I did the same, and the LL "glowy" fiber sight things. I like them a lot, but they break at the range when you try to use up your 30 minutes. G2Cs are OK, but not amazing. I did replace the plastic "striker guide" thing....the right term? I don't want to turn it into a giant project, I figure it'll just last longer as it is EDC and I go to the range 1x per week. I did the striker guide, the springy-thing, I keep it clean, and it has never jammed on me. I know people rag on Taurus, but my PT92 v1 has seen about 20,000 rounds since 1995 and never jammed. This G2C is probably not that good, but hasn't jammed either. Is it the ammo? I keep it clean.

I had the "gritty trigger" on my Taurus G2C .40 caliber, and, when pulling the trigger it felt like a "catch" when pulling the trigger about half way before getting the trigger to the wall...I removed the entire striker assembly (just as shown in this video), completely disassembled the striker assembly, used q-tips and cleaned the striker channel in the slide, cleaned all striker parts, DID NOT LUBE, and reassembled. Feels like a custom trigger now, and no parts were replaced. Maybe it will work for your gun as well. 😉 Great video for upgrading this cool tool! 😎

Why spend crazy money replacing parts which have no known issues on a sub $250 pistol (WHICH I OWN AND LOVE BTW)... when there are literally ZERO issues with the Taurus G series guide rods. If you dont trust "plastic" why buy a "plastic" gun? Not being a jerk, I promise. I too was tempted to customize and tinker with my G3C, but then quickly realized its easy to spend more on parts alone than the gun will ever be worth. Save your cash for those overpriced spare Taurus mags, a set of night sights, maybe a light, and practice ammo! Im only trying to save others from mistakes Ive made. Isn't that the point of the gun community? Unless the gun malfunctions, save the money for upgrades that will actually IMPROVE your interface with the gun. Good luck!
@Steve-Goff
@Steve-Goff Год назад
- have you ever replaced brake pads on a car? Did you go with the very cheapest ones or ones that were a little better? They provide a little better performance and better stopping distance. Do Taurus parts work? Sure, but you could spend $25 and make it a whole lot better. That striker guide changes how the trigger feel which affects accuracy.
@IronChefBklyn
@IronChefBklyn Год назад
@@Steve-Goff 100% on the striker guide assembly!!! (IF it actually is ascertainably affecting your trigger), but as for the stainless spring guide? I've NEVER personally heard of a stock plastic one failing and NEVER heard of an all metal one MEASURABLY improving either recoil OR accuracy. Mostly anecdotal stories from guys who admit it may actually be a "placebo effect" from the feel of extra weight. Glocks, CZ's, Sigs, and countless others use polymer guide rods and have gone literally TENS of thousands of rounds with ZERO issues. But hey, this is AMERICA BABY! Us boys LOVE customizing our toys, and there's NEVER been more options to do just that than RIGHT NOW!

I think the only upgrades I'd get for my G3c is the recoil spring and rod to steel. I'm not happy about the plastic, other than that, the pistol is perfect as is for EDC, I don't show it off, and nobody else is going to use it so it can be ugly(I think it looks fine), great call on upgrading the rod and spring! I'd try compressed air for a scratchy trigger first, then replace if that fails to help, or just want a new/smoother feel. I do love the upgrade tho, especially if you plan on regular practice with it.

Check the feed ramp on your barrel to see if it is well polished. My G3C ramp was somewhat polished but I wanted it to be more mirror-like so I put a polisher tip on my Dremel and polished the feed ramp for between 30 to 60 seconds. Didn't take long, and I ended up with a glass-like mirror surfaced feed ramp. Just that can improve a lot of reliability issues on various pistols.

I bought a Taurus G2C a short time back to augment the two G3s that I bought a few months back. I had TruGlo Professional tritium/fiber optic sights put on the G3s, but I bought the Ameriglo tritium sights for the G2C. All three guns are pleasant to shoot with 115 grain 9x19mm ammo, but now it looks like I have to buy the Lakeline parts. Oh, well. Lately, I haven't been able to carry strongside due to sciatica caused by spinal stenosis, so I'm carrying my 3" Taurus 856 Defender with a Galloway spring kit in a Galco Hornet holster worn crossdraw. It, too, is a very acceptable defensive tool.

You Don't have to use the screw driver to get the plate on, all you need to do is push it with a finger start the plate on and it'll push all the way through easy, also the flat side of the firing pin is impossible to face the other way bc it it only goes in 1 way it's impossible to face it the wrong way even on accident. Also anything metal on metal helps with a bit of oil, also don't be afraid to oil the outside slide then wipe it off, bc the finish on them wears easy so it's easier to oil it frequently like every week and wipe it clean, i oil it before bed once a week and it'll get absorbed into the metal over night after i wipe it off. Better then fighting rust blemishes. I do like the idea of changing all plastic to metal tho, i wish those 2 plastic tabs had metal replacement parts!

That's one issue new owners fail to understand about these pistols, you rarely, if ever need to lube the trigger mechanisms, specially areas where you don't have access to in striker fired pistols(unless mentioned by the maker, usually lube holes exist when that's true). Dropping lube into that area only guarantees one thing, that it will collect dirt, grime, and eventually become a problem.

I purchased Lakeview ported barrel, recoil system and the steel striker assembly for my new G3c pistol. The ported barrel would not fit, along with Lakeview instructions saying to modify the slide with a round file for entry of their product on certain models; hense Zero warranty on the slide after that. The recoil system makes a noticeable difference. The steel striker system uses the factory 14lb spring weight and resulted in 100% light strikes for me, with CCI and Remington factory 124g ammo, plus reloads with Winchester and CCI primers, set at .002" depth below surface. All this ammo fired 100% in my friends Star model 30 pistol for my conformation of the problem.The factory striker guide being plastic may possibly wear faster, but has no danger for operation of the pistol. I installed a Wolf Spring 15 1/2lb spring to resolve all light strikes, yet the trigger pull does increase with this modification. M*Carbo trigger spring kit also uses the factory 14lb weight spring, causing light strikes, although installing their complete kit, along with the internal polishing does result in a beautiful, smooth non spongy trigger pull. I also purchased a Taurus Black Barrel, and polished the ramp, which made a drastic change of improvement of lock-up, plus shows no external scuffing marks as the original factory barrel. The other install was a set of TruGlo sights, super bright! Taurus customer service insist the initial answer of "what ammo are your using", as the standard form reply to the light strike topic-worthless. These affordable, well fitting to the average hand pistols' are a bit touchy, compared to other brands, but for the $249, I can afford to install improvements for longevity and durability.

Clean and lube again and affect the same mods. Pull trigger and work the slide 300 cycles. Put 50 rds. of ball then 50 hollow points thru it and you should be broken in and ready to rock. I put an XS Sights big dot front and rear sight combo on mine and for close in work in no or low light conditions this setup is great.
