The Dragon Ball series is 1 of my all time favorite shows ever

The dragon ball manga debut in 1984 The anime started in 1986. The manga takes a lot of elements from the 1592 novel “Journey to the west” (there’s a game coming out soon call “Black Myth: Wukong” based on the same material) Goku is about 11-12 years old and Bulma is about 16-17. If you like the art style. You probably like Chrono trigger or the Dragon Quest games all made by Square-enix.

Goku is 12 and Bulma is 16.

Dragon Ball through Dragon Ball Z is one of the greatest fighting anime's ever made even for today. Also the story is loosely based off China's "Journey to the West" with Goku taking the place of Sun Wukong. Both Series add up to about 450 episodes so it can be quite long but super enjoyable.

This is considered the greatest and most favorite and beloved anime on the planet since it came out and you'll see why with each one considering Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT, and Dragon Ball Super. People have tattoos of their characters or scenes, countries all over the world have stadiums and outside parties of their seasons episodes, you are about to enter one of the biggest phenomenons in the world like bigger than Star Wars, The Avengers, Harry Potter, or Lord of the Rings. I just hope you go step by step and are wary of spoilers when reading comments!! When you consider starting Dragon Ball Z, make sure you don't watch Dragon Ball Kai. That is like a PG rated version of Dragon Ball Z without the original voice actors and music and is NOT the original. Dragon Ball GT doesn't follow the canon or comic but its good regardless what people say, but it isn't a prequel to Dragon Ball Super which follows the ending of Dragon Ball Z like Dragon Ball GT tries to do. Watch Dragon Ball Z, not Kai after Dragon Ball lol we're all excited for you!!

Just FYI there's some big changes in the script throughout this series. Like Goku's characterization for one. He'll say things he didn't because of Funimation.

You should try code geass lelouch of the rebellion, it's one of the best anime, and it has one of the best story ending in anime history, you are missing a jewel here

Fun fact: "Son Gokū" is the Japanese reading of "Sun Wukong" ("Monkey King"), the protagonist of the 16th-century Chinese novel, _Journey to the West,_ of which there are countless adaptations and references in Chinese and Japanese culture. _Dragonball_ is a _very_ loose adaptation. I think (although I'm pretty unfamiliar with the the story of the novel, only barely knowing it through descriptions of the plot) Toriyama included quite a few elements of the source material, but there's a lot of original material and material from other sources as well, like probably most of the characters and a lot of the plot. 9:40 This makes more sense in the original Japanese, where "Bulma" is pronounced "Bu-ru-ma", which sounds the same as "bloomers". You'll find many of the character names in _DB_ have specific themes, like clothing and food. Obviously, Bulma is in the clothing category. And Pilaf is food.

Just a few days ago me and a friend went back in memory lane talking about the original dragon ball series. Much less screaming and you see much more of the world compared to the later shows.

You don't HAVE to, but you get the better experience ;)

Dragon Ball started as a gag manga, Toriyama was a gag manga writer and artist but as the series goes on it gets a lot more serious and action heavy.
