This video is from the first time I hooked up my E-Pro camper to my new 2022 Refreshed Chevy Silverado LT Trail Boss. The short drive gave me a sense of how this truck will tow and expected miles per gallon. There are a few nice towing features I show too.

thedroesslers you have to get the GM cameras because they are actually more advanced than the ones you have in the trailer. The cameras actually give you a quote "invisible trailer", but you need the cameras that work with their software in order to accomplish that within the infotainment screen.

Great vid. Love the way the camera comes on when changing lanes. Hope someone comes up with the reason you do not get views on your screen ( using trailering app)

I don't think I will be able to get my camper camera to work on the screen. I have a Furrion camera system and after some addition online research, that is a closed system. Their cameras and monitor can only talk to each other. If someone can prove that wrong, please let me know but at this point I do not think I will be able to get it to work.

I just got a trailer, its 5100 dry and pulls so nice so far. Just got it friday. The trailer has a gvwr of 6500 which Ill probably never get close too. But this truck is so nice, with my old trailer I think I got around 12 miles a gallon here in Colorado up and down hills. That trailer weighed about the same as yours 3400 pounds. I also installed the roadmaster active suspension to reduce squat as well.

Thanks for the info. I just towed a bit over 450 miles round trip for a camping trip and got right around 10 MPG. Just a tad lower than that when running on the interstate at 70 miles per hour and a bit better at lower speeds.

When you switch to the hitch view and put in park. The truck should automatically set your ebrake.
@thedroesslers
@thedroesslers 2 года назад
That is correct! Awesome! This is exactly what I want it to do. Thanks for pointing this out as I didn't even notice that until I read your comment. I was so used to setting the parking brake with my Traverse I was doing it with the truck even though I didn't need to.

Just noticed you don't have to put the parking brake on when you're hooking up a trailer, the truck automatically engages the parking brake for you when you stop.

Yep. I didn't notice that when I first got the truck. When using the hitch camera, the truck will automatically put on the parking brake when you shift to park which is exactly what I want it to do.

Great video , I have the same camper and just got a GMC Sierra AT so the info about not having to put in tow mode was helpful… do you use Premium or regular gas? I’m a female and the dealer said I HAD to use premium gas but others have said I don’t have to… thanks
@thedroesslers
@thedroesslers 2 года назад
I have the 5.3L engine and according to the manual, you do NOT need to use premium fuel so I don't. Premium fuel is recommended for the 6.3L so it does depend on the engine. I hope that helps.
@menace2321
@menace2321 Год назад
I have the 6.2 Chevy. 93 octane relates to when the gas ignites in the cylinder ( at least my limited google research said so ) 87 will ignite sooner and eventually mess the engine up. If the manual says premium I’d use it and save using lower octane unless you absolutely have too occasionally. I’ve heard people get decreased mpg when using regular fuel compared to the 93 as well.

Did you ever figure out how to connect your camper trailer camera integrated into display?
@thedroesslers
@thedroesslers Год назад
I don't think it is possible with the camera I have. My understanding is that the Furrion camera I have is a closed system. It only works with a Furrion display. So, unfortunately, I still have that extra display on my dash. I took off the stand and put it in the narrow storage just behind the top of the screen. It sits there pretty well.

Hello. I just bought this truck (Silverado 1500 LT 2FL Turbomax, 4x4) about 4 weeks ago, this car is beautiful, good, strong engine. I want to buy an RV but I don't know if this vehicle can tow an RV or not? If so, what is the maximum weight of an RV? My Truck: Brand new 2024 Gvwr=7,000lbs. Gcwr=14,500lbs. Rgawr=38,000lbs. Maxpayload=1,966lbs. Curbweight=5,034lbs. Conventional TWR=9,000lbs. Max tongue weight=900lbs. Gooseneck TWR=8,900lbs. Max tongue weight=1,335lbs. Gawr FRT=3,800lbs. Gawr RR=3,800lbs. Tire size: FRT=RR=265/65R18 T. (rim 18x8.5J) SPA=265/70R17 S (rim 17x8J). Font=Rear=Spare=240 kPa, 35Psi. So, Can my truck (GVWR=7,000lbs) tow an RV/Trailer with a maximum load of 9,000lbs? If possible, please post more videos of the Silverado 1500 2.7l, 4-cylinder truck pulling an RV trailer. Thanks
@thedroesslers
@thedroesslers 6 месяцев назад
I suggest going to an RV dealer and speaking with someone there about what size trailer would be safe to tow with your vehicle. I have the 5.3L engine so I won't be making any videos for the 2.7L.

Just got a 2022 TrailBoss Refresh 5.3. Starting pulling RV trailer and got service trailer brake notice. Dealership said new issues just reported #PIT5948A: Service Trailer Brake message with DTC C159C. Have you experienced this?
@thedroesslers
@thedroesslers Год назад
No, we have not had that issue. We have towed our camper almost 1000 miles at this point with no problems.
@jonathanmelendez2377
@jonathanmelendez2377 Год назад
They just created a Recall for this issue, they need to replace the trailer controller switch. Call your dealer to see if they have the part and then make the appointment. That was my issue as well.

How is the mpg at highway 80mph with out trailer of course
@thedroesslers
@thedroesslers Год назад
I have a few MPG videos, but nothing for strictly highway driving. Also, I don't drive that fast. Here is my response to a similar question that was asked: I drive 10 miles each way to work everyday on the highway at 65 MPH. Based on the drive summary on the digital cluster (which usually reads a little high), I consistently get 18-20 MPG on the way to work and 16-18 on the way home. The difference going home is that it is a bit more up hill (not a lot) and most of the time I am driving into the wind. I hope that helps.

What about the transmission temperature nobody mentioned
@thedroesslers
@thedroesslers Год назад
I don't remember for sure, but I believe it was in the low 200s. I can confirm in a couple weeks when we go on our next camping trip. I know it was way better than towing with our Traverse which would hit 250+ on longer trips.

I have a 2022 Trail Boss Duramax, when I hooked up my 5,999 camper(dry) the monitor showed me like is over load, that is normal? Also the brake controller is not working properly either.
@jonathanmelendez2377
@jonathanmelendez2377 Год назад
My concern is, how can be overloaded when the truck is rated 9000 pounds.?
@thedroesslers
@thedroesslers Год назад
The overload warning seems wrong. I would check with your dealer about why it would say that. For the brake controller, make sure you turn up the sensitivity. I thought mine was broken when I created a new trailer profile on the trailering app, but the problem was that it turned the sensitivity down to zero.

Can a 2020 trailboss that tows 9400 lbs tow a trailer thats 8600lbs?
@mjareacts2731
@mjareacts2731 Год назад
Yes
@jedibike
@jedibike Год назад
There’s a lot to think about there though. Is that 8600lbs trailer full of water? How many gallons? 8lbs per gallon. How much stuff is in the camper? Tables? Chairs? Gear? How mush stuff is in your truck? People? Generator? Gas cans? You’ll quickly get to that max tow rating when all of those factors are considered.
