You SAY a little more plot...but I cut at least an hour from the movie. You missed most of the love story between the hedgehog and poodle PLUS several musical numbers...and MORE...😉
This movie is different thats for sure. Some like it but never heard anyone say they hated it. Sebastians song and Heidis rampage at the end is really the highlight. Also did you notice many of the music cues in some scenes are the same as in Braindead. I think you'll enjoy Bad Taste more even though it was made with shoestring budget filming mostly on weekends for 4 years. Some suggestions Evil Dead 2 (1987), Re-Animator (985)
There's another shoestring budget film that I LOVE which was also shot over a long time, five years, on mostly weekends. That's called Alice, Sweet Alice AKA Communion. I didn't notice the music cues! Thanks for pointing that out. Your suggestions are great. I've seen them both but not for a long time. I took part of this channel's name from Re-Animator!😁
@@reactormator yeah figured that out, i'll try to think of something more less known/obsucure/underground movies you might have not seen and post later :)
This film if you take the grossness out is shockingly relatable, Heidi Hippo reminded me of my younger self when i was in a toxic relationship and it ended in betrayal. although i didn't grab a machine gun and blast everyone away. lol all and all this was a favorite of mine Peter Jackson can be very open in his creativity just as much as John Waters was with his earlier films. like pink flamingo, desperate living, female trouble, and others.
He's very cheeky and SO accomplished. The animated offal and that half head sliding around! Incredibly well done. Also the best smash-cuts I've ever seen! His technical prowess is simply unmatched regardless of genre.
Nice reaction. Not enough people know about Peter Jackson's roots. This is actually my second favorite of his works after "Bad Taste". Interestingly, I actually find "Dead Alive" to be a bit of a drag, even though I love it as well. As someone else already commented, "Bad Taste" is extremely low budget and it mostly picks up the pace towards the end. The plot in it is minimal and the film mostly relies on its humor and gore effects, which it does to great effect though in my opinion.
Happy to see more people are finding this Jackson Gem. I've been obsessed with the film since 2018 and wrote a sequel series to it. Wrote 39 episodes for its first run and developing more. I have a large cast and crew on it and it'll be made an audio comic. I'm also hosting a redub of the original film which is slowly coming together 😁 If you'd like to hear more, reply here 😊
