Can't wait for your reaction lol. As someone who grew up in California during this era, this film was totally relatable and takes me back to my teens

lol. Great reaction. The actual line is, "it was five years ago, and you were barely even married to her." So, they were only step siblings for maybe a six-month marriage when they were 10 and 12-ish. They didn't grow up together. It's actually creepier that she's 16 and he's in college (so at least 18). I see no one else mentioned that this movie is actually Jane Austen's Emma retooled for the 90s. (Elton is Mr. Elton, etc.) So, in the source material, "Josh" is actually a family friend who is around 40 and has known her for her whole life. So, it's been all kinds of creepy and beloved for over 200 years.

You cannot say on the one hand that she has a good heart and tries to set people up to get along and then concur that she's just a ditz with a credit card: we have seen an entire movie of mistakes and learning, along with using credit cards.

I love heterosexual men's reaction to this movie one of my all time favs, still know the lines.

The stepbrother part throws everyone off. But their parents weren't really married for and extended amount of time, and they weren't genetically related so.🤷 Even Will and Lisa from The Fresh Prince were technically step siblings.

My 2 favourite movies from the 90s in this genre are My Girl and Can’t Hardly Wait. But this one is excellent as well. It’s basically a satire of early 90s teenagers.

That bloke that plays the teacher was also in star trek, he had like a mohican kind of hairstyle and blotchy spots on the sides of his head. I can't remember the characters name now though.

He's no longer her stepbrother cause of the divorce if that makes sense, it doesn't.

They weren't raised together though... the parents got married briefly for a couple months then split up. So no they didn't know eachother as young kids. If my dad married someone with a super hot son and he was only my stepbrother for 6 months and then my dad and stepmom split up, not sure I would ever really think of him as my brother the rest of my life. 🤷🏽‍♀️
