@@alinacarrasquillo34 exactly which is why they don't do what she believes that they do and she still has her freeze-ups every now and again, no pun intended. But yeah that's kind of the effect
@@OneAndOnlyZekePolaris yes, I believe the creators of Frozen named the main characters after Hans Christian Andersen, the author of the original story that inspired Frozen. (Hans, Kristoff, Anna, Sven)
I think its the usual "misunderstood prophecy" situation. He said she needs to learn to control it. The parents took that to mean control, as in not use it. Rather than control, as in to learn to wield it correctly.
Elsa's powers were representing her emotional turmoil. In the ice castle she was telling herself "don't feel" so it was fracturing and growing sharper and even with the storm it stopped because she broke down in grief after Hans told her Anna was dead. Every time she suppressed her powers they would just burst out stronger.
That is not why the ice castle was created since when she was making it she let go of suppression. Not suppressing it more. But everything else you said is right.
@@OneAndOnlyZekePolaris Oh I didn't mean that's why the ice castle was created, I just meant that it was fracturing because she was suppressing her powers again.
@@alinacarrasquillo34 But she wasn't, only when she was at the family castle she was. I mean look at her hands during the song. She was not suppressing it at all. She was released if anything. Trying to type the word I wanted to use but autocorrect keeps messinng with my typing...
What I like about Elsa's transformation is that it shows she's perfectly capable of controlling her powers. She was just so crippled by anxiety/insecurity due to her parents hammering it into her that she needs to hide her powers from everyone. As soon as she decided to just embrace herself she could do insane things with her magic and when she only loses control again when the anxiety comes back.
Nobody actually said that the active true love had to be true, loves kiss. The characters may have assumed that that was the case, and by extension made the audience believe that that was the case. But assumptions aren’t always correct.
The parents didn’t really do a great job of trying to help teach Elsa to learn to control her powers, but also, eventually, with enough time, hiding it away, became their idea of controlling it, and teaching her to prevent herself from using it even accidentally is controlling it, or was controlling it in their minds.
People often forget that this movie, technically actually takes place in the middle of summer for the majority of the film, and that is supposed to be relatively warm, or at least temperate like the way we see it during the outside scenes of the song “for the first time in forever". it’s only because of Elsa that it turns into winter weather.
Just a point for the beginning of the movie; before refrigerators, they used to harvest ice because it was a pretty luxurious commodity for people to purchase. Idk about the time period of this movie or when ice was being shipped a lot, but I assume that’s what’s happening here. No way to keep food cold other than to harvest ice and ship it.
Wow! How the heck did he not know that "Let It Go" is from Frozen??? Memes, parodies, cosplay, etc. It's been all over the web since the movie debuted. Let It Go was to the 2010's what Celine Dion was to the late 1990's & early 2000's: INESCAPABLE!!!!!!!! If you know, you know.
frozen is based on Norway and Norwegian culture. the city arendell is based of a Norwegian city named Arendal. when the man in the little hut talks about lutefisk hes talking about a Fish made a certain way thats Often assosiated with Norway.
I watched Frozen in theatres 3 times and each time, when Hans revealed himself, the whole theatre gasped or shouted or even got to their feet. The DRAMA. It was such a plot twist. I was telling my sister next to me the whole time that he was my new favorite Disney Prince, so heroic and noble and dorky...and then BOOM. Moral of the story? Never trust a ginger. haha
I always feel bad for Elsa. Anna resents her for something that their parents forced Else to do. They convinced Elsa she was dangerous to be around normal society. So much so that only in pure isolation does she feel safe to be a person. Their parents harmed their children so much.
*Thank* you! I understood that this movie takes place from Anna's point of view, but I feel like people forget that Elsa was also basically trapped in her room for all those years. At least Anna had the freedom to roam around the castle. And yeah, the psychological damage of believing you're a monster that will hurt everybody and needs to be caged essentially... poor Elsa.
Yes, basically they *_were_* just covering rather that learning to control. Because no one knew how to help teach her to control her powers. So they just hoped she would eventually figure it out; and in the meantime they kept everyone away for safety's sake. Also-- IMO they did not set up Hans properly as the twist villain, at all.
The reason they locked up in her room is because they were going to teach her when they got back from the trip, so she wasn't allowed to use her powers, but then they died
Before refrigeration in order to keep perishable food through the summer months, people would carve several large chunks of ice and store them insulated with hey, just like the guys are doing at the start of the movie.
Many people have questioned why there were cuffs seemingly made to block her powers ready for them to use its either a plot hole or her parents made them in case of emergency
i think it's more about her mindset than the handcuffs themselves, because we know that her powers are completely connected to her emotions and stuff, and Elsa THOUGHT the gloves were blocking her powers, so they did, but just because she FELT safe when she put them on. that's why she feels out of control without them, without the only thing she thinks could help her, ignoring the fact that she has always been capable to control her powers (she needed support and to have confidence and not all the fears and insecurities that her parents put in her head, which are what truly made her unable to "control" her powers)
I always thought the trolls were to blame for Elsa being hidden away most of her life. Their advice and smoke show made Elsa and her parents fear her powers even more after the trauma of Anna getting hurt by accident.
Fun fact, there is also a theory that Hans' betrayal of Anna was so illogical in the movie that it was actually the rock trolls that enchanted Hans to become evil so that Anna gets together with Kristoff. Until the betrayal, Hans actually seems like he genuinely cares for Anna even in scenes where he is alone and has no reason to do that. There is also a scrapped Ideas for frozen 2 involving a redemption of Hans.
@@OliverSierraW Then it is not a fun fact as that is not how you use the term, fun fact. A fun fact has nothing to do with what fans think as only fans can make up theories. Fun fact are true things related to the movie or a character and not a guess that could be wrong. Opinions are not facts.
Elsa's powers, from the moment she almost killed Anna, were tied to her emotions (especially negative ones) so the more afraid she became of them the worse it got. Before that moment, it was obvious she had a good deal of control over her magic. Afterward, you're right, they didn't try to help her control them or help her deal with what happened with Anna causing her fear of her powers to grow and she tried to suppress them. But like emotions, the more you try to suppress something the worse it gets and can explode at the worst possible time leaving you vulnerable
Plus the fear caused the more defensive and destructive powers. When she's building her castle or playing with Anna at the beginning her powers are softer but when she feels threatened her powers respond by becoming weapons
There is a theory about this movie, that Elsa's parents where going to Rapunzel's wedding when their ship sank, and also that Elsa's mom was pregnant at the time with a boy, and that boy was actually Tarzan.
Meh. I'm more willing to buy the one where Rapunzel and Elsa are twins. Elsa was shipped off after her sister was kidnapped, that's why the King hesitated when the troll asked if Elsa was born or cursed with the powers. He wasn't sure. Also explains why Elsa doesn't quite look like the rest of the family. I'm not willing to buy the 'Tarzan is Anna and Elsa's brother' theory. One Simple reason. The Framed Picture. It took Ages for a picture to be made back then. you had to stay still for a while, hence why not a lot of ppl are smiling in older photos. You can't tell me, there was any way, they were able to concieve, deliver, Take a Picture, FRAME the picture... all while on a rocky boat. At sea.
To answer your question about their ages, Elsa is 21 and Anna is 18. The second film takes place 3 years after the events of this movie so Elsa will be 24 and Anna will be 21 once you get to Frozen 2.
Rewatching it this time made me think about how she doesn't seem able to control her ice powers and then immediately after, builds an ice castle with intricate designs.
There's a few people in the comments who said that Hans being bad didn't make sense because he cared for her in the beginning, but I think it does make sense. He had to be nice to Anna and be nice when Anna wasn't around because if he becomes royalty by marriage, the people of Arendelle (probably misspelled) have to trust him. He was nice to everyone to gain their trust, plus I assumed if things went badly and Elsa and Anna were still alive and Hans didn’t get to interfere (his plan fails), then he would still have a good reputation (Anna and Elsa fixing things before he shows his evil side). His plan still failed in the movie, but if it went smoothly then the people would have believed that Elsa killed Anna and Elsa would have been killed/locked away or whatever they would do and Hans would be trusted to lead Arendelle. This is how I thought of it anyways. I just think it makes a better villain than the theory "Trolls used magic on Hans because they wanted a family member to get married." Everyone including the viewers believed he was good so I thought "manipulative villain" was done well. Edit: Forgot a letter in a word
Before you react to Frozen 2 you should do a mashup reaction with the TWO short films that happen in the timeline between movie 1 and 2, First short is 'Frozen fever" and 2nd "Olafs frozen adventure." combined they last like 26 mins .. the 1st short is about the 1st bday they spend together after the separation and the other short is about their 1st Xmas etc. They are cute and you can enjoy Frozen2 better if you know more content from in between the two movies timeline. Hope you do. Thanks
"Why do they need that much ice" two answers to that: one is food preservation. No refrigeration. they used ice back in the day. (rememebr that an old fridge was called 'icebox') ... past that, because they're the ones who sell the ice.
13:44 Well to be fair, especially back in the day it wasn't sure if kids would survive, as there wasn't medicine and wealth and food were more sparce. More likely for those that already had those things got more of it (power etc). So one way to ensure that couple could have children to take care of them at elder age (people didn't live that long as these days either). Plus as a way to ensure that their family/familyname would have heir/s at all, was to get many children. And back when I went to school, I heard that one of my teachers had 10 sisters. 😄 I actually have a relative who has 7 kids now, so... Some people get kid/s, some get many many kids, while some don't get any.
You should definitely watch Tangled if you haven’t already. Frozen, Moana, and Tangled are like the golden trio! Frozen and Tangled are often debated between which is better and people believe the two movies are connected.
No brother Iceland is full of grass and Greenland is full of ice and snow the Vikings change the name of the island so they can confuse any enemies because they would think iceman has just ice
Hans makes sense to me. Because if he knows he can be king by proxy by marrying Anna and getting rid of Elsa, why not start start getting in the good graces of the people early? If he's gotta ensure the chancellors trust him, he has to play the part. If he can get Elsa to get rid of the winter and then banish her for treason, he's gotta do it. People don't take kindly to a foreigner killing their monarch, so Hans needed to buy time at the very least. That's why he doesn't kill Elsa until he's convinced it's the best option. He's not worried about Anna, he's investing in the future.
A museum worker from a Nordic country here! 😊 Before refridgerators people in the North took ice just as it is depicted in the beginning and stored it in sawdust or other insulating material which kept the ice from melting throughout the summer. The Finnish word for a fridge is "ice cabinet" which comes from literally a cabinet with ice inside that you could then store milk and other food items in. The museum I work at has one of those saws on display and I always love to point it out to children and ask if they have seen Frozen. 😄
I think her parents should've been taking her to that mountain when she young so she could just let it go and get comfortable with her powers and have a lot of practice. If they did that, she would've been comfortable with her powers by now and it would've even been safe for the whole kingdom to know about her powers.
so there's this theory that the trolls is bad and hans is actually a good guy. but when elsa's been caught, hans who is on his way back to arendelle met the trolls. they then messed up his minds and make him the bad guy (because they want kristoff to be with anna, and hans is "on their way"). and i stand with this theory.
I just wanted to say to you that elsa didnt know how to use her powers and obviously her dad didn't even try to teach her. And that's why she couldn't stop the winter. But now she knows how to use them. I hope now you understand what happened
Theres a theory that Elsa made the sword that Hans was going to use to kill her. Based on the facts that Hans didnt have a sword with him, Elsa has made real inanimated objects, including life, and that the sword broke against ice.
don has got to have watched these movies when he was young aint no way bro hasnt seen cars, frozen, zootopia and more og movies that came out years ago
I softened up on this movie over time. Was definitely on the “I’m annoyed train” initially, but I respect the heart Frozen has and why so many love it.
