After so many massive hauls from small creeks, it's reassuring you're as human as the rest of us! Nice video.

Nice vid! I was wondering how a tenkari rod would do in bigger water. After watching a ton of your videos I’m hooked!! Will be buying my first rod and setup soon! Love your videos - thanks for sharing!

I tie a very similar fly for goldeye. I use a thin black body with orange artificial bucktail for a tail and orange hackle. Sometimes if I'm feeling creative I'll add a bit of gold tinsel as well. They take it well and love the orange.

Tristan, Your videos are marked by rapid fish bites in quick succession. That's fine, but your short drone intro to this video was a welcome addition to your scenic repertory. And your viewers will happily watch you catch three, five or nine fish with some additional scenic qualities added to enlarge the ambience of the video. I have watched a couple of older Swedish guys fish in a beautiful series called "Carpe Diem"; they don't catch a fish per second, or even a fish per minute. They have even shown non-fishing events like pouring and having a drink while admiring the scenery, showing the swarms of midges, or closeups of colorful flowers, napping on a riverbank with fish rising in the background, studying and discussing their approach to a certain fish, and many other peripheral effects that enhance the whole video, which can be over 20 minutes long and where they catch maybe half a dozen or so fish. They also provide English subtitles or sometimes speak English. The whole sequence becomes a beautiful little gem of a video. I know these effects can add unnecessary complications to your videos, but they may also enhance your viewers' experiences. Your production values are high and your content is always skillfully sequenced. You have a professional regard for your audience, which is what keeps us coming back. Keep improving; I'm sure you will.

May I make a request? I have seen a 24 foot "tenkara" rod on amazon from a company called Goture. It's only 20 usd if memory serves me right. I would love to see you try that out on a body of water this size. It would also probably get you plenty of views. The reviews and videos I've seen on it complement it on how surprisingly well made it is. Thanks for the great content.

I love my "cheap Chinese" Goture rod. It is heavy, but I can detect tons of strikes with it, and even on worm, I have gotten a ton of easy to take out lip hooks on sunfish.

They seemed pretty keyed in on midges. I might have clipped off the soft hackle just to give it more of a natural midge pupa look(or maybe just the size), but who knows. Regardless it still looked like a nice day, that crystal clear water and snow is a beautiful sight to look at.

My dad use to use a long Tenkara rod but he called it a cane pole. A whole lot cheaper too. Saw him pull a big Northern pike out of the river down from our house.

Lovely looking river. Over here in the UK that would be a very big river. Did you think to try a dry fly? With fish rising like that I'd be tempted to try an F fly or cdc emerger. I know it's not technically tenkara but I can't resist chucking dries to rising fish
@TenkaraAddict
@TenkaraAddict 3 года назад
Yep, I tried an elk hair caddis, which was the only dry fly I had on me. No takers. This is an odd river. It starts off as a very small stream stream that you can jump across only about 5 miles upstream from here, and shortly below here, it joins a much larger river. Thanks for watching 👍

Say you get snagged at the almost full extension of rod and line across the creek too deep to wade, how do you break it off without damage to the rod? In all the demo's I've seen I've never seen this illustrated
@TenkaraAddict
@TenkaraAddict 2 года назад
In that situation, your only option is to just pull on the rod until you can reach the line and hope that nothing breaks. In practice, that's never happened to me. I've had to pull on the rod occasionally until I can reach the line, but it's never been at absolute max extension.

good job, the kebari works, do you use any no traditional flies? midges, nymphs, streamers?
