I mean, the only info we get about the Darksaber was that it was created "over a thousand years ago." according to Sabine Which when you consider that Revan's wars against the Mandalorians was about 4,000 years ago, I'm not sure it counts as "long before their many wars"

I don't think it was created by the Mandalorians, if I'm not mistaken it was a relic from the jedis and the mandalorians stole it from a raided Jedi temple.

@@dernwine Well it might have been created long after the wars of Mandalore the Indomitable and Mandalore the Ultimate. I'd estimate Tarre Vizsla became a Jedi and built the Darksaber a few years after Revan's fight against them, but it was definitely built ages before Shae Vizla sacked the temple during Darth Malgus's raid. I bet she stole it considering the Vizsla lineage that the sword has held onto.

I am currently watching all Star Wars from start to finish. I have seen the films before but not the TV shows. I am now on Series 6 of The Clone Wars. Should I watch Series 7 before moving on to Episode 3 of the films, or does it take place in another time period? I ask because obviously the 2020 Clone Wars series was made years after the first ones were completed and series 7 seems to be lining Ahsoka up for appearing in the Mandalorian Season 2.

HOW YOU CAN NOT KNOW THIS ? IT IS LIKE THE ONLY UNIQUE WEAPON IN THE STAR WARS !!! "Legend tells that it was created over a thousand years ago by Tarre Vizsla, the first Mandalorian ever inducted into the Jedi Order. After his passing, the Jedi kept the saber in their temple. That was until members of House Vizsla snuck in and liberated it. They used the saber to unify the people and strike down those who would oppose them. At one time, they ruled all of Mandalore wielding this blade. This saber is an important symbol to that house and respected by the other clans." Later on, Darth Maul won it in a duel with Vizsla and ruled Mandalor. It remained in his possession in abandoned Nightsister lair until the events of the "Star Wars: Rebels" . Sabin Wren recovered it and trained with it under the tutelage of Jedi Knight Kanan Jarrus (Caleb Dume). After siege of Mandalor, Sabine gave the Darksaber over to Bo-Katan Kryze, whom she deemed to be the rightful person to lead the Mandalorians against the Empire. And now it is here... Let's see how it plays out...

So one thing nobody's mentioned is Cara's origin: her being from Alderaan meant her home planet and family must have been obliterated by the Empire. Hence her immediately joining Mando when he mentioned his enemy was Imperial last episode.

@@Pinkielover up to a point.. According to Jewish tradition, if your mother is Jewish, you are born a Jew, whereas you're not born a Christian but become one upon baptism. In that sense all mandalorians (the race) are mandalorians, but not all mandalorians are born on Mandalore

Though you have to distinguish between the attack on Mando's (Din Djarin's) home planet and the attack on the Mandalorians. Mando's planet was attacked by Battle Droids of the *CIS,* so presumably still during the Clone Wars. The Mandalorians as a whole were attacked and largely wiped out by the *Empire,* so a few years up to a over a decade *after* the Clone Wars. This imperial attack (or more like genocide) was the "Great Purge" the Mandalorians and Moff Gideon talked about. So Moff Gideon is responsible (or was in charge at least) of the Mandalorian's almost-extinction, but he was not involved in the attack on Mando's village and the deaths of his parents.

That Darksaber that Moff Gideon wields is basically the Excalibur of Mandalore. Whomsoever wields the sword should be seen as ruler of Mandalore, so there's definitely some serious setup for Gideon vs Din in Season 2.

The Mandalorians That were in the tunnels are dead. They “revealed themselves” in episode 3 to help Mando escape and the Empire exterminated them (or some fled).

The smith is what I would call a Strong female character, which has a story, background (the little we knew) and a bad-ass character. Clearly this proves that Jon Favrou and Dave Filoni are much better in creating strong female characters that are likeable than what Kathleen Kennedy can do in five lifetimes!

That, my friend, is the Dark Saber, and its history is told in The Clone Wars and Rebels cartoons -- it is intricately tied into the backstory of the Mandalorians and their relationship to the Jedi. How Moff Gideon got it is a mystery, and we fans are eagerly awaiting Season 2 to see if it is revealed.

Two points of trivia for you: First off, the Armorer's talk about Mandalore the Great's conflicts against the Jedi is a reference to the Knights of the Old Republic video game (ie the best Star Wars game ever made), and how Revan and Malak defied the Jedi Council to fight back against the Mandalorians' attempted conquest of the galaxy. Second, a lot of the stormtrooper extras in the show are actually members of the 501st Legion, a Star Wars fan/cosplay group.

@@Ally5141 No it certainly is not, at least not yet. When Disney took over everything that was not a film got de-canonized. But then again they also basically implied recently they have no idea what to do with the backstory so maybe they'll undo that lol. More to the original point though the actual Mandalorian war and such took place before the actual KOTOR game (it was backstory created for that game).

@@denisa_the_jedi Yes, the Jedi vs Mandalorian conflict is part of the new canon, as well. Though, unless there's some material I'm unaware of (highly likely), that conflicts details are only from reference, as the Clone Wars once were before the prequels. Overall, I like the way Disney has adopted some of the old lore and canon into the new canon, even if I will be forever bitter they didn't hew closer to the old B-Wing/Shantipole lore. I flew those missions so many times, dammit! #selfcenteredbitterness

The Darksaber is a lightsaber that belonged to the first and only Mandalorian Jedi, Tarre Visla, after his death the Darksaber was kept in the Jedi temple of Coruscant until Some Mandalorians stole it in the time of the old Republic, from that moment the Darksaber became a symbol of power in Mandalore, in the series of Clone Wars and rebels the history of this saber is deepened

After watching your reactions for The Mandalorian, I'm convinced you would LOVE it. It's seriously one of the best written shows and *the* best superhero show ever. Those were “Death Troopers,” as seen in Rogue One. The saber is called the “Darksaber” and is a type of lightsaber created by a mandalorian Jedi. Moff is a title. In the original Star Wars, Episode IV, Tarkin was a Grand-Moff.

I had to wait to watch these videos. I finally got hold of The Mandalorian, watched the entire season today, watched your episode 1 video when I was on episode 3. Watched the episode 2 video at about episode 4, then watched the rest of yours after I finished the season. Kept me far enough ahead that you couldn’t spoil the show for me, but I could see so many of your “oh, I hope” and “what if’s” and appreciate them with one who has seen them. Being something of a Star Wars fan since its original theatrical release and seeing everything shown, I saw things like the flip the torso around coming half a mile away. I do call BS on their choosing to have the Moff give until nightfall and such, but overall a very good season. But you actually prompted me to see this series. I try not to watch a series unless it’s had a couple seasons and a renewal for a third at minimum. Shows I take a liking to early on tend to find the cutting axe right after I discover I like them. So I tend to be behind on shows.

Yeah, that R2 unit did NOT skip leg or arm days. Also: being made of plastoid steel, stormtrooper armor is intentionally shit. It's cheap but good enough to take the hit and keep the wearer alive but out of the fight. The Empire operates on a shock and awe principle and will just dump 10x the number of troops needed into a fight so they overwhelm the enemy.

Quick fake history lesson: the darker saber is a lightsaber formed by Mandalore the Great, whom was the first mando Jedi. Whoever welds it is considered a leader to them. (Back when there were actual mandalorians, not just foundlings or wtvr) To get it someone had to challenge the welder and whoever survived took it. People that have had it are a bunch of Vislas, Darth Maul, Sabine Wren and Bo Katan. God I know way to much about nothing

When she said that it wouldn't obey his commands, she didn't mean he couldn't use it, she meant he couldn't use it effectively until he was fully trained and warning him that he should master it before using it in combat. If you pay close attention, all he really does is a couple short, straight forward bursts, which is likely all that his limited training as a boy covered. But if you want to see how a fully trained Mandalorian uses their jetpack, watch The Clone Wars. It's a thing of beauty, it truly becomes a part of them, just as much as their arms or legs. They don't even have to think about it. They'll use it to dodge attacks, add more "umph" to their punches and kicks or just launch their attacks from a hovering position. If a single, untrained Mandalorian can take down a TIE fighter by himself, just imagine what he'll be capable of once he's mastered that skill.

It made perfect sense that Din's parents didn't hide with him. Enemy droids were closing in on them, so they sacrificed themselves as decoys in an attempt to draw them away from Din's hiding place and improve his chances of survival. A droid did find him anyway (so if they had hidden with him, all three of them would have been found and killed together), but the crucial seconds the droid spent killing Din's parents bought just enough time for that Mandalorian to arrive and save Din's life, so his parents didn't die for nothing.

First of all, I just want to say that you are insanely cute, and a joy to watch. I love how your reactions are full of volume and emotion, and not just idiotic questions with zero emotional investment, like some of the reaction videos I've seen. Your sense of humor also shows through in your reactions, and that makes you one of my favorite reaction channels on YT. Secondly, I know you're in the middle of many runs of movies (MCU, other Star Wars stuff, etc.), but one I think you'd love is Changing Lanes with Ben Affleck and Samuel L. Jackson. It's a story about 2 people wrapped up in their own problems who collide one day, and retaliate against each other in a variety of ways. It poses the question, "What if 2 human beings decided NOT to act civil, but instead, do what they could to tear down each others' lives?" Not for your reaction channel, but just one to watch. It's a powerful movie, one that didn't necessarily get the praise it deserved.

This is why the Mandalorian is amazing. Diehard fans will get excited about the Death Watch flashback and the Darksaber reveal, but those who haven't watched Clone Wars or Rebels will enjoy the episode just the same

The weapon at the end is called a Dark Saber. It's the only lightsaber made by a Mandolorian, and was most likely taken by the Moff when they attacked Mandalore. And my guess is that he knows about the Force, and wants whatever it is that lets the baby use the Force so strongly, thus the doctor in the third episode talking about extracting material from it.

That opening scene was classic Taika Waititi humor, but then he got down to business. He's also gonna direct a new Star Wars movie, this was like his "audition" for Disney. I noticed he's getting good at dying in his own movies...Fire Demon, Hitler, and now IG-11.

The "laser sword" is the Dark Saber, a simbol of leadership for the Mandalorians. It was lost right before the galactic war (episodes 4-6), and appeared again now, with Moff Gideon. 😁

"Moff" is an imperial rank. Giancarlo Esposito's character's name is Gideon. Kinda like a general of sorts. Just how in the movies, there was the character Grand Moff Tarkin played by the late Peter Cushing. I love your channel :) (Edit: Looks like someone mentioned this already. Oh well)

Love your reactions! My theory on why they would not check on whether Moff Gideon was dead? I have a few points: 1. Even though it looks like it crashed close, it likely would have still been a good hike to reach the crash site. There was no way for them to know if there were additional enemy forces around that could possibly respond to the crash. 2. It has not really come up much, but we do not know how much more energy their blasters may have had left. 3. They were all fatigued from the fighting. We do not know what injuries may have been suffered and Mando we do know is recovering from a serious injury. The Bacta spray saved his life and began the healing process, allowing him to function, but he definitely was not at 100%. 4. They had already lost Kuill and IG-88. 5. They had a baby with them that has already been through far more danger than any child should ever have to go through. I think at that point, they just wanted to escape and count themselves lucky to be alive. It may seem prudent to go finish off the enemy and in many scenarios it would be. In this case though, it was likely best that they put as much distance between themselves and that area (possibly that planet) as soon as possible.

His weapon is called a Darksaber. It is a one of a kind weapon. Thousands of years ago, there was a Mandolorian who also became a jedi. Jedis construct their own lightsabers, but this mandolorian created something different & unique. And so the Darksaber was born.

That's why Mandalorians are renowned as legendary warriors. Each of their soldiers are given the kind of training and equipment usually reserved for elite SpecOps commandos. And you see it paying off here: a Mandalorian singlehandedly took out a freaking TIE fighter.
