I think this is the first time I've seen anyone make a connection of Nick playing with Charlie's hair vs Imogen playing with Nick's hair because they like each of them respectively. That's a really interesting observation and I agree. It's definitely a parallel to show yet another detail about Nick's feelings for Charlie.
You as 9 out of 10 reactors miss one of my top 5 moments in this season which is in this episode. When Charlie comes into the art room and says hi to Nick, Nick says “I missed you.” Just makes me so happy. 😊
Charlie was Ben's dirty secret relationship but now is Nick's cute secret relationship. Nick is confused about everything except the fact that he wants to be with Charlie and just needs time to process it 🙂
Charlie launching into his sorry speech at the start just shows how much Ben has had an appalling influence on Charlie. Charlie feels he has to apologize to Nick for kissing him, as most likely Ben would demand this apology from Charlie if it happened to them. Just look in the eyes of Nick as soon as Charlie says he is sorry for kissing him, you can see Nick doesn't want Charlie to say this at all.
i love that you are acknowledging that what is going on between nick and charlie is way different than what happened between ben and charlie. a lot of reactors say otherwise just because nick isn't ready to be public yet.
It's a totally different scenario, for sure! You'll never catch me shaming anyone for not being ready to be out, it's all about how you go about it and your intentions!
I'm pretty sure that in a game like rugby if someone is down injured the game stops while they're helped and the players aren't allowed to go near them. And I really like your reactions to this delightful show. Really liked the return to the familiar, too. I haven't heard that before from a reactor. The only thing I'm going to say is trust the author.
As for the whole “fellas is it gay to care about your friend” thing (Which by the way is hilarious) While I understand what the show is doing. Showing the gay panic of “now that I know I like this boy I can’t not see all our interactions through this lens, and I can’t tell what’s obvious to other people but it feels like everything will tip people off” But I much prefer the comic version of Charlie getting hurt where nick just acts EXACTLY the same as before they kissed and rushes up to Charlie’s side panicking and picks him up and basically carries Charlie to the nurse’s office. It’s very sweet. But they had to add more angst and drama for the sake of being an engaging tv show. (For example: Imogen doesn’t even exist in the comics. That whole plot line was added for the sake of tv drama) But I LOVE the show. And the changes are still fun to watch
I love how in the book, in the nurses office, Charlie is a little nervous about not keeping it a secret. Nick reassures him and says that they are not doing anything different from before "apart from doing stuff like this" and plants a bunch of kisses on him.
@@LeightonReacts I definitely recommend the books, but be prepared for a lot of changes and a lot less drama. I'm so glad I read the books, but I'm waiting until season 2 comes out to read any more.
I absolutely adore your reactions Leighton! "Heartstopper" is pretty-much my favourite show ever. I wish it was around when I was in my teens. I'm a 54yo gay guy. I've had a partner for 23 years and have a very happy life. However, a show like this would have made my life much easier (and made me feel more "normal"!) back when I was a teen in the 80's. I was very much like Charlie back then. I'm so glad a show like this exists now. I watch a lot of reaction videos and some annoy me as they are full of silly video clips that are nothing to do with the subject and they keep interrupting the flow of the video. You come across as genuine and "real" in your videos. I really enjoy your commentary. Give Snitch a pat from me! I'm 57 and I agree with you. I love this show. I'm, weirdly, obsessed with all things "Heartstopper"... the graphic novels, the novels that spawned the graphic novels and came after, the actors, the history of all characters, blah, blah, blah. I really do wish we had this when we were that age. I mean... wouldn't we ALL love to have a Nick Nelson in our lives in our sophomore year in high school?

I'm in my late twenties and also wish the show came out much earlier. This is the first show I've watched that is unapologetically gay without the major heartbreaks and tragedies. Don't get me wrong, it's important to show those stories too but if we can have cheesy straight romance on screen, we can also have an LGBT+ equivalent. I feel so happy for the new generation of teens and young adults. The hard work of activists and community leaders from the past is finally paying off and people can feel comfortable coming out and creating relationships at a younger age. So happy that you met your true love. I hope its my turn soon

Yeah, I agree. I think it is not only about hurting her feelings but also like embarrassing her in front of everyone, I can imagine Harry would really be an ass to Imogen had Nick rejected her there. Had she asked him somewhere private, he'd be more comfortable with saying no to her.
@@LeightonReacts To me, it just really shows that Nick genuinely cares about other people emotions (at least Imogen's, which makes sense, since they've been friends for so long). Nick is such an adorable character!
something i like about heartstopper is, we are so used to drama and trauma taking center stage in our love stories that when heartstopper chooses to take a left turn from what we expect, the 'drama' becomes us getting stressed things surely have to get worse. it cant stay good, if it stays good then the bad has to come, bad is coming but when. we just don't know because heartstopper keeps weaving and ducking when we don't expect. even if/when things do go to shit its going to be interesting to see how it navigates those rough waters.
That's exactly what I love about this series! Realistic drama rather than contrived, and queer joy instead of heartbreak! And it proves we can have that and still have a magnificent story!
One of the many things I love about Heartstopper is how when you think the story is going one way (based on previous gay stories and movies tropes) Alice takes it another way. She really does solve problems and issues quickly so they don't drag out too long. Season 2 and Season 3 has been given the green light. Expecting Season 2 this summer (hopefully). There are 4 books that this is based on and season 1 encompasses book 1 and 2.

Aled, the character, is AroAce and Isaac is put in there to replace Aled. We may see more of Isaac's story in the next couple of seasons. I absolutely adore Isaac. :)

I'm an old school gay and since the kiss didn't go as I knew it would (no actual kiss, drama with the lads, sadness, 3 episodes to get them back together) then I knew that the date with Imogen was what would bring us to that sad turn. I was pretty sure the next several episodes would have them apart. Then someone totally unexpected like Tao or Imogen would have an epiphany and work to bring them back together.

At 7:18 if you watch this little bit back properly, Joe said you will see that he doesn't put on his shoe properly in the rush to get out the door. Joe said not many people see it, but some have that one of his shoes doesn't fit properly on his feet, and would certainly make his feet wet when he runs out in the rain.
I hadn't read the books, but it was obvious from Ms Singh's "Gay people are good at sports" comment that she's also gay, but no reactors seem to pick up on it 🤷🏼♀️
