Xenk, the Rege-Jean Page character, seems like a very powerful NPC that the GM would use as support and exposition for the player characters. He is a lawful good Paladin, which is why he seems too good to be true. It’s his nature.

As a D&D DM of 40+ years, I love your appreciation for your DM ("born to be an old lady" -- LOL) -- I had super low expectations for this movie, after the first 3 awful D&D movies. This movie captured just the right tone of adventure and comedy that happens around most D&D tables.

Great reaction! For more context and also some of the fun D&D things I picked up on 30:32 Rakor is (was?) a black dragon, and black dragons have a breath weapon that spits acid instead of fire. Rakor and Themberchaud are real dragons from The Forgotten Realms lore 31:44 to 32:00 is such a roll for History that only Ed failed 38:10 Yeah, IMO Xenk is halfway between a DMPC and that one friend who usually works during the normal session time, but their shift got switched around for a few sessions so they made a character to help with a dungeon the DM was about to run.

Edgin was so used to NOTHING going his way, that it never even occured to him that they'd get a pardon. A lot of the conflict in the movie could've been avoided if they hadn't literally "jumped" to conclusions. On the other hand, their escape means the window got bricked up, so Forge couldn't do the same thing.

Would be fun to watch your reactions around a D&D table, I think. You come across as someone who'd be fun to DM for (or have as a friend on an adventure). One thing I love about D&D is that you can develop life-long friendships through it. I still keep in touch with all my buddies from high school (I'm 57 now) and we still play D&D together (via online VTTs and via multiplayer video games).

Every time I watch a reaction to this movie and reactor says "today we're watching Dungeons & Dragons" my subconscious just automatically completes it wuth "Satan's Game".

You can google a lot of stuff from the movies and get the backstory. A great amount of the lore has been around for ages, like the Harpers.

Why escape when they approved the pardon? Well.. some players are just that type of person... Also could just be they rolled what they thought was a bad roll for.. persuasion? and went through with the Jarnathan plan.. tho that's assuming they had to roll anything at all during the hearing. If not, then maybe they just assumed it was going to be one of those "escape the prison" types of scenarios, y'kno :v
