Applause for reccomending checking nthe lie angle of every club in the bag! Most clubfitters don't do that. They assume that the golfer has his hands in the same position at impact for every iron. That isn't necessarily the case. Usually only one iron is tested for lie angle - typically a 6 iron. Often a golfer will stand up more with longer irons and squat more with short irons. Therefore the hands are higher with the longer irons and lower with the shorter irons. When I do lie angle tests I test with the longest iron and one of the shortest irons. I then figure out the number of degrees of lie angle difference per club (1/2 inch difference per iron) and bend them accordingly. I do the same for my own clubs because I stand more upright the longer the irons. I have found that this method works best. Otherwise, for some golfers, even after a lie angle fitting, the long irons will be too flat and the short irons too upright.
I fitted recently and told that I was stalling through my swing as I came in too steep. I could never finish my turn to well. Fitter told my clubs were to upright if they were flatter I'd swing around my body. I watched a few Bradley Hugh's videos also then bent my old clubs 3deg flat. What a difference I gained a club at least on each iron. So I think its important to mention your iron lie length can make your swing work against you with even knowing. What’s up with the non-option by every online seller of new clubs of adjusting the lie angles of drivers? They only have shaft length options. But when you make a shaft shorter the lie angle needs to become more upright, correct?
Correct! Some drivers have an adjustable sleeve above the hosel. There are loft and lie angle adjustments. Often the lie angle adjustment will be labeled draw for more upright or fade for a flatter lie. It is impossible to change the face angle. It is really a lie angle adjustment. If your driver has an adjustable hosel learn how it works and experiment with more upright lie angle changes to see what works best.
Those units and the flightscope give some sort of shaft angle during the swing, which helps the fitter, I would prefer the actual data from the impact into the turf
I have played yet, its terrible of me, ooh good question, my cop out answer is it depends,, if the shaft weight is too heavy or light the swing can be impacted and will throw off the swing which impacts the swing. So I guess I answered it directly hmmmm
no, that is a myth, heating metal help to bend it easier. I suppose if the metal got heated to the forging point it would be easier but that would ruin the head.
