This piece of trivia is sadly incorrect. They met in the 1967 story “The Evil of the Daleks”. They manipulated the Cybermen in a plot involving the second Doctor. However this story is mostly lost to time, as the video is all but gone.

Apparently Billie Piper was paid more than David Tennant for this season. She was more famous anyway, due to her previous career as a pop singer and tabloid newspaper curiosity about her marriage to another celebrity. "Doctor Who" made Piper a respected actor, and made Tennant a household name.
Now he’s been in Marvel, Star Wars, and so many other amazing things. And she’s gone on to do some other incredible stuff as well. I still remember when people were unsure of Tennant as the Doctor. Wild to think nowadays.
I still remember how SHOOK I was when episode 12 first aired, seeing those Daleks come out of the sphere. They'd kept everything a total secret, even the advance press screening copies of the episode had the last 5 minutes cut out so nobody could leak it! These villains had never met before in all of Classic Who so it was absolutely huge. Episode 13 aired the same weekend as the football (soccer) World Cup Final, I still have my copies of Radio Times magazine (like Entertainment Weekly) for that week with the Daleks vs Cybermen "Battle for the World" matching covers that had both sets of villains posing with footballs. Can't wait for your next reaction!

Even Mickey and Jackie grow and expand as people. Mickey becomes brave and heroic and Jackie, from quite a mean spirited start, becomes very warm hearted and generous (such as her friendship with Elton) despite her loneliness.
They said so much during the end discussion that made me think "Yeah, about that," but I won't spoil. I really enjoy seeing someone watch Doctor Who for the first time and hearing their takes.
There have been many "yeah about that" moments in various post episode discussions, that honestly just adds to the fun of the rewatches to see if they catch it later on when they know what we know. It is really cool to hear first time viewers experience the show, as they often notice things that I did not, or had forgotten over time. It provides a fresh take on a beloved series!
This is the first time The Doctor encounters Torchwood. It's first mention is in Bad Wolf as one of the Weakest Link questions and it's Torchwood is mentioned and in the finale destroys the Sycorax spaceship at the end of The Christmas Invasion. Then you've seen little Torchwood mentions throughout the season as this year's 'mystery box'. Fun fact: Torchwood is an anagram of Doctor Who and the production team used it as a code when they were couriering scripts or tapes while S1 was being made so people outside the production team wouldn't know what they were (because they could have been sold to the tabloids). I can't remember who in the team came up with it but RTD liked it so much he thought it'd be a great name for something.

Glad you enjoyed this story! For long term fans like me we had always dreamed of the Daleks and the Cybermen teaming up together or fighting against each other (usually in Doctor Who fan fiction), but the classic series didn’t do it, either because the writers couldn’t come up with a decent enough story to best showcase both sets of villains, or it never happened due to lack of budget reasons (probably the latter in the BBC’s case lol.) So when this episode aired, it was a big thing that the production team brought the Daleks and the Cybermen into this 2 parter, and the next episode, the season finale, won’t disappoint you, nor will the Christmas episode after the finale. Oh, and did I tell you that season 3 is better than either season 1 or season 2? Well, I think most would agree that it is, so fasten your seat belts because you guys are gonna be in for a terrific ride very, very soon! Can’t wait for your reactions!
I cannot wait for them to get to season 3! Definitely one of my favorite seasons, although it wasn't at the time it was airing. Subsequent rewatches have only made it better in my opinion, as well as having one of my favorite characters in it, and I so cannot wait to see them experience it for the first time!

Just to note, Tennant, who recently hosted the BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) awards for film, has just received a BAFTA nomination for Best Male Performance in a Comedy for his role in the TV series, _Good Omens._ This (rather surprisingly) his first nomination. (He has won Scottish and Welsh BAFTAs for _Doctor Who_ and _The Escape Artist.)_

You have no idea how much I've waited for you to get to this!! I told you it was Stellar!! Imagine seeing this like I did, 1st time, having grown up with the Classic Series, where Cyber and Dalek never met, and then this finally, it was like, jump up and down, punch the sky, giddy as all get-out feeling, OMG!! Seeing you guys jump back at the Dalek reveal was great! This show just has these moments that you never forget. You got a lot to come still, but this one still makes me just grin. And I know they're the baddies, but I can't help myself!! 🤣🤣🤣😅
Russell T. Davies, ie the executive producer, and the man who brought DW back to tv is my favorite kind of writer. He does not give a single shit about the viewer. He's like "Oh, you love this character? Well, f*ck you. I'm right here, baby, I WILL make you suffer."

The actors in the show - including classic Who - continue to appear in new audio stories (I'm lucky enough to have written some of them), so old and new Who can be blended in retrospect, meaning that there's an audio story called Damaged Goods in which the Seventh Doctor (Sylvester McCoy) is told about an organization named Torchwood and just says "never heard of them."
Yeah, that wasn't part of the original book I'm 99% sure. I own both audio and book but it's been years. If you wrote something for them, chances are I've heard it, I have a pretty full collection.

@@littlemissmello I'm based in the UK, but I mostly write for US radio (400+ plays so far). I also wrote a book that serves as a guide to Doctor Who's continuity called Lost in Time and Space. That, and my many Sherlock Holmes plays got me the gig. (It's weird that so many Who fans are also Holmes fans).

There's 20 + marvel movies. How are they going to know which one the inference is related too? There are a number of things it could be and they are not going to get it until they are knee deep in the episode. You've seen the show and you can't tell me exactly what I'm talking about. Their are more than one reference you can get from what I said and you have no way of knowing its what you think it is. Its difficult to be more specific without giving spoilers. All this fuss over something they will have forgotten by the end of the week.
It's not really known how long Rose has been travelling with the Doctor there are some other adventures with the Ninth and Tenth Doctors with Rose such as books, comics, big finish audio dramas and some mentions of other adventures that took place off-screen usually companions travel with the Doctor for a long time than it shows on screen whether you count the books, comics or big finish audios as canon is up for debate for me i only go by what's within the television series.
26:15, you are hitting it on the head. Once you have traveled with the Doctor, how do you go back to just sitting around playing spades and drinking a pint. He gives many of his companions a greater sense of purpose.
I understand Jackie, and how she wants to believe that it's her dad. If my parents came back to life I would have told the Doctor to shut their fool mouth.
Great seeing your reactions. I also loved seeing Mickey's growth as a character. Next episode is a great finale to this season/series. IMHO it's one of the best finales in modern Who.
This won't mean anything to the fans that have never watched Classic Who but for the ones that have been there with the show right from the beginning this was the most exciting episode yet as this was the first ever time in the show's history that the Daleks and the Cybermen appear together onscreen.

I am so HYPE for this episode, so excited that you guys have made it here!! This finale is epic. Season two has some of the weakest single-episode stories but the two-parters are all amazing, from the introduction to the Cybermen in the parallel world, to the Impossible Planet with the devil, to this season finale. I cannot wait for your reaction to the next episode! It's a real roller coaster of emotions, that still gets me all these years later. Also just want to point out that Torchwood was to this season as Bad Wolf was to the previous one, little breadcrumbs leading to the finale, that really add to rewatches when you know what to look for. I really like how the show runners incorporated that into the season, so that when the finale arrived, it doesn't feel like it comes out of nowhere. Just as Bad Wolf had followed them before, they've had brushes with Torchwood throughout the season until the Doctor finally meets them in the (audience's) present day incarnation.
Not revealing anything but there have been a few companions befor now that have been killed off and several in the future that will go tragically. It's getting harder to watch them go.

I had to take a break. Not a fan of Fear Hear or Love and Monsters. The two worst episodes in the whole series IMO. But im happy we’re back with the good stuff!
so yea obviously in retrospect having 2 stinkers back to back that were basically high school film club budget from the quality of every aspect its obvious they were saving the money to go out with a bang. its funny how they made mickey such a simp in the first episode and seeing him here..... totally different character. his balls finally dropped. i dunno if having 2 awful episodes can justify having a bigger budget for the finale.... ive always been in favor of more episodes because it adds room for those awful episodes so you dont feel cheated out of more content. even in the stinkers there are usually still fun moments or some good speeches. in todays era of 8 episode a season shows you can tell which ones would have been cut here and made a tighter season and more budget to spread across all the episodes. the problem i have is later on when doctor who starts getting shorter seasons and then they still include the stinker episodes now its the worst of both worlds instead of using those less episodes to make a better overall season.
