There's a saying that basically goes "Everyone dies twice; the 1st is after their heart beats for the last time, & the 2nd is after their name gets said for the last time." It makes you wonder how many of the billions of people who have died have no one left alive who remembers them?
It can also sometimes make you wonder how many people it actually took for you to be born. Cause if you go back 10 generations it took 2048 people for you to be born
@@purgeblue not to mention when you take age into consideration. Coco lived ALOT longer than her...was gonna say parents but mother I guess...due to modernized healthcare.
From a cultural standpoint, Coco means the world to me. The sheer respect for Mexican culture in this movie is just incredible. The music, the food & the preparations for The Day Of The Dead. The culture itself is part of who I am and it's very important, as is the message of the importance of family. Also, the customs agent in The Land Of The Dead was portrayed by funnyman Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias.
@@chrisdiokno5600 It blew my mind when I did that bit of research after I watched this movie a while back....I believe it was the year my family and I observed El Día De Los Muertos for the first time.
About the ending, theres been many studies about how music is stored in our memories, and how people with dementia unlock parts of their memory temporarily by listening to the music of their childhoods. Basically music is unbelievably rooted into humanity, in all cultures and races, I'd say to be human is to enjoy music, and to enjoy music is to be human
fun fact: the strings played on the guitars can be replayed irl and will be the correct strings, unlike other media where they just play random strings. I love that attention to detail
The movie doesnt need to show it Its implied with how miguel is a musician now and got other family members to join in and everyone is happy at the end
This movie helped me connect with my Mexican heritage so much. My grandparents died before I was born, so I didn’t have anyone that lived in Mexico to teach me.
in case you didn't know, at 26:03, the luchador shown is El Santo, who was essentially a real life version of superman. Every single person in mexico knows who he is, and he is undoubtably the greatest luchador of all time. He was never unmasked, and if I remember correctly he died a week after revealing his face on tv, further adding onto the legend that was El Enmascarado de Plata
You are the first reactor I've seen to clock why Imelda can't cross over in the beginning! I love watching your reactions because you're SO OBSERVANT! I subscribed today :D Keep up the great work!
I saw a reactor clock on to the twist before Hector paints Miguel's face once... couldn't tell you who, only that it was the chick in a couple's reaction duo. Well, she wasn't sure... she kept going back and forth about Hector possibly being a villain and the actual twist. Only reactor I've seen be THAT sus of him, she was sus until De La Cruz's betrayal was revealed... she did NOT see that coming!
The skeletons represent the age of when the people died because if you noticed the little girl and her mother on the bridge when they are bringing Miguel back, she is about 5 years old looking, meaning she died at that age. Imelda and some of the others died semi young as well, minus Papa Julio, Coco's Husband who is the only "old" Skeleton among the family. The offrenda is an alter for offerings that one places the photos of the deceased and their favorite items from when they were alive. This allows them to come visit you and take back the love and memories you offer them in the form of food, drink or even an item like toys or a favorite cup.
That doesn't quite fit, though, because Imelda must have been old enough to imprint her hatred of music onto Elena (because Elena certainly didn't get it from Coco). So I really got the impression that Elena must have been _at least_ 18 when Imelda died, which would probably put Imelda into at least her 60s. The far more likely option, at least to me, is that ages, like everything else in the afterlife, are based on the memories of the living. Specifically, ages are based on how a person is _primarily_ remembered by the living. Right now, Coco is primarily remembered as she was at the end of her life, because she'd only died recently. But 20 years down the line, after people's first-hand memories of her have started to fade, if the photo of her on the ofrenda was replaced by a photo from when she was younger, then she would become younger in the afterlife as well. This would explain why, IIRC, everybody in the afterlife appears to be the same age that they are in their photos.
41:10 that won't work because he needs to be remembered by people who knew him when he was alive, and for his memories (of him in the living world) to be passed down to others by those who remember him
At first Hector was supposed to be a tour guide, and him knowing every spot in the Land of the Dead still stems from that early concept. In the end they didn’t use it in the movie but it was never discounted either.
fun thing, a old spanish teacher of mine saw a spirit when he went to a village at the day of the dead, after all the villagers left, a kid went to him and said he needed to leave the spirits alone, he was halfway there when he realized 1 thing, the village didn't have anyone that could speak english
loved this movie and ur reaction..it always dawned on me that cocos father and mother etc died seemingly at an early age compared to her..and of course you see tons of kids over the bridge, showing they died in some way very young Q.Q this movie is one of my fsvorites and always gets me crying.
can I just say you have become my favorite solo reaction channel out of group reactors there are others I prefer but as far as people who watch stuff on their own and focuses on reaction content (and not making it into a comedy routine) you have bceome my favorite your reactions are just so raw and genuine and never fail to delight as I say at the end of all my videos: Don't stop being awesome!
I love Coco so much its such a great movie. Love the twists, the music, and the cultural representation. Truly one of the movies that stays in my heart❤
Fun fact!!! Theres a mural on a wall which shows the incredibles as skeletons. Which technically means that in the pixar universe they are dead. But how did they die is the question?
Oh I never noticed the mural, that’s cool. But the incredibles takes place in the 1960s, and they were probably in their 40s if the movie starts with them in their twenties and then fast forwards 15 years to their non-super life, so them being dead checks out
Also, near the beginning of the film at 2:21 (it's a 'blink and you'll miss it' moment), you can see a van drive past a window that has the 'Pizza Planet' sign on top. It's the one from Toy Story.
Whenever I like a movie, I always look to see if Don reacts to it, and if he does, it is the best reaction. I love watching Don react to movies, my fav
It's time to cry I am writing a final qualifying thesis from a medical college And in general I stopped understanding what was happening, I just wanted to cry
Oh my goodness!! I’m so excited you chose this movie! This and The Good Dinosaur are in my top 5! You should definitely check out The Good Dinosaur. Edit: Did the notice the Pizza Planet van in the beginning when his Grandma is telling him no music? It drives past the window when she shuts the shutters.
a chorizo is kind of a sausage made of pork meat seasoned with different spices and chilies, it's really tasty if you ask me but the thing is that sometimes ppl use it with double meaning if you know what i mean lol
My guy you have been watching the beat movies of our time for the last few weeks so enjoy them because there won’t be many left seeing this new way people have begun making movies.
