First Time Watching Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves | Group Reaction 

The Hither-Thither Staff is what we D&D players call a DM Ass-pull. That's when the player fucks up so bad that the person running the game (the Dungeon Master or DM) has to quickly create an item or loophole so the plot doesn't just completely die off. And then when the players inevitably use the Ass-pull (say, by using it to sneak into the dungeon rather than using the Helmet which is essential to the character arc of one of the players, so no, you can't just skip it), the DM has to quickly make up a reason for it not to work.

One of the great moments of this movie is Xenk walking off in a straight line, largely because it was completely unscripted. The director decided not to yell 'cut' on one of the takes just to see what would happen, and Rege-Jean Page (the actor) decided that upon hitting the rock, Xenk would definitely walk over it.

This movie was SO much better than it had any right to be! I’m glad you picked up on Ed’s choice to save “Kira’s mom” instead of “his wife” (ngl, I BIG cried)

The reason Dungeons and Dragons reminds you of Lord of the Rings is because the game took its inspiration from the Lord of the Rings books. The Lord of the Rings novel was first published in 1954. The Dungeons and Dragons table top role playing game was first created in 1974. 📚🧝‍♂️🧙‍♂️🪄🛡🗡🏹📖🎲♟️

I would personally recommend the sorcerers apprentice. It’s from the better days of Disney movies and it’s one of my favorite Nicolas Cage movies.

If you're enjoying D&D related material, you might like The Legend of Vox Machina, an animated series on Prime (so far two seasons of 12 episodes each with a third greenlit) based on the first campaign of Critical Role, who are probably the most popular D&D live -streamers. Pretty much everything in the series is based on events in the game, so outcomes of key events can be surprising and nobody has plot armour. This is my first visit to your channel, so I don't know whether you do tv reactions, but you might want to check it out for yourselves, anyway.

So happy you enjoyed this! Actually, most all people who watched it was surprised how they heard very little about it, and thought it's a great and entertaining piece. I think somehow they screwed up the marketing and sales efforts, so it did not really do that good in the cinemas, with moderate revenues. Here's hoping that they will get a second part, still, eventually!

So the dragon dude on the console was what is called a Dragon born. (half dragons pretty much) Then a teifling is what happens when a devil and a human have a baby or you have a devil some where in your family line. So either her mom cheated or a family member lied about what they were at some point. The cat thing is a race called Tabaxi. Also DnD is a table top Roll playing game.

Dungeons and Dragons is a table top role playing game played with books full of quests and a few dices including a 20 sided dice. 🎲 The game has been around for several decades. If you have ever watched the TV show called Stranger Things that is the game that the main children characters are always playing. The reason this Dungeons and Dragons movie is full of strange out of the blue imagery is because most of them are Easter eggs to the game. My absolute favorite Easter egg is the other maze contestants that are full of young teenagers. They are characters from the Saturday Morning Cartoons from the 1980s called Dungeons and Dragons. I yelled and nearly fell out of my seat when they appeared in this film. LOL! 😄 The only thing that would have made that scene even more perfect if they had added Unie the unicorn from that cartoon series. LMAO!🤣🦄💖 🛡🗡🏹🪓🪄📺

The one judge cracks me up. "She's throwing potatoes!" "Oh Jarnathan!" I don't even understand why I love it but I keep rewinding to hear it again.

11:58 Yeah that's because Lord of the Rings had a massive influence on Fantasy works in general, especially D&D. You can see lot of similarities between them because D&D took many inspirations from Lord of the Rings

WOW, a non D&D player guesses what the dragon was spitting on the first guess! Chromatic Dragons ... Evil Black ... acid Green ... Poison Red ... Fire Blue ... Lightning White ... Ice Metallic Dragons ... Good Brass ... Fire and sleep gas Bronze ... Lightning and repulsion(pushes you away... USUALLY without killing you) Copper ... Acid and soporific gas(kind of drunk or sleepy) Gold ... Fire and weakness gas Silver ... Cold and paralyzing gas Gem Dragons ... Neutral to Good Too complicated to cover here... I will say that the Fat Red dragon you see later in the movie is famous and has made many appearances, and has a very sad backstory. The idea for him came about when a game was going on and they were using minutures, and the owners big fat cat jumped on the table and started knocking everything over... The Dungeon Master just adlibbed him into the story as a big FAT Red dragon!

this film just oozes charisma. Hugh grant, chris pine, are just amazing, with supporting actors that hold their own. Clever writing, and does not take itself too seriously. This captures not only great fantasy, but also great dnd.

Ah you did miss a tiny end credit scene but it wasn't a big deal. I'd love for them to have a second movie. With the DND concept, you can have a totally new second movie with a new cast of characters.

So, you are right about there being a game Dungeons and Dragons. It's usually played as a tabletop Role playing game. This movie feels so much like watching a campaign came to life. Funny story with the Dom Toreto reference. He's big into D&D. She was talking about that in an interview and I saw him in a session of a roleplaying game. He was fun to watch.

If you haven't seen the Lord of the Rings, I would recommend that you guys check out that masterpiece in the extended edition!

you missed one of the ending credits scene it was only a few seconds long so i think that's why you missed it but its a really funny ending i would definitely recommend either going back to rewatch the ending or watch a clip of it as it will possibly make your day.
