As a pleasure fisherman, you don't actually need one Phillip. Yes, they make catching fish in certain circumstances more efficient, but I still enjoy fishing with a rod and reel more.

Thanks for your comments. I would consider reviewing anything , but unfortunately, I would have to buy it first, which would not be feasible. However, if any manufacturers want to send me kit for reviewing I would be happy to provide an unbiased opinion.

But is it good in a place where you’ve got snags and don’t want fish running as far? I’ve heard it stretches far

@@Ror0009 yes it does stretch far so dose any other elastic on the market if you dont want the fish going in to snags then it will be better to use a short top kit so threr isn't as much elastic though the pole and that should prevent the fish locking you up in the snag

@@FishingwithDen but I can say I do look forward and love you videos because you cover everything in whatever video you are making and scrutiny all aspects as in the cost of to us ..are we just being hypnotised by the big boys getting paid mega bucks on RU-vid to use there products. When even they know its not the best but who are they to argue..I like Tommy pickering but since maver moved him on hes gone on to advertising fjucka baits ...(mavers loss ) but fjucka is prestons new project since he sold preston...he was at my local commercial throwing freebie bags at us to video our ..brilliant stuff answer..to show and promote..sorry didn't mean to make this such a long reply..keep making the vids .👍❤ em

To be honest Dave, I haven't done much Pole Fishing recently. My viewers seem to like it more when I use a rod. Having said that, I do like the Slik elastic. It's just the price that puts me off. It's 4 times more expensive than the Middy stuff.

I found the same thing when I first started to use it Garry, so now I use it on venues with plenty of space around me.

What colour where you using Gary? Iv got a margin pole with only 2 top kits... i usually use map hollow white 6 to 10 in one and black 12 to 16 in the other.. I was thinking orange 12 to 14 slik in one and green 16 to 18 in another ?

@@leafysfishing hi if you want a good elastic bud for down the edge I would highly recommend the Dura slip size 15 the red one I've had carp to 13lb on it with no problems it's fantastic stuff

@@garryhodgson2614 iv decided to go with the duraslip 👍 I'm gonna put the white 13 in one top kit and the red 15 in another.. heard good things.. aslong as I don't bump fish like on solids ill be happy !

Good point Neil. The Matrix stuff is good, but expensive. I think other manufacturers are more realistic in their pricing.

@@FishingwithDen honestly if you like the matrix try the nufish elastic is 499 in the UK matrix is good but it's very expensive plus nufish don't have to pay Jamie's wages lol The idea with these elastics is you ship back fast to your top kit as the elastic brakes and releases as the fish does these types are meant for short kits in my opinion as you only have half in the kit as per carp kit if that makes sense . I fish matches each week at tunnelbarn farm in the UK the opens and it does speed. Up your landing fish sadly it doesn't help with the bites it would be worth the money then 👍 I have no sponsor with nufish or benefit from plugging there elastic apart from sharing my opinions to try to save anglers money as the sport is very expensive as is.

@@neilmurphy9926 I will check with Billy Clarke Fishing Tackle to see if they have any Neil. I wish I could fish at Tunnel again. I used to enjoy it all the way back when they only had the bottom pool followed by the new pool at the top.

@@FishingwithDen Honselty you won't be disappointed with it , I'm at tunnel tomorrow pleasure session to try some tactics for Monday's open its fishing quite hard at the mo feeding is key to keeping them on deck else it's foul hooker and liner city. Tunnel is a great venue lovely place full of fish the staff are great helpful if you ever get the chance I think you would leave with a big smile on your face 👍

I don't have any technical details I'm afraid. All I can tell you is that Slik stretches much further than solid elastic.

@@FishingwithDen I think that at circa 15 seconds, you read from a packet and say that is stretches 600% MORE than conventional elastics. Without being 'all technical' (just using junior school maths), if normal latex stretches 5X its original length and slik stretch 600% (6x) more than latex, doesn't that mean that slik must stretch 30x it's original length. Please check for me. It would be easy to get a piece of 1ft slik and stretch it until it locks. I bet it only stretches to around 7ft(ish) at the most, not 30ft. You'll then have an objective measurement rather than a subjective opinion.

@@FishingwithDen Thanks for your reply. For you information, I've had some arrive in the post today. I've stretched some old preston slip to 5.7x and the slik stretched to 8x it's original length. I make that 40% more (not 600% more). How are they allowed to make such ridiculous claims? I'm was surprised when you read it out without question and didn't realise how stupid it was.

Hi Julian. I am using Slik Elastic for more and more of my fishing these days, especially in the stronger versions. In the lighter versions, like a size 14-16, I tend to use the Middy solid elastic in swims where I have less room to let them run, but where I have plenty of room I use the Slik for that too. I still think it is very overpriced, but I do like it.

@@leafysfishing For big carp, I've been using the Slik 22. It's got plenty of stretch and works well for me. You have to be careful that you're using a pole capable of handling that size elastic though.

I was using the Daiwa Yank n Bank 13 metre pole.

That would be my thoughts too Paul. Until I really struggled catch the big fish in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_obrZsMj0VM.html My Solid elastic was bottoming out and I lost some really big fish, so I am going to experiment with the Slik 20-22 to see if the extra stretch slows them down more. It will be an interesting exercise.

Middy solid bumps big fish for fun! I used to lose fish fishing middy red in margins.. switched to hollow and didn't bump a fish again. Middy solid is terrible .. you realise when you use some more expensive hollows ect. I'm gonna try the matrix slik instead of map hollow

That's absolutely right Simon. They just market it as a Hybrid between traditional solid elastic and hollow elastic and I only have limited space in my titles to describe stuff. :)
