The sequel "Wrath of The Titans" is one of my absolute guilty pleasures and I think it actually does some things as a sequel genuinely well but that might be rose tinted glasses talking. Should be a lot of "dumb fun" if you enjoy that.
Nah, those aint rose tinted glasses talking. It does infact Many things phenomenal as a sequel, when you view how a sequel is supposed to work compared to what it is a sequel to.
@@kamixakadio2441 Glad I'm not the only one who thinks so, I watched it again fairly recently and I'd forgotten how genuinely well some things were handled and built upon. I often wonder what they'd have done if the third movie had been greenlit, especially if they'd done as good a job in sequel building as they'd done for Wrath.
Yeah, I think the sequel improved and corrected some flaws from this one (like Andromeda's role, for example), but I felt they where trying so hard, there was too much in it. Also, didn't like Ares 🤣 But hey, I'm not ashamed to say this two movies are also a guilty pleasure of mine.
Hades is always portrayed as the bad guy in Hollywood but in actual mythology, he’s basically the brother that minds his own business and loves to stay at home in the Underworld. He’s chill and loves his wife Persephone.
"God that actually loves his wife and minds his own business instead of screwing everyone's lives ten times over? He must be our bad guy!"-Hollywood, probably
@@aaronbarlow4376 I think Hades is the least of the worst in Greek pantheon to be honest. I mean, Zeus and Poseidon are known as violators of women. The goddesses are horrible too 😂 There are some version of stories about Hades, but in the original one he 'kidnapped' Persephone but as the time goes on, Persephone grows to love him. Yeah, she leaves underworld every Spring because she is a goddess or patron of that season or something (she basically leave home to do work, and then come back 😂).
@@nitrokid I'm sure when Zeus gets with a mortal she loves it as well. Gods would be very attractive and charismatic, not to mention good lovers. And what woman wouldn't want a demigod child. 'Violators' is somewhat unfounded. It takes two to tango. Granted Poseidon wasn't too gentlemanly with Medusa but Athena was the real baddie there.
One of the funniest parts of demigod stories in mythology is the idea that an all-powerful god simply watches their child get beaten and rag-dolled by monsters and other powered beings on a quest while eating food up above and handing them a few gifts across the way. That's mythology parenting.
This is one of the films I have a soft spot for and I didn't think i'd like this considering I grew up with the 1981 version but I love this version and i'm a huge fan of greek mythology.
The Kraken scene completely underwhelmed folks back when this was released. The sequel I'd say has a somewhat similar problem in the climax. They're pretty cool movies though.
The cool thing about you ia that you actually have initiative on what you wanted to watch, and not dependent on other people's requests like many other channels 👍 Clash Of The Titans is my teenage years favorite. Very underrated. Hell, I'm not sure if people have heard of this movie nowadays 😂😂😂
i always wondered why any reactors react to this movie its so much fun...apart from the controversies circles these two films...i absolutely love clash and wrath of the titans❤️
I much prefer the original 1981 version, with Sir Laurence Olivier as Zeus, and impressive stop motion animation effects by the legendary Ray Harryhausen.
I’ve seen the original as well If you think the stop motion in the original version of this movie was good you should definitely check out Star Wars That’s where the real magic happens. I’m not trying to shit on your opinion but if you compare that stop motion to anything else released in the 80s I don’t think it’s anywhere near the best but that’s just my personal opinion
,since you started watching about gods and demi-gods, i recommend 2011- Immortals - Henry Cavil & Luke Evans 2016 - Gods of Egypt - Gerard Butler & Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Edit: also may also check out Jake Gyllenhaal's 2010 Prince Of Persia (sands of time)
@@abc.animal5143 It's not great, story-wise. But how many other films show Egyptian mythology gods on the big screen? That's where the value lies. Not in the story
Seb react to the Clash of the Titans (1981) and Jason and the Argonauts (1963). These are great films and you'll be able to see why many of us like these classic versions better. You can provide insight about what you like best out of each film.
This is one of my favorite movies dealing with Greek mythology because of how close to the myth they could get with it and it’s so good. The sequel is also so good as well, I hope you check it out!
These are great movies to just turn your brain off and enjoy it for what it is. It came out around the time studios had no idea really what to make. And after Gladiator and other historical movies did well the studios thought these kinds of movies would do well, and they attract a lot of actors. Troy and 300 were the best of that era of historical movies I think.
I did a course on Greek and Roman myths. Apart from this i cannot think of a story where Medusa actually willing turned someone to stone. Athena turned Medusa's hair to stone after Medusa was attacked by Poseidon. Perseus was helped by Athena, had Hades helmet and Hermes sandals. He also found out when Medusa was asleep and killed her then. These is just one of the stories. When Perseus killed her, pegasus was born and is the child of Medusa and Poseidon.
Your commentary is hilarious. Loving it :) BTW Hades said "this is the will of Zeus...YOUR father.." as he looked directly at Perseus, and everyone saw that, so they suspected Perseus of being the son of Zeus. Plus he wasn't affected by the sucky tornado.
My favourite bit of trivia about this movie is that, in the first Olympus shot when Hades comes to talk to Zeus, Nanny McPhee is hiding behind of the thrones because it was being shot in the same studios and Emma Thompson came to say hello to Liam Neeson (sat on his lap and said 'you've been a very naughty boy'). I can't watch Clash of the Titans without thinking about it now. XD
@@abc.animal5143 this version the dialogue is too modern. I don’t like how Medusa looks in this movie vs the original. The Krakken looks better in the original too.
@@abc.animal5143 George Lucas Rankor and the creatures you see in the Falcon chess board in New Hope were influenced by Ray Harryhausen. Tim Burton too influence from Ray with Invaders from Mars. Ray influenced Sam Rami Army of Darkness. Ray influenced many filmmakers that came later. That is why the original is better.
Exactly, not only is this movie's dialogue is too modern, the visuals such as the costumes are as well. As one goes back into history we do not expect the ancients to look modern and stylized. Since technology improves exponentially I'd say the 1981 version reimages the time better than this. It was able to captured a more archaic look inadvertently because it was 1981.
The 1981 version with Harry Hamlin has a bit of a better story. The special effects may not be as good, stop motion for most of the creatures, but it's what I grew up with and I enjoy it more. You might want to watch that version
As I’m sure many people have said, you need to see the one from the early 80s. It was the last film of the historic Ray Harryhausen, the stop motion fx genius. In Monsters Inc, there was a restaurant named after him. It may be a generational thing, but I prefer it to the new ones.

OMG NO WAY THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE FILMS I CANT BELIEVE YOURE ACTUALLY WATCHING IT 🔥 (By the way seb, please watch the Disney animated Hercules, its the best Disney renaissance film by far)
The titans where the gods before the classic Greek gods that were most familiar with like Zeus and Poseidon and what not. They were the parents of the Greek gods that we know and we’re overthrown by Zeus and rest because the titans came to believe their children (the Greek gods) would become too powerful and tried to kill them but they were defeated by the Zeus and other gods.
Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters also with Jeremy Renner and Gemma Aterton/Arterton, I can't ever remember what her surname is but thats a fun witchy/monster movie thats a bit silly but more than enjoyable
I just wanted to say that seb u are the source of my entertainment and i started watching all the back when you watched the Avengers for the first time id justnlike to say thank u
IKR !? 😅 I swear my dude, I was beginning to think that I was like the only freaking person who has seen that movie ffs! I personally love those types of movies. You know…like the ancient mythology movies that are super freaking loose with the actual myths and/or history type shot? Like… 300 (and yes, even it’s sequel…sorry, not sorry😉) plus this one and it’s sequel, as well as immortals. Idk why really🤷♀️but if I had to guess, I’d say that (for quite a few of those examples at least😉) it’s the almost “graphic novel-esc visuals” and over all “epic-ness” of them, you get me🤨? But anyways, yea I hope he does that and the rest of the ones that I just talked about that he hasn’t already done.🤞
The Titon’s ruled all, and as one kept having children he ate them for fear that they would oppose him. Zeus was hidden by his mother and allowed to live to adulthood. He injured his father and pulled his two brothers and two sisters out. These gods defeated the Titans. It was Zeus, Hades Poseidon, Hera & Demeter. The humans were made of mud/clay by the gods. They wandered had kids together and apart, some gods, like Athena was born out of the top of Zeus’s head, Aphrodite was born of the Sea & so she’s seen as Poseidon’s daughter. In the old stories, Poseidon is the ‘evil’ god, they lived off of the sea and so many were lost to the sea that he was the evil one. The destructive one. He’s the one who created the Kraken- a creature from the sea. And when the king and queen said that their daughter was more beautiful than Aphrodite- so Poseidon tells them to sacrifice her, or he’d unleash the Kraken and destroy their city.
I really appreciate that you are choosing to watch there. Therare some great movies from this time period, such as some stop-motion movies made by a Ray Harryhaessen, going from the original King King movie in the earlie 1930s.... on up. I would watch Clash of The Titans, Wrath Of ath Titand, The Creature From Black Lagoon, and dozens more. A true master in his form of artwork and design!
i know you don’t look at the comments other than right after you’ve released the video. but if you see this i was just wondering if you’ve seen Inception?
I think the original does much better with the characters, even if the stop motion is a bit dated and breaks immersion. Still took a lot of skill to create.
