There's 3 Matrix consultants that really do a great job on YT. We (normal) anglers need to appreciate more the hard work that you, Jamie Harrison, and a certain Mr. Hughes put into providing top quality videos for the brand (on the Matrix channel or your own). I know there are other anglers backed by the brand, but the 3 of you stand out more. OK, some of the stuff you talk about isn't always Matrix, but you all come across well, and talk in an engaging way with us. Do Matrix know their consultants do this? Should I suggest to them that you all deserve a pay rise / better deal?

Yes please on the flat float video Jon. Something I need to learn for the Thames.
@JonArthur
@JonArthur 3 года назад
Think I’d need 100g on there today! On most of the middle Thames I don’t usually need them as it’s so slow flowing I can just overshot a 2-4g bodied float. Upper Thames is proper flat float country though...

Love your video's Jon. Just recently discovered your channel so going through a binge watch at the moment. I had a friend who worked for Ultimate fishing tackle years ago so I gave him a call regarding the Ultimate Black floats and he says the Drennan SF2 floats are based on the same design.
@JonArthur

They’re sadly not close to what I want. Stems are wrong and don’t take enough shot for their body size. Colmic Jolly is better alternative or a Sensas model ive got my eye on, but thanks all the same.

Hi John great video, I was wondering what length hook lengths do you use on your river rigs? Cheers Jason
@JonArthur
@JonArthur 2 месяца назад
Thanks, mostly 6in (15cm) but might go shorter 4in for bleak or bread fishing and longer 8in for hemp fishing or faster venues or if I'm laying on a bit of line for quality fish. Flat float fishing and holding back big rigs with worms etc I often use 10-12in as I am fishing much deeper than the swim. Hope that helps, but stick to 6in for general work.

Hi Jon I use similar floats but heavier like 5g.. 6g... 8g... 10g would be my heaviest 99% of my floats are carbon stem personally I think are stronger and they don't intend to bend and break like steel stem... But I've one Question Jon I'm going to purchase silicone /plastic tubing to cut into little pieces to suit the carbon stem.. Can you recommend what diameter tubing would you use for this... Regards Jimmy 👍
@JonArthur
@JonArthur Год назад
When you go above 3g a carbon would be my choice too, but strong flows a thick metal stem will help provide a keel. They tend to get stronger and thicker in those sizes, almost like alloy stems. As for silicone, have a look at the multi dispensers that companies like Preston and NuFish do as they have mixed diameters from 0.3 to 1mm.

Hi Jon, great video. Can I ask can you show how the blue winders with the bleak floats are on, how are attached fixed underneath.
@antrog1895

Great vid mate. I have to be honest I think I nodded off near the beginning when it went a bit French then woke up near the end when there was some drilled bullets from the 70's on some 1cm winders. Would you consider doing a vid on coffin leads? PS that cassette is a disgrace get the Mr Sheen out 😀

John what float box do you use....? Was rusty after 12 years on the Medway Master's Sunday. 14th out of 60 and a section win on the second day.....
@JonArthur
@JonArthur Год назад
Well done on the Medway. I use Matrix Storage Box 16 Compartment Shallow for storing loose floats as they're almost indestructible. The winders are stored in Matrix Pole Winder Trays, which is a great system.

Well John, that was very interesting. I’m on the right track generally but due to removing the heavy matrix trays from my box Im trying to store rigs in lighter tackle boxes like the new shallow matrix Eva system. Apart from grouping a few winders together with rubber bands I haven’t found any other way of stopping them from getting into a mess! The new shallow Eva boxes need small tray with rounded corners so they stay put without moving about. As usual nobody seems to have stock which is really irritating! Hmm the downside of reaching 70 yrs old 😢if you or anyone has any solutions please let me know. Tights lines all.

Stonfo do a 'Float And Winder Box' container (Code 732.0.0) which is 260x190x26mm and fits the yellow winders perfectly (but frustratingly 5mm too short for the long blue river 26cm ones). They're £5.99 at Benwick Sports on this link: www.benwick-sports.co.uk/accessories/9769-stonfo-float-winder-box.html
