I know this film catches a lot of criticism, but I've always thought it was a great sequel. Danny Glover might seem like an odd choice for the protagonist in a Predator film, but he beat the Predator in a one-on-one fight, without trickery, which is something Arnold couldn't pull off in the first film.

I don't understand why many people don't like this movie. I think it's the perfect sequel: - New setting (another jungle would've been repetitive) - New weapons and technology (though we already know a predator, we still have stuff to see) - More about the predator's culture and behaviour - A different hunting technique where he chose his game and then made pressure on him psychologically - A cross-over with another one of the most popular sci-fi horror series - Something to think about at the end (the gun) What else did we need?

I don't know why this Movie gets the flack that it does, it's amazing. Danny Glover was awesome. Gary Busey is in all of his glory, and I love the City Hunter version of the Alien itself. Won't even mention the Fan Service moment that drove people crazy in the Theater. Great Sequel.

Fun Fact: El Scorpion in the beginning of this movie was the same actor that jumped into the truck Arnie let loose and blew up in the first Predator.

A lot of people don't realize this, but the "Peter Keyes" character was originally supposed to be Arnold. Arnold wasn't really interested. He didn't think Predator would work outside of the jungle environment. Also, money. He was too big at the time.

Never understood why Danny Glover didn't stab the predator with the spear on top of the building. Instead just body blocked him.

I think the chest bursting has more to do with what happened to Blaine than with what happened to Kane...but I could be wrong. Even being a sexual Tyranosaur can't help when there's an 8ft invisible safari dude about.

I don't know if it's your recording equipment or what, but there's a wierd warbling sound every now and them that is completely overtaking the audio. It's not in the movie, I've watched it many times and that "Audi glitch" for lack of a better word, isn't supposed to be there.

"Want some candy," is one of the most horrifying thing that was so perfectly used in the movie. It's amazing.

Predator 2 got a lot of 💩 at the time, but compared to the sequels that came afterwards this movie is a Masterpiece! 🏆Bill Paxton (R.I.P) and Danny Glover are always a win 🎯

The creator of "these creatures" is the one and only, Stan Winston. He did work on Jurassic Park, Aliens, Terminator, Predator and Edward Scissorahands to mention a few.

The predator in the first film was not a less experienced predator. He was more experienced, taking fewer weapons into battle and hunting alone. The predator in THIS film is the one undergoing a rite of passage, which is why his tribe is present to witness his performance. Also it's why he kills more prey (he'll take anyone with a weapon where as the original only took trophies from the most skilled warriors) and has more weapons. They are crutches which he will need to rely on until he gets more capable. Well, if he survived.

This is such a BADASS sequel! Love it! Los Angeles 1997. The Predator comes to town, picking off Drug lords in the City of Angels. Arnold Schwarzenegger was gonna come back, but didn't like the script as the film took place in the city and not the jungle. Patrick Swayze was considered for the lead, and Steven Seagal WAS Gonna be in the movie. However, Director Stephen Hopkins realized that he was a nut job and cast Glover instead.

This movie basically set up Alien v Predator, on the trophy wall you see an Alien Xenomorph skull - as well as another Predator skull

King Willy was only on the screen for a few minutes but damn did he get the best death in the movie 🤣🤣

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Predator is a great movie. Predator 2 is a great Predator movie.

The weapon the predator gave is not a trophy collected from someone he killed. That pistol is from a man from 17th century that fought alongside that predator and died after getting wo7nded. He was a pirate that searched treassure and encountered the predator that started killing his crew of pirates, but his crew betrayed him and wanted to keep the treassure to themselves. The predator assisted him to kill his crew but in the battle raphael adolini was wounded fataly.When dying he gave the pistol to that predator as a sighn of respect. The predator buried him in mutual respect. He gave the pistol to harrigan because for predators killing one of their own being so inferior is considered very honorable and respectfull. Yautja aka the race of the predators live by a morale code. Yes they hunt for sport to perfect their skills (which will be shown in next 2010 movie). But they have code of honor to give someone that showed spirit of a warrior a fair chance of fight. Hence why predator gave Arnold a fair fight even though he could have killed him with ease. He gave Arnold a fair chance to fight because in his eyes Arnold showed great skills of a warrior that earned predators respect and he went toe to toe with him. Those types of warriors are considered as a great trophies when a predator is able to kill them.They fight with honor even if it could cost their lives.

R.I.P Paxman, died to an Alien, a Predator, and the Terminator

I’m going to take a wild guess that Mrs Movies is a nurse or doctor. When Danny glover gets up covered in ash after an he narrowly escaped being vaporized by an alien craft launching in a subway tunnel and her first thought was “someone’s going to have to irrigate all those wounds”😂🤣. I loved the childlike look of realization in her eyes when she saw the xenomorph trophy skull.🙌

This was the first film to receive an NC17 rating for the strong graphic violence and over 20 minutes was cut from the movie.

The subway massacre scene is one of the best killing scenes in ALL of the Aliens and Predator series.

You know, The Predator 2018 actually does have a bit of a connection to the first AVP film. When they're at the laboratory walking through the hall and you see those display cases with all the masks and weapons of the Predators from the previous films, there's one display case that has the spear that the Scar Predator made for Lex Woods in the first AVP.

27:05, that's right, he won the fight. They realize that humans are a worthy opponent, like Dutch in the first film. He survived after defeating the Predator. Yet his story became legendary, as Keyes was obsessed with happened to him after he escaped from an Army Hospital. Dutch made an appearance in the Predator: Hunting Grounds video game.

When Predator said "Want some candy?" that was his way of trying to offer a truce to Bill Paxton's character because the kid who said it to him was showing a peace offering when offering him candy, but Bill who had just shot at him, threw the golf ball which lead Predator to think he was a continued threat.

Fun fact, there was a female human who gained the respect of the Yautja race, becoming a member of their society for many years. It's never said that she outright mated with a male predator, but it is HEAVILY implied that many Yautja males found her sexually arousing, despite being almost the opposite of the females in their species.

It's so great to see Danny Glover play the crazy cop.

Yeah, when Jerry confronted the city predator he was still Cloaked and so he could only make out the outline because of the distortion when harrigan confronts the predator his cloak is down so Harrigan can see him and knows where to shoot center mass.

Predator: Central America jungle Predator 2: Concrete Jungle

The Xenomorph skull is probably my favorite movie easter egg of all time. When I saw this in the theater I was like HELL YEAH! Too bad I waited 20 years for AVP to be such a bad film.

The most jolting part ( don't say Gary's teeth) was the near-future aspect that had a surreal quality. It had a light Robocop vibe as in that entire setting was a bit comedic and possibly satirical. The original Predator was not realistic , it had a hyper 1980s action movie feel but it was one we were familiar with and it omitted lots of real world details. The original felt like a real world dialed to 11 but Predator2 seemed like it was in on the joke and intentionally fictional and it kept coming with it's opening action scene , police station. LA underworld ruled by Rastafarians? Everything about the film seemed peculiar and that's OK but unexpected. The comedic Spielbergian scene with old lady with the broom 🧹 or the surreal fight on the UFO. I've grown to appreciate it more but at the time I thought it was going to be a bit like an action film that would superficially be like 'Colors' meets 'The Hidden' with crime scenes and detective tropes and gritty Urban environments. Instead it has this graphic novel quality and maybe it's a RoboCop homage? I like it more now that I accept what it is.

The only reason he didn't hit his mark in the train is because he was hitting the shoulders and outer areas. Danny was hitting center mass. No armor.

In Predator society you're only as good as your last hunt or battle. Since one of their kind was defeated ten years before, they upgrade their weaponry & armor accordingly.

Don't forget the Predator's most famous weapon, "a shoulder thing that goes up."

I'm pretty sure the reason the other bullets had no effect was because they were shooting from handguns of both the revolver and automatic kind using 9mm or maybe 40 caliber rounds from around a train car distance. Danny Glover had what seemed to be some kind of exploding shotgun shells at almost point blank range. As in everything, size matters.

I know that it is politically incorrect to say this, but I miss the explicit violence in the cinema of the big studios in the 90s, today you no longer see this level of violence in the cinema of the big studios, only in the independent cinema perhaps.

There is a novel for Predator 3, and Dutch and Glover's character are teamed up there. The action takes place in an unexpected location compared to that from the first and the second movie, there are also a lot of references. I wish that movie existed.

That flintlock reward indicates that Earth has been their hunting ground for the past century (?). I personally want the boomerang disc! 😄

By the way...those special agents...they work for "The Company"...Weyland...(ALIEN). And another fun fact...the androids from Alien, they are made by the Tyrell Corp. (BLADE RUNNER- 1982), you should watch that one as well. So all this movies are part of the same universe hehe...😉 cool.

Min 27:12... the Predator gives him a gun with the inscription Raphael Adolini... He was a pirate and the captain of a pirate galleon. In 1718, whilst in search of lost treasure off of the Guinea Coast, Africa, Adolini and his crew encountered a Predator that slaughtered many of the crew.The reason Glover's character is given the pistol at the end of Predator 2 is because the screenwriters wanted to set a prequel and needed to include something that established that the Predator was on Earth for centuries.I would like to see that movie.

26:44 that was the most bad ass moment in the movie, and one of the most bad ass lines in the franchise-- my dude fights the Predator throughout the last 2 quarters of the film, across Los Angeles, going through tunnels, warehouses and roof tops-- then fights this thing in it’s own ship, and then-- only after killing it in what’s basically the Predator’s living room, he looks all of them dead in the face, without flinching and says “Okay, who’s next?”-- EFFIN Badass! ❤

I find Predator 1 to be structurally a better movie, but I find Predator 2 to be more fun and the one I rewatch all the time. Predators and The Predator may as well not exist. There is a tiny reference to the first AvP in The Predator, though. I don't know if it's important enough to change the order you watch them in, but it's something to keep in mind.

Predator 2 is my third favorite, losing to Predator and Predators. My favorite Predator weapon is the Gauntlet knives he wears on his right arm. 19:52 He was not bulletproof on the subway. When you are panicking, with the lights are flashing that fast, the ground is moving under you and your target looks like glass, your accuracy with a handgun is bad, miss a 7 foot tall target bad. (I know of a story where a cop fired 15 rounds at an armed criminal in a hotel hallway and out of these 15 rounds only 2 hit him.) Fun fact: at 26:44 Danny Glover is on his knees there to make him look smaller because they could not find that many 7 foot guys that were willing to get into those suits. Also Bill Paxton is the only actor that has died at the hands of the Predator, the Alien and the Terminator. R.I.P Bill Paxton 1955 - 2017 And Kevin Peter Hall 1955 - 1991 They actually wanted Arnold for the film but I think he was shooting Total Recall at the time, or was it Terminator 2 one of those.

Have to point out. This is a futuristic 1997. Pretty sure it was made in 91 or 92. Don't get me wrong I like the City Hunter. But he's definitely a f%@& up. Had Glover lost him at the end. His life was already forfeit. Not only did he flee. He lost his smart disk. Which is a huge no no. Actually with her on that. And I love pt 1. It's only crime is not having Arnold. But unlike other franchises. Predator doesn't need to be tethered to a specific actor.

Hard to believe a brief snippet in this film spawned the whole AvP franchise. Like with Terminator and Aliens, I prefer to think of Predator as only being two movies lol.

I have a movie it’s called the wild bunch (1969) directed by Sam peckinpah it’s a western film that isn’t your typical western fantasy film where the good guy kills the bad guy and it’s the end no it’s more like this (good) I shot you your dead (reality) no you missed I shot you your dead (good) but I shot you first . The movie was controversial when it first came out it was considered controversial for of its graphic violence and the betrayal of raw men . you’ll be surprised what kind of movie this is because it feature of the greatest and bloodiest shootouts in cinema history . The movie is about a gang of outlaws who professional robbers and killers who are the type who will survive by any means available . Instead of being a typical western where they tape place in 1880s or 1890s The movie takes place in 1913 a year before World War One where the days of outlaws are closing fast . The movie take place during the Mexican revolution . Also the guns they used weren’t all the traditional weapons used in other western since it was a new era they used new weapons like the 1911 pistol and pump action shotguns . That’s all I can tell you because I want you to have the experience I felt and it was one of the greatest movies of all time also this movie is in the category of one of the greatest films in cinematic history . I highly recommend this movie ( the wild bunch 1969 directors cut ) the movie is available on hbo max but there are ways to watch this film . I hope you check it out.
