed away", it's never really explained what happened to Doc
8:18 indeed he is Paul Newman aka Doc Hudson, hes dead, the actor of Doc Hudson just paased away before Cars 2 so they have to change the lore of the movie
The 2nd movie wasn't bad. But it is baffling how actual spies fail to realise Mater isn't a spy, nor how incompetent he is. But the 3rd movie is actually beautiful
Cars 2 is still my favorite cars movie and will always be my favorite And also Paul Newman which is the voice of doc Hudson died between cars and cars 2 so they just decided that instead of changing the voice actor they just made doc die in honor of Paul Newman
Mater tall tales when? B) Recommended to watch 2 at a time or 3. Or could just binge them. It has some interesting lore bits thrown in it. No idea if it's canon or not but it's really interesting.
