Hello everyone and welcome back to the Shed, good to see you back!
In this video I will be carrying out the complete fitment of an aftermarket car stereo headunit into my sons R50 Mini Cooper.
The headunit that I will be fitting is the Kenwood KDC-BT740DAB CD Receiver, With Built-in Bluetooth, DAB+ Digital Radio, USB Input and also includes Amazon Alexa, which was an exciting feature that my son really wanted in his car. This allows for music to be selected via Amazon Music or Spotify by simply tapping the microphone button on the facia of the stereo and speaking to Alexa in the usual manner. Provided that your phone is Bluetooth connected to the headunit, the music will start to play. A very cool little feature.
As I said in the video, the Amazon sale of this headunit also includes the DAB antenna at no additional cost which is a potential saving of circa £20 compared to some other retailers.
Naturally, whilst I fitted a Kenwood unit to the car in this video, the process will be identical for fitting Pioneer, JVC or Sony units to the Mini too.
In addition to the stereo itself, you will also need a fitting kit in order to adapt the cars dashboard and wiring loom to accept the Kenwood item.
