Awesome video! You guys caught some really nice Halibut! I really enjoyed watching this. As always, thanks so much for sharing! #FATHER&SONOUTDOORS rocks!
That's encouraging seeing you catch them on a jig head a rubber body. I was under the impression it required huge weights and setups. I'll be out that way later this week and hope to get at least one!
Cool video guys, love seeing a father and son as fishin buddies. That's me and my dad as well. Nice fish, we're coming up to fish Near bay in a few weeks.
Hell Yeah! The first halibut I ever caught was a Neah Bay fish. The company I worked for bought a charter trip for four of the top producers in the company. We all put 100 bucks in the pool. I caught the only fish and won 500 bucks! Epic!
@FATHER&SON OUTDOORS We get a three day opener on the 27th. The sporties have been doing good! There's fish around. Hopefully we drop our gear in the right spot!
Nice flatties and in close too! Finally got to use a Daiwa Tanacom. Makes a 400' drop for flatties doable. Now that I've gone electric, I can't go back. I'm fine being a sissy. :)
@@fathersonoutdoors8049 Thank you I will try and get a hold of him but keep up the good work with all the videos I just re watch them sometimes since I just love watching your channel!
I caught one in 2005 that was 144 lbs. at 180 ft. depth and only a few short miles from Sekiu. I used herring injected with herring oil and a baby octopus with hoochie on a spreader bar - cannon ball setup. He got harpooned before coming aboard. A little known secret I learned from reading " How to catch trophy halibut " is to bring them in upside down and quickly start rubbing or petting their belly and they will immediately relax and not flop around. It really works despite sounding like a joke.
It's been a tough year close, for me anyways. There is the "garbage dump" and a few holes east that i have numbers for if I'm around i can give them to you
That's it....when I talk to you in the marina I'm asking you where you are catching them in this close! I have made big runs out and still can't frickin catch them.
@@fathersonoutdoors8049 I would absolutely love if you'd private message me the coordinates or at least a tick on a map. I thought last year I had my first hali off tabletop but the ol fillet guys corrected me that it was a big sole. Made me sad but it was still delicious.
I'm not that dumb, believe it or not, lol we're tribal and this was during our tribal halibut opener. I mentioned this in the video, you must've missed that part
