Join me as I fish Chesil Beach on Monday Sept 25th. Fishing from 3pm to 2 am Tuesday, I'm at Abbotsbury, approx 1 km towards West Bexington from the beach car park
Parking was £8 for 24 hrs
Using fresh blow lug, king rag , frozen blacks , frozen mackerel, squid and sandeel , I catch a variety of species
Rigs for the trip were 1/0 , 2/0 pulley pennels (18 inch to 60 inch rig length) and a simple 2 hook clipped rig with size 1-2 hooks
Quite a large swell at first in the fresh 10 -15 mph SW wind which eased during the trip.
At high tide the swell wasn't really a problem but as the tide ebbed , a lot of false bites with the waves hitting the line . Plenty of floating weed as well
Walking towards West Lexington is easy on the road - Just be sensible if you are driving down to drop off your gear - Don't park or block the passing spaces and respect the local population who live along the road

Thanks for watching Derek - The lure of a good session draws us back again and again : Once you're there, it's relatively easy , with no snags and not having to move .. just got to hope the fish are in front of you : Good luck on your next session

Chesil always seems to humble me from my overly optimistic expectations before every session lol . Thanks for taking us along again and congrats on the decent coding and bass 👍🏼.

Thanks for watching. I'd watched Ian Clark on you tube bagging up with 7 (I think) cod the previous week , so arrived at Chesil fully expecting the same - After 5.5 blank hrs, it makes you doubt yourself and certainly (most of the time) resets your expectations !

Thanks for watching that, still haven't decided between Ferry bridge or Abbotsbury yet
@fishingat
@fishingat 10 месяцев назад
@@garethwilliams3333 Cheaper parking at Abbotsbury and the walk towards West Bex is easy on the road : the banks are not steep as you head that way ... 15 mins, I was almost 3/4 mile from the car park (At Ferrybridge, just be getting to the bird sanctuary that time !! )

Thanks for watching, I tend to sleep in my van (couple of hrs) after a night on the beach - Actually, never tried sleeping on the beach but have seen lots of people with light weight camping mats and sleeping bags in their bivvies

Well done on your catches what rods do you use ?🎣👍🏽👍🏽
@fishingat
@fishingat 9 месяцев назад
Thanks for watching. 2 main rods I use, both Daiwa (Only reason is that's what I used when I was a kid !!) Tournament surf TNS142M (2 piece 4.3 M) and a Daiwa Saltist STTS1422M-AU (2 piece 4.3 M). The surf is my preferred as more action and better bite detection. The Saltist I find is quite stiff but it's what I use for the big baits / weights. Both cast 7 oz ok with baits bit I'm no big caster !! The surf was about £300 and the Saltist £200 when I bought them about 3 yrs ago. I also use a Penn surf rampage 3 piece (about 13 ft) which I like for the smaller stuff - quite a soft action - hope that helps
