I see that you’ve combined traditional and modern strategies in small business marketing. Having the best of both worlds and not focusing on only one technique can be tough, but I guess it’s still draws out the best results.

+Wesley Dubbink That depends on how you define it. There are very blurry lines between marketing, communication and marccom IMO. Communication is the transfer of data between people which advertising/marketing includes so in that sense everything is outward communication.
+kurrethegs You guys are both in the same page. Marketing strategy is the technique used to reach out for possible consumers to convincing them into purchasing your products. Similarly, communication is to broadcast the information of the product you have in a rhetorical manner in order to gain as much costumers as you can. They have insignificant differences!!
I agree that the "Host-Beneficiary Relationship" is truly a great way to create a win-win relationship with those that already have access to your target market. There's a million different ways that you could arrange your relationships so that you aren't taking unethical advantage of them. In the arrangement, you must make sure that the other party wins, their customers, and your company.

and flyer in cafes or restaurants or just glue it some were. you would be surprised. just ask owner if you can put flyers on the tables next to a price list( in eu we have it, dont know about us) or on a bar some were in the corner. works like a charm in towns
The only question is..how to get the 'buy-in' of the customers in case of sms and e-mail campaigns? I'd rather assume in 90% of cases they'll say 'NO' to whatever you'd like to send them..
