There is no way a creek like this is going to NATURALLY have this many big trout in it. It's biologically impossible. I don't know what's going on here. But I've got a pretty good idea.
This guy fishes on sportsman's club private property streams where they pay a premium to have fish stocked for members only. Catch and release. Probably pays a fee too. That's why he never reveals the streams he fishes. Notice that no one else is ever fishing on these streams with all the big fish in it.
Yeah I think that every time I watch someone land a big fish on 2x with a 3wt…… 10 minutes later they get the fish landed, but that’s all typically overlooked because it’s on a “Fly Rod” lol😂……. The other thing that’s overlooked is how resilient fish are in the cold spring water! 👌🤙😁 Not saying it was perfect, but it’s how I had to do it without a net & the fish were All just fine……🤙😉😁 But I agree with you that I’m glad I got a net too! 😉😁😎👌🤙👍
I assume you mean 5-6x? 2x is about 10lb-12lb depending on brand and what not. Most 3wt rods nowadays have quite a bit of backbone (they're probably ESN rods) and can horse a trout no problem if they just played the fished right. People do like to play fish though, It's horrible to watch somebody play a 18-20 for 10 minutes, when in reality if they how to play a fish, they'd be in the net in a minute.@@chasingthewildwithdustyrho2620
Another great installment my dude! I didn't start using a net regularly til this past autumn out of sheer stubbornness. But the net helps out everyone involved, you'll land more fish, you can use it as a live well, which is indispensable for those of us who love to piss around with getting cameras into positions for photos, and it means you don't have to play the fish to exhaustion. Good for us, good for the trout. I got one of the magnetic Orvis net retainers for Christmas, and I'd say that I really dig it, if the damn magnet didn't fall out last week. Fortunately it was attached to the other magnet, so a strip of gaff tape and some channel locks got it reseated permanently. Those days where you get skunked for an hour or two can be brutal. Second guessing everything. And just wondering if there's anything in the creek. Brother, I went out today, and I had my first encounter with a big brown. I think it was a 20. I have the video up on my channel now as a short if you wanna watch the most painful moment of my fishing career. My day start out like yours. It was my first outing with the Aglia, so I was spending a lot of time getting used to it. Went up the right fork of this creek. At first it didn't look good, but I started encountering a few trout. It was a low lying creek in farmland, but you'd get random runs that 6 foot wide and 4 foot deep for 20 yards, twisting and turning. All nasty surrounded by green briar, and banks that came up a foot or two above the water line. I fished that out to private property without landing anything, then hit the left fork, where I encountered the one above. First I got a hit from a brown that was maybe 15 or 16 inches. He got off. After that I had the encounter in the short, then finally I had another one on that look like a stick of butter, really yellow from what I saw. He jumped and got the Aglia out of his mouth. I retrieved, snagged, and when I went to retrieve the snag the lure went flying into the woods, and so my day was done! A few observations. I didn't have any issues with the 2lb when I hooked up with the fish. My biggest problem was not setting the hook properly, as I'm now smashing all my barbs down, and not used to having to set the hook hard. From the few glances I've had in your lure box, I've seen you using #2s. I was using #1s, and even then I was having some issues with bottoming out and pickup up a lot of leaves and sticks. I'm thinking of getting some #0s and using those for the small stream stuff. Anyway dude, a big thank you to you again, because if not for you, I never would've hooked up with that fish and got to see him! And now I know where he is, and I'm gonna land him!
Outstanding Dusty. Sure wish Adams county had these monsters in their creeks. Nice water down here, just nothing to brag about in size. Another awesome video, tight lines.
I just think back to the date March 2020 and remember that's right around the time when the world seemed to be shut down from the pandemic.Crazy, scary times
My Church was the streambank that year…… I caught more 20” trout that year than any other in my life…… The Stream was where I felt at peace & forgot about all of the Crazyness!!! 👌🤙👍🎣🥰
@@chasingthewildwithdustyrho2620 There's nothing like being knee deep in a mountain trout stream. It definitely has a way of cleansing the mind, being therapeutic, and getting away from the hustle and bustle in the real world. Unfortunately like I commented before Dusty my father is 87 years old and battling day to day with health issues. He is my main priority at this time in my life. Anyhow watching your videos helps me feel like I am right there .Life throws a lot of curves at you that sometimes you never see coming. Take care.
@@joehawk9839 Best of luck & prayers for you in all my friend!! 🙏🙏🙏 You take care also…. & I’ll keep putting some good stuff out there so you can slip away to the stream side with me from time to time! 👌😉🎣😁
Yeah that’s what ALL of the experts are telling me……. you might tell that to these fly guys that are using 2 pound Tippit on a 2 or 3 weight taking 10-15 minutes to land a big fish.👌👌👌 Just sayin…….. and this footage was from early 2020….. I’ve had a net since mid 2020…. Watch a few more of my vids & you’ll see this! Lol👌🤙😉😁🎣
Lol…… often times I think about just forgetting & giving up all of the the knowledge & things that I’ve learned & everything that has made me the successful angler that I’ve become!!! I may take it up one day! 🤷♂️
