To explain some sense of Logic in this movie, if a person is immediately DIRECTLY saved like when Alex saved Carter then "it" (Death's Design) essentially skips them and moves to the next person in the chain, which was (Stifler) Billy. Alex's "sacrifice" didnt work because he (from what i can gather) didn't really die or wasnt fully dead so all he did was just saved Clear, and so it was still his turn it just waited to catch up to him. And after he was saved by carter it immediately went back to the earliest person in the current chain that would have died, which was Carter.
these movies are so fun!! the perfect mix of goofy and scary for halloween especially. the movies actually stay fairly consistent throughout the franchise too, the last one is one of the best in my opinion, glad to see you react to them now
22:58 the reason it skipped him then was the same reason it skipped all of them in the opening, when they got off of the aircraft, that was Death's new 2nd design. So now, Death has to go and finish the list in order with those still alive. Once the design has been executed for all of those on the list, Death with go back and begin a NEW 3rd design for anyone who survived Death's 2nd design.
Carter nailed the rules at the end he explained it. Once you're skipped you go to the end of the line and then it goes to the next person who was supposed to die, if you're not next you're basically immortal, everyone in front of you in line has been saved or killed it comes back for you.
"We Stan Henry Winkler" "Stan", A label for stalker/fan coined first by Eminem in 2000 in his song Stan features the star of this film Devon Sawa as Stan himself.
I agree with you! I think that’s the sad thing about this movie. Death is inevitable ( it seems) so you basically just watch Alex torture himself trying to save people he can’t. Reminds me of the existential question “if you knew exactly how you were going to die, would you want to know?” What’s the point? If you can’t change it How crazy would it make you to know? Poor Alex
Yes! Please watch the second one! I think it mostly gets better except for The final destination which is the fourth one. The second one is a lot more fun and the deaths and tension is so much more creative
Fun fact: This was originally intended to be an episode of The X-Files before it eventually became an independent feature. Particularly in this first one, some of those vibes remain.
You can't cheat death, it'll get you when you least expect it. On thing I noticed about the film is the frequent references to water. Water is commonly a symbol of death, burial and resurrection. Death seems to be personified by water in the film. There's the water in the bathroom when Tod dies. There's a scene with Alka-Seltzer being dropped into a glass of water. There's the steaming kettle and the water leaking from the cracked mug. Alex almost drowns in shallow water. There's the canoe trip. There's the swimming-pool. It's raining when they're in the car. One of the characters is even named "Clear Rivers." Even the beer they're drinking could be considered water. By the way, Tod foreshadowed his own death, when he made a hanging motion out of frustration when Alex changed seats with the girls. Also, when Carter almost died on the train tracks, afterwards it looks like he peed his pants. Can't say I blame him. Another thing I saw was the use of German language and references to German filmmakers who were known for some famous, what you might call, horror movies. "Der Tod" is the German word for "death." Tod's the first survivor to die. In real life, if I were him, I wouldn't like that name and would have been very concerned from the get-go after the plane exploded. The character of French teacher Murnau is almost certainly a reference to the F. W. Murnau, a German director regarded as one of the most influential filmmakers for his work in the silent era. He famously directed "Nosferatu," a film about a vampire. Agent Schreck is a reference to the German actor Max Schreck who played the vampire, Count Orlok, in "Nosferatu." Interestingly, "Schreck" in German means "scare" or "fright." Agent Weine must be named after Robert Weine. He directed "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari."
Glad you’re watching this. The whole franchise is designed to just be quirky fun, IMHO. Like how in Saw, the expectations are the elaborate nature of the traps and whatever the plot reveal at the end is. In Final Destination, everyone looks for however the scene is set up to eventually kill the survivors. There are 5 FD films to date. A sixth entry is said to be in preproduction, according to IMDb. The fourth is widely considered the worst by all the fans, myself included. Hope you’ll watch more of them.
John Denver was playing over the loudspeaker at the airport, than briefly on the radio before Todd unplugged it, than at Ms. Lewton’s, it was the same song each time and it keeps popping up throughout the movie.

This is the only movie I've ever been too where that ending instantly got a standing ovation and compliments heard throughout rows of strangers to each other how wow great brilliant new original the movie was people were whistling there were roars of yeah! And that was really really cool experiencing that moment as it was experiencing Scream 2 in theaters cause the opening scene in scream 2 with Ghostface costumes was exactly how everyone in the theatre was acting but without Ghostface customes
Maybe it's because I can't handle proper/classic horror but the FD series is the perfect style of survival horror. I keep coming back to this series 2 decades later, like it doesn't age for me.. and the special effects in the first movie still impress me. And speaking of impressed, I am in disbelief that you caught the foreshadowing from when Clear landed on the coffin. I absolutely did not pick up on that when I first watched it.
Todd is from Saw The Final Chapter and he isn't shitty at all lmao. His character was one of the most interesting parts of the movie. I don't get why people hate him lmao. He played this charming cop who knew his shit. He isn't exactly an Agent Strahm but he was good enough. He was much better than Bobby. I also just saw the Carter actor in My Bloody Valentine 3D last night and Devon Sawa's so great. Glad Chucky gave him a chance back in horror. Great cast of characters in this. Alex Browning is my favorite of the franchise. His acting is on par so well. FD3 is my favorite with this one. This is such a great concept. I could see it being turned into a TV Show one day. When Billy died, their kind of worried about not dying by Death and Alex was realizing exactly how it worked and that it skipped Carter and went right to the next one in line. Billy.
Literally me , calling Sean Stifler the whole movie LMAO. The craziest thing about this movie is after 23 years I just found out a few day's ago Ali's characters name is Clear and not Claire (Never watched the credits lol)
I think one of the creators said once that they did intend for Alex to die at the end, and it would be revealed that Clear and him had a kid in the epilogue or something(???) But that ending didn't go over great with test audiences. So, your observation about the coffin shot was not wrong, based on that~^.^
When I first saw Final Destination as an 11 yo kid it was not from the beginning, and on top of that the sound was turned off for some reason. So basically what I saw was an unknown movie where people get killed by not a maniac, not a monster, not even a ghost or a person, but by your very usual daily things and items, moving and "acting" on their own in many unexpected ways as if they're being alive, for an unknown reason - like, I didn't even know it was Death! I was so scared every little thing around me scared me. Been a fan ever since.
4:35 Then I definitely have to recommend Road Trip(2000), Mr. Woodcock(2007), Dude Where's My Car? and he's got a bit part in the college classic Old School(2003)
I never understood Tod’s parents. They’re so made at Alex. Would they have rather wanted Tod stay on the plane and die there? Aren’t they at least grateful they got a little extra time with him?
I hope you continue the series. I personally think it only gets better from here with the exception of the 4th movie which is easily the weakest link. Overall, it's a good series and all are pretty enjoyable movies. Not sure you'll continue after seeing your reaction to this one, but I recommend watching the whole series
i can't get on a plane since i saw final destination in 2000 lol it freaked me out that much...and recently i watched it and in slow motion u can see a passenger get an electrical wire on fire land on him he blows up and u can see body parts flying everywhere but it's fast so u can miss it at first...it's so well done and nasty
Professor laughing at Clear having to explain her empathic ability in an era that didn't have a word for it at a time, meanwhile he lives in the internet age and should probably know what an empath is. I'm giving the benefit of the doubt and assume he was laughing at the way the scene was directed. That was a weird time to stage sexual chemistry.
I think you will like the next one better than this one, they tighten up the formula a bit while giving you a bit of an extra thread that shakes things up a bit. It's up and down from there but overall it's dumb fun and even at its worst you can still have some fun trying to guess how people are gonna die. Probably my favourite finale of any horror franchise
Personally FD 2, FD 3, and FD 5 are the best. 2 & 5, particularly. FD 4... sorta like the first rule of fight club, we don't talk about it... but it's deaths are enjoyable. Some really good gore.
This is a bit random but have you seen Cabin Fever? As you seem to enjoy early 2000s movies, I think you could possibly like that one and I haven’t seen many other people reacting to it! Ps. a great video as always!!
7:18 my reaction would have probably been like God dang it I'm in a final destination movie and then I would have asked hey what order did I die in and then I would have probably tried to see if I could just end it myself because I would not want to die via ropgilberg death. 15:52 I don't know if the comic is Canon or not but apparently the bus driver who ran her over ended up getting fired and then ended up having his own final destination type scenario where instead of him dying in a situation instead he saw multiple other people died by a serial killer by the five senses.
ah man, this has been one of my favorite franchises since I was a kid. it’s definitely one of the most consistent, and it’s a shit ton of fun! absolutely check out the sequels, they get wilder as they go!
Its funny how now this is like comedy when it's horror/gore 😅 when this came out we were all freaking out waiting for signals 😂 I would freak out and thank god I got off that plane, thanking the guy aswell and leave right away to my house, i wouldn't think he made something at that moment because without it you wouldn't have gone out
Just Rewatched Saw franchise a while back. Is Tod the IA officer Matt Gibson from saw VII/3d. He also seems familiar to Proff in 2:36 Edit : Yep, he definetly is.
i believe FD 3 is the one with the logging truck so i’d recommend at least watching till that one. 😂 awesome reaction, it’s so fun watching you try (and sometimes uncannily succeed) at predicting things! love your channel.
How can you predict you will never relate ir care about the characters in the sequels? Different actors, different directors, etc., make each sequel unique in its own way.
hahaha the movie gets more dumb as it goes on... i remember my brother saying that back when it came out...in a way it reminds me of an 80s movie which was both crazy but made no sense called PULSE starring young joey lawrence about an alien entity using electricity to kill the homeowners haha 1988 i think...still a pretty intense flick though
When I first saw this film, I don't believe I had ever seen a story like it, so it was easy to invest myself in. I thought it was a clever high concept film that was well executed. 'What if you survived death but were supposed to die, so death came after you?' I wasn't really interested in watching the sequels, had no interest in seeing the same story again and again with more shocking deaths for sadistic thrills. I agree that the only character's death on the chain that they spend any film time mourning was Tod, and with some of the character deaths they were somewhat blase and lacked any tact. I also think though that was the choice of the writer or director - to keep the pace going, by having the characters we'd spent the least time getting to know die shockingly but unceremoniously. It wasn't meant to be taken too seriously, more like a teen slasher flick from the 80s rather than The Mist (2007).
Have you not seen any of the sequels? If not, I recommend you do. Also, I don't think they had much time to mourn the deaths. After the second person died, they had to worry about death coming after them instead on mourning
Yup, just like saw this movie was at the top of my list in elementary school simply because I wanted to see how creative they could get Honestly this gets better with age because it's so dramatically over-the-top and cheesy
I love all the films in this franchise except for 4, that one is horrendous except for the final 2 scenes of it. 4 was supposed to be the final one but it sucked so bad they tried to redeem the story with 5 XD
Too bad I thought all horror was gory and nightmare inducing back when. only horror i'd seen as a teenager was Saw II or Saw III, whenever that guys birthday was. final destination is just silly
What a terrible, terrible series - so much fun! And imo, yours is exactly the correct reaction - this is dumb, characters suck, but it's hilarious and they do a good job of "which horrific fate will befall this character? Is it the scissors? Is it the the razor?" etc. etc. with their stupid Rube-Goldberg death traps They get "worse", imo - but given that it starts as goofy silly fun, I don' think it matters very much =P looking forward to more
i will say it'sa nice franchise not the gorefest of SAW with background peppered in as you go but like saw some of the later films run together in my head but just wait til you complete it
If you ask me each Final Destination movie from 1-4 gets worse and worse as you go through them except for Final Destination 5 which is easily the best in the series
Yes! Definitely watch Candyman!🙌 At least the first Candyman and the last one written by Jordan Peele. The other parts are...well...mweh...not really good lol😁
