They finished filming the second one a few months ago and it’s slated for an October 2025 release. A lot more characters are expected to be in it too. I’m hype!!!
@@zumair6957yep. The sequel is coming out and I like the characters they added to the cast this time. We’ll see Shao Kahn, Sindel, Kitana, Jade, Baraka, King Jarred and Quan Chi.
Something I want to mention is that Jax only looses his arms because of sub zero in this movie, in the games they get ripped off by ermac, a character with telekinesis
He looses his arms specifically in the second timeline by Ermac. In the original timeline he didn't loose them but instead willingly got them replaced.
One of the dumbest things is the whole “chosen” aspect. Like Raiden is like “Sonya, I know you are an amazing fighter. However you didn’t kill some random other person so you can’t fight. However this other guy got drunk and ran over a champion killing him, so he is now a chosen fighter.”
I mean it works like an invitation. You can be the funnest person you know but if you don’t get invited to the party anyways what does it matter. It’s not that crazy. Kill someone with an invite to earn one of your own
Please also watch the old movies! Yes they are cheesy by today's standards, but they opened the world to video game adaptions into films. They MADE it a thing and they are worth watching!
I seen the original one back in 95, my first ever movie theater experience with my cousin. Then saw this movie once covid restrictions were lifted in theaters in the US. Can’t wait for the MK2.
Oh… one last thing. Nitara, the vampire looking chick is from Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance. Reiko, the big dude with the hammer is from Mortal Kombat 4. These characters are among the less popular but they still have a surprisingly cult following among their fans.
Cool to know. I once upon a time spend countless hours on my SNES just beating Mortal Kombat 2. I recently got Mortal Kombat 11 cheaply on my Xbox but I haven't had proper time to play it so I was bit lost some characters (well anyone not in MK2 :) )
That hype Seb has is exactly how hype I was watching this film lol also I like the story being told thru a new character because the different perspective. And also him being Scorpion’s descendent.
You watching this movie is basically how I was watching Sonic the Hedgehog 2. When you have a deep seeded love of something you grew up with, it just feels so insanely gratifying and entertaining to see it brought to life so well on the big screen. Do not apologise for enjoying a movie in that way.
I think them noting that sub zero was talking to the Hasashi’s in Japanese at the start was to show his intelligence cuz his clan is Chinese so it’s like this mf knows our language too, he’s a threat threat
Jesus Christ loves you 💙 He has a plan and a purpose for your life, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jesus Christ loves you 💙
Joe Taslim's Sub Zero, I want that for MK1, I want this Sub Zero in the damn game and then I'll be happy lol he's basically as evil in the movie as he eventually becomes in the game too.
Lewis Tan's character, Cole is completely original for the movie, and he honestly feels too generic. Nitara is a vampire character who first appeared in MK: Deadly Alliance, Reiko was introduced in MK 4, both characters reappear in the latest game Mortal Kombat 1, Nitara is voiced by megan fox and not very good at all.
Bro i remember watching the first mortal kombat movie for the first time back in the days.. Goofy af, that's for sure, but every time the mortal kombat theme starts playing, i just got up pretending im fighting someone lmao
I highly recommend reacting to the Saban's Power Rangers Movie from 2017. staring Ludi Lin who played Liu Kang in live-action Mortal Komat , Dacre Montgomery who played Billy in stranger things, Naomi Scott who played Jasmine in the live-action Aladdin movie, Bryan Cranston who played Walter White in Breaking Bad, and Elisabeth Banks who played Effie Trinket in The Hunger Games.
Hiroyuki Sanada is the actor who plays Scorpion. He mostly plays 'samurai' type parts in a wide range of movie genres. Movies he's been in that you may have seen include 'Avengers: Endgame' (japanese mob boss fighting Hawkeye/Ronin in Japan), 'The Last Samurai' (samurai who first hates then warms to Tom Cruise's character) and 'The Wolverine' (fights Logan with samurai swords in the japanese home). He's also in the current FX/Disney+ show 'Shogun'.
I love this movie!! I've never played the games but you could still feel how much of an homage it was. I wish more of my friends had watched it, I was the only one hyped. Definitely looking forward to the sequel!!
Also second info comment. Hanzo is the human form of scorpion. In the lore he comes home to find his family dead and sub zero didnt spare him either. However, (this part might have changed or it may just not have been revealed yet revealed) he came back to life as a spectre for quan chi. So he became a force from the netherrealm (the equivalent of hell) and basically thats when he got fire powers. He is still technically dead bc he is a spectre but also alive. Thats how he became scorpion.
And out of all of the characters in the movie, I loved Kung Lao the most. His costume, his personality, his fighting style and fatalities are all very lore accurate and the actor even kind of looks like the character. Plus, his musical theme is sick too. But I also have to give credit to Kabal too. His costume and mask is so dope looking. Dude looks like a straight up badass. They got his superhuman speed correct and his hookswords is cool too!
Seb I reacted the same as you in the theaters when I saw this movie. I to grew up playing all the mortal games. This was literally a homage to the hardcore fans. 2025 next year Mortal Kombat 2 is coming out it was confirmed last week.
Your too funny loved the reaction and when you started laughing I couldn't stop laughing too. It was the power of childhood memories. The same feeling that Star Wars fans got when the latest films came out. Glad you liked.👍
Putting the language in brackets in the closed captioning is for people who have hearing issues (perhaps even deaf people). They can't hear that they're speaking in Japanese as they read the English subtitles. So, without the "[Japanese]" in the closed captioning, they would have no idea the characters weren't actually speaking English. It helps them pick up on more of the movie's details and character
Hiroyuki Sanada is one of the best actors of our generation and i don't even care. He is born to play such a role (Samurai). Most of his roles are like this and i love it. Top tier cast not only for Scorpion, but same goes for Sub-Zero, Jax, Milena and Kano. Kano was phenomenal performance btw. Mortal Kombat 2 is in the making also, so i hope they show us Kitana and Shao Khan. The movie is definetly good and i enjoyed it a lot.
The original mortal combat is done as an actual tournament, the woman they had for Sonya is beautiful, but it’s painfully obvious she doesn’t even know how to punch right. But I think you’d love some of the fights, particularly the one against Goru. They put out a second that brought in the others, got a woman who knows how to fight for Sonya, and Raiden is replaced too. The second one is great for some of the fights & is against the emperor. The music from the first movie though? SO good! You should check out the soundtrack for that :) Great reaction!
The sequel is in post-production, with filming completed (re-shoots may likely follow); it is to be released October 2025. New characters include, Shao Khan, Sindel, King Jerrod, Kitana, Jade, Noob Saibot, Quan Chi, and Johnny Cage (played by Karl Urban, which doesn't seem like quite the right fit to many people). Plus a number of the characters who died in this one are returning.
You really should watch the cutscenes from Mortal Kombat 9, X, 11, and MK1. They are all linked as one big story and tells how many of these characters know each other. For example Kabal, Kano, and Erron Black (not in the movie) were all part of Black Dragon (Underworld crime syndicate) together.
30:38 In the latest game (Mortal Kombat 1) Liu Kang becomes the new Raiden as in like the protector of Earth and Raiden becomes a competitor/student of the tournament. To simplify they both just switch places.
Oh dude Seb. I highly highly recommend even just watching the MK 9 - 1 cutscenes. Even just on your own time, but I definitely think it could even be seen as a movie, each game. Personally I know I’d watch you reacting to them, that would be a fun time for sure but yea you should definitely watch them at some point!
What a plot twist! I was expecting seb to release his movie reaction of pacific rim uprising before this (he made a post of his opinion on uprising a day ago and because of that i didn't expect him to release anything else before that)
You were not overreacting I was the same way. Playing games sense I was a kid, watching both mk movies. I was going crazy over this movie. It's amazingly hype worthy
Here’s a couple of fun facts: - Cole Young (Scorpion’s descendant) is a completely original character. -The actor playing as Scorpion, Hiroyuki Sanada previously played in Rush Hour 3
The main characters ability is literally plot armor. And if you didn't recognize Scorpion, he is the same actor that played the Grandpa in Bullet Train. He was also in the show that just ended by the name of Shogun which is also worth a watch.
Cole Young (protagonist) was supposed to be an audience surrogate and was a studio invention and the (Mortal Kombat fan) directors and producers and cast had no say in his inclusion.
Mortal Kombat 2 comes out October 24 2025 so excited for it and see all the new characters like Johnny, Sindel, Kitana, Jade Shao Khan, and Noob Saibot
You should do the mission impossible series but the first 2 movies are bad the 3rd one is meh and the 4,5,6,7th movies are amazing, I think it would improve your monthly viewers!
I remember my wife and I enjoyed this, but I also remember a lot of people nitpicking this movie. It was good to see a fan actually enjoy the hard work id artisans as if they could do better.
They were only brothers in the recent one cuz of the time rewrite, in the old one they were from rival tribes. I think its was quan chi pretending to be sub zero when he attacked or he gave the order. Their was two sub zeros one was bi-han the other was Quai Liang they are brothers one become noob saibot after death though they both thought different while Bi-han was greedy for power Quai Liang was humble and honorable.
You keep saying it's so well done, but it isn't. It's widely hated by the fanbase. This movie sucked so bad, the 90s version is better. Cole Young is the dumbest most pointless character in existence. They completely screwed up the story and lore of Mortal Kombat. The tattoos and the arcana bs are so lame. Pretty much nothing in this movie has anything to do with the games story. The original script was a generic action movie they changed to have vague Mortal Kombat characters in it, so that's when you know it's going to bad... it wasn't even meant to be Mortal Kombat.
Don't count kano out just yet, I suspect that shang tsung will revive his fallen warriors including kano. With the exception perhaps of goro. As they may introduce sheeva or kintaro instead a shokan type opponent.
One of my favorite parts of the movie is the soundtrack. I’ve heard it countless times and never get bored. The Techno Syndrome theme is played almost all the time and I love how consistent it is. But the music also has hints of IT chapters 1 and 2, The Invisible Man and Hellboy in the mix too. With the sequel coming out next year, hopefully Benjamin Wallfisch can do the music again. He’s one of my favorite all time composers!
Cole actor is in one of the best fighting tv shows call Into the badlands and you can see that he is just a pretty face. And yje all Cole plot thing doesnt add nothing. Kano and Sonya were good, specially how funny Kano was. we can thanks that to Trevor Goddard, who was the first Kano in Mortal Kombat 1995, which most of the Kano characters got inspired. The rest of the cast, were decent enough... Fighting scenes some were amazing, some were ok... lets see what they will do in the sequel
