Fishing AT Ogmore by Sea 25/3/24 - Finally a decent fish comes ashore amongst the usual dogfish

Once again I fish Ogmore by Sea , this time on a much bigger tide than the previous week . With double the tidal difference , fish down to low (1.3m) and up to near high (9.5 m Porthcawl tides) , starting on the sand and ending up in the rocks
I parked in the car park between Ogmore by Sea and Southdown (£6-50) and walked directly down and fished almost in front
Using a variety of rigs and baits, catch fish from the off and it's a very busy initial 3-4 hrs from the sand. Conditions get more challenging as I'm pushed up onto the rocks
Baits (sandeel, squid, bluey, mackerel and anchovy) supplied by Dave Richards Angling in Newport (Gwent)

Never fished that venue, as much as i like dogs, loose ones around hooks is always a panic. Great session and good to see how much joy fishing brings to you. Reminds me why we all do it. Happy birthday.

Thanks for watching - kept the hooks up high or the baited ones inside my cooler box. The 2 loose springers ? hoovered up all the discarded bait and would easily have taken a baited hook if one around. Poor dogfish must have wondered what was going on - Get's dragged out the sea, then sniffed / licked by a dog !! We all have the right to be on the beach, we just need to be sensible whether we are anglers or dog owners.

Thanks for watching - Always caught more on the Welsh side , fishing is generally pretty good on that part of the coastline , especially if you like the dogfish

@@fishingat Not fished for nearly two years now, still got two beach casters and a load of lighter gear for heavy float fishing and lure work. Just need to be fitter to use it, will try in June when I’m in Cornwall. Been in hospital loads of times last year, chap from the caravan site opposite me fishes Brean beach he had to skate and a bass of around 4.5lb last week. I live next to the beach foot path. Take care.

A nice early bass Alan, I Had my best bass there 2x 10lb , its fishes well last hour of the drop and fish the tide up at the river mouth, one of my favourite places, and I LIVE IN BRIDGEND so just down the road if you fancy a session sometime let me know..

Thanks for watching - As I was coming back, there was an angler on. a little spit in the river mouth fishing .. too many surfers there when I was going through !! Thanks for the offer of a trip , I'll bear that in mind - Ogmore is becoming a favourite spot

Thanks for watching , glad you liked it. Indeed, I'm sure the same dog re-appeared when I was between the two points , it had come over the rocks - Owner was stuck on the sand the other side .. again had to manhandle it away : it loved squid !!

Lovely bass fella. I went down myself on the 26th, looking to fish over high. Saw the waves rolling in and thought better of it. Ended up on the knap catching half a dozen doggies.
