I ride my Ryker Rally to work for the first time. This is going to be my main commuter until the winter season rolls by where it falls below 50 degrees.
The nature of a trike is that it will follow the crown of the road. So it will normally moves side to side. 2 wheels ride on either side of the middle hump and you dont get pushed around. You get used to it just like in a car. Becomes 2nd nature to keep it straight.
I have a 70 mile round trip for work on my 2022 900. Still not too bag here in central Texas in early December . Around 45 degrees at 5am when I leave. With proper gear it’s not bad especially after 20 years in the military under my belt being in very cold 🥶 locations. I had to get to property aligned and balanced which the dealership did not take care of.
Yes sir you will be bounce around entering on the highway because as ryker driver we are much smaller so what I do toward big truck drivers I speed pass them quickly. I am a 18 teen wheel truck driver my self, but once I’m pass them the freeway is all Mines. It looks like you are enjoying the weather as I been during . Which I been riding my bike to work every day except today I drive my other car.
I need to just twist the throttle next time and zoom past the trucks. Oh ya this is the time to enjoy the bike, at least till late Nov or early Dec for me.
I have a Madstad windscreen. I love the windscreen, makes a huge difference. Blocks a ton of wind. The only thing I don't like, is that you need to have the Madstad all the way up and all the way tilted back in order to get into the frunk. I can get the frunk up just enough to squeeze out a bandana or other stuff. Once I have it adjusted I don't want to change it. Just a heads up.
Ya I saw that on their video. That is why I am thinking maybe an 18 inch just up enough to open the frunk because I use that regularly. Anyways I will still give the OEM one a shot but I feel I might not hang on to it for long.
That is definitely a hike to work! The OEM windshield looks absolutely pointless. I ordered the Madstad 20 inch, should be shipped next week, can update you on that one if you like.
For sure Richie. That would be great because I am looking into that as well and trying to decide which length is better for me the 18 or the 20 inch. Thank you.
I feel very relaxed when I ride my Ryker compared to my old Victory Cross Country. I wear less protective gear on my Ryker and maybe, have a false sense of security. The other day wearing shorts not good.
I have been riding my 2022 Ryker 900 for less than a month and wear a mix of gear. I’m not ATGATT. I have worn a helmet on every ride, except the day I bought it. It has been 90+ degrees this month, so I have been wearing short sleeves. I have also worn shorts on most rides. I just ordered a jacket with CE armour in the elbows, shoulders, and back. It is supposed to be ventilated for Summer riding. I will see how that goes.
Depends on the highway or road surface. If there is a depression on either side of center or it’s grooved you will shimmy. Just relax and go with the flow. Otherwise mine is rock solid on highway but shimmy’s more on back roads that are not even
I'm hoping to take possession of my 600 this weekend, can't wait! My work commute is 99% rural with the end in a small town. Intimidated by the idea of taking it on the interstate, but I guess I'll work my way up to it.
Congratulations. You will enjoy it. Everyone is like that before taking it to the interstate, once you get that out of your system you will gain confidence quickly.
I ride my 2021 Ryker 900 to work everyday if I can but right now its cold and winter here in Iowa so I cant wait to get back on it and ride the 40 miles to work!
If you get rear ended you will fly of that Ryker and get hurt, should always wear protection. Having said that I understand your feeling of being safer, the bike does make you feel safer.
The spyders are bit heaver, I don't get moved around as much with the wind and passing large trucks. I also put a larger windscreen on as well. It came with a shorty that was pretty much useless.
I had to put the can am away bar in to stop the dartiness. I don’t have the Ryker anymore but yes when I had it I was used to it. Even did a road trip to Miami from Atlanta.
Leroy my recommendation would be a Spyder F3 for 2 up as that will have more room and will be mu h more comfortable. Ryker is more for a single rider in my opinion but if you spend some money on adding proper 2 up shocks then it you should be good for local 2 up riding.
That's exactly why I bought mines. To commute to and from work (50 miles round trip). What gas mileage or u getting. I'm at the 300 mile mark and I'm getting 26.4 mpg
I am nearing 1k miles and the highest I have seen is 31 mpg. Also If you are commuting on a boring ride try putting it in Eco on mode. but the highest I have gotten out of a tank is 153 miles and that was on my 3rd or 4th fillup. My first fill up I was barely at 100 miles. I think it gets better but not over 30-32 mpg.
@@biggjune2914 When I fill up it always says around 110 but right now I am at my last bar with 130 on the odo and the computer says I can go another 30 miles. The grill is a tough one, I would leave mine black or paint part of it gold.
I have a Ryker Rally and I noticed the 70 mph the side to side action. It's not bad. Maybe in the future I will install a new sway bar. What do you think?
Its not bad the side to side like you said and it is something that becomes the norm. I was looking into the sway bar Can Am sells for this but not sure how good it is. There is not much info I have found on how stiff it will make the ride. I want my ride to stay comfy. I have to do more research.
@@RideAboutNow The Baja Ron swaybar is the first thing I put on mine and it makes a WORLD of difference! Just remember that the bolts can be put in backwards if you don't have the correct tool to maneuver with.
Hi from Romania 🇷🇴! As I'm going to buy my Ryker in a couple of months and because the conditions of some backroads in my country are terrible to say at least, in clear contrast with the major roads and highways witch are silky smooth, I have a question to ask you! How thus the Ryker handles bumps and potholes? Especially potholes! Thank you very much! Oliver
For the most part the Ryker is smooth. I would try to avoid the potholes especially on the front wheels. If you cannot then make sure the back wheel hits the pot hole rather than the front. If the front hits, the front end will wobble for sure.
I just got mine 3 days ago. I got on the highway and I didn't feel it was throwing me around. I did take a beating because Im waiting on my windshield. Question did you get the swaybar installed? It makes such a huge difference.
I’m interested in the sway bar and seriously looking I to it. Does the ride get really stiff where it gets uncomfortable? Also what difference exactly does it make.
It does stiffen the ride, I think it's like 33% stiffer than normal. For me its really comfortable and I have a bad back. Its supposed to help with anti-roll when curving and the handling should be better when riding at high speed.
Really? On the hwy with no jacket? The word you were searching for is being an "idiot!". Falling off you bike? No, how about getting hit by another vehicle. I am actually surprised that you have that mindset. Sure, maybe within city limits at 25-30 mph is the max and it's 85-90 degrees outside. But a 14 mile ride on a freaking hwy? Really TKR? Come on man. You're better than that.
I agree on the highway I will be wearing a jacket for safety. Like I mentioned in the video the trike gives you a false sense of safety but proper gear should be worn for safety.
I had it for a year and it was pretty good to me. But you always have that thought in the back of your head 'will it stop on the side of the road any second'.
Looks like you’re pretty stable riding, you must have some some good stabilizers on your bike.. I was thinking about getting tha Baja Ron for mine.. can you confirm if there are worth the $70?
