Small pond but feeling the same, especially this covid-19 time ! Your action on the catfish is very quick ! Hope the weather is warmer and you are luckier this time :)
Hi Don. It is unusual for me to use a keepnet outside of a match, but this is a small area and I didn't want to spook the other fish too much by releasing each one as I caught them. I could have been wrong but I just wanted to get a good video after all these weeks without one.
Great video. Nice to see margin / heavy pole rigs being used without overly bullying the fish. Congrats on the weight loss ( I tend to fill my pockets with chocolate when fishing, but alas I seem to get the opposite result 😁) A quick question on back shot if I may ( I assume you are sinking the back shot?). Do you have to adjust the shoting of your rig 1-2-1, i.e. if you put on a number 8 back shot would you need to remove an equivalent weight from your rig to keep the float balance the same?
Hi Paul. Thanks for your comments. If you place the back shot at just under half the distance from the pole tip to the float and lowering the pole tip slightly, the back shot will sink the line to the float without affecting the floats shotting capacity. It is important to note that the back shot must not be more than halfway, because then it would affect the floats shotting. You can test this for yourself by moving the back shot up and down. If it is too near to the float, when you lower the pole, not only will it sink the line but as you continue to lower the pole tip, you will see it have an effect on the float tip. I hope this helps.😃
i went on tuesday fishing for silvers had 6 to 8 elastic got a carp on the end and it took for ever to net it i dont no if the weather has something to do with it but you seem to have a better stamp of fish over there here in the north east england the average is about 3 to 4 lbs but u still get some big ones tho like all ways nice video
We seem to have a range of fish in stillwaters from 8oz to around 10lbs Brad, but in the rivers they seems to be between 7 to 16lbs with some over 20lbs. Of course, there are much larger fish in these waters, but that seems to be the average size.
Do you encounter many snakes on your fishing trips? On a recent trip to my local fishery I saw three grass snakes swimming across to the island first I have seen for years ,I am in warwickshire uk
I don't see many snakes when I go fishing Barry. I have had encounters with a few over the past 5 years, but it's not as though it's a regular occurrence. We seem to have more in and around the streets of the estate where I live at the moment due to it being their mating season.
Well those trees behind you didn't help seems as many snags out of the water as in Weather must be getting better as you are in short sleeves Never felt the need to buy a pole myself prefer a feeder rod or float in summer Looks like a good session though and it is routine that a bite comes while busy drinking tea or eating lunch Any more progress with the Printed feeders ?
Thanks Barbara. I'm afraid I haven't been out fishing for weeks, so there is no more info on the 3D Printed Feeders. I have, however, printed some normal Method Feeders and Banjo Feeders of the same size, so I might try and get a trip to the local river next week. All being well, I can interchange them and see what happens during the session.
