How to mount the hdplex to commercial pc case? for example the one that use flex atx / sfx atx, is the blackplate given fit just fine or you need another adapter to mount?
I haven't tried to fit one of these in a commercial case yet. Cases which are big enough to take a atx or sfx style PSU many not need one of these, as it's more suited to really small cases. However I see no reason that this couldn't fit in a larger case, given a little thought.
Unfortunately I fitted this new PSU to replace a failed PSU, so I'm unable to compare the efficiency of the new PSU in comparison. However the computer would get by easily with a 100w PSU, so the 250w is more than adequate. I've had no issues with it since it was fitted, totally silent and no cooling issues.
The HDplex web site reports the 250W PSU has 94% Efficiency. I don't have any way of confirming this figure, but I have no reason to doubt it. I've run these rack mounted computers with both Pico style PSUs and the HDplex 250W. The advantage of the HDplex PSU is that there is no external power brick. So as long as your case has space for it I'd always go for the HDplex PSU. For cases with limited room, like the video I did on the C64 case, a Pico style PSU was the only option.
